This new blog post features small blurbs about the cinematic itself, traits about the characters that appear throughout the cinematic, as well as a few new screenshots. The world and characters of the theatrical production [KH X Back Cover] close in on the series' mysteries (3^rd special/Dengeki PS)

[Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue] will appear on the PlayStation 4 as the series' newest release. This time, we'll check out one of the three productions in this package, the theatrical production [Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover (hereon KHXBC)]! This special edition of Dengeki PlayStation will cover the happenings of the oldest tale in the series.

[KHXBC] is an all-new theatrical production that runs a little less than an hour. By checking out the world and characters, we should be able to understand the story more deeply. There are all kinds of developments to keep pulling in the interest of the series' fans!

The series' oldest tale tells of the “back side”

The story of [KHXBC] is the story of what happened the in furthest point back in the [KH] series. It tells the story of the other side of the events of [KH Unchained X], a smart phone app that started September 2015. You can enjoy this product on its own, too, but it's no mistake to say that those who have played [KH Unchained X] will find it more interesting.

The setting is a town that exists someplace in the worlds, “Daybreak Town.” It will become clear as to what kind of people the “Foretellers”--the characters that guide the player in [KH Unchained X]--are, and what they're planning to do...

A story full of mystery will unfold with the Master and his apprentices!

The axes of this story are the six Foretellers under the powerful “Master of Masters.” Each of them received a Book of Prophecies, and the five Foretellers who come to run Unions are the main characters. Here, we'll take a more detailed look as to each of the characters.

Ira

The Foreteller who bears a unicorn mask and leads the Unicornis union. He has a reliable personality, and is often teased by the Master for being too serious.

Invi

<Nonsense.>

The Foreteller who bears a snake mask and leads the Anguis union. She has a noble personality and holds great faith in the Master.

Aced

<If that's so, then what about you!?>

The Foreteller who wears a bear mask and leads the Ursus union. He has a daring personality, but he can be too frank with his feelings and gets reckless.

Ava

<I want to protect the Master's teachings.>

The Foreteller who bears a fox mask and leads the Vulpeus union. She has a cautious personality, and it seems that other Keyblade wielders speak of her as a friend.

Gula

<Eh? This is a page of the Book of Prophecies, is it not?>

The Foreteller who wears a leopard mask and leads the Leopardus union. He has a collected personality, and it seems he does not have any feelings of fellowship toward the other Foretellers.

Luxu

<With a heart that follows the key...>

One of the six apprentices of the Master. He is the only one not to receive a Book of Prophecies, but instead, he was entrusted with a Keyblade and a black cloak.

Master of Masters

<Whoever the traitor might be, deal with it calmly, all right?>

A mysterious being who has six apprentices. He has eyes that can see the future, and in his grief of the future, he gave five of his apprentices Books of Prophecies and a mission.

Chirithy

(Left side of the picture) A mysterious cat-like being. He acts as the players' navigator in [KH Unchained X], but in this production...?

<Cheer up, okay?>

A Keyblade wielder. He's sociable and doesn't fear much, and even toward the Foretellers, this bright young man speaks in a carefree way.

There's a traitor amongst the Foretellers!?

The Foretellers received the Book of Prophecies and a mission from the Master, and they act based on his teachings. However, a fissure appeared in the five Foretellers' relationship as suddenly, one day, news of the existence of a “traitor” surfaces. Who on earth could be the traitor--plagued by their doubt, the balance of the Foretellers will gradually fall apart...

[KHXBC] is a theatrical production, and is only being produced as a movie (TN: i.e., they have no plans to make this a game, as per the previous interview). By checking out this content in advance, the story should be easier to understand, as well as to make conjectures. On its pre-order listing for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Amazon Germany has revealed in its description for the game that the cinematic feature Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is 80 minutes long.

This would make Back Cover the shortest cinematic in the series thus far, with the cinematics for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days at 2 hours & 50 minutes long and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded at approximately 3 hours long.

So, when I came to the conclusion that the two voices were the same, I started to think about the conversation Eraqus and Xehanort have while they play chess:

Xehanort: "Have you heard of the ancient Keyblade War?"

Eraqus: "Yeah, the MASTERS favorite story." (Now, he could be talking about his current master, but I feel like there was a deeper meaning behind him saying that).

Xehanort: "So...you KNOW the Lost Masters? They're the one's who started the Keyblade War." (It almost seems like Xehanort is trying to get Eraqus to slip up and admit a potential truth.  Assuming my theory would be correct).

Eraqus: "Never heard of 'em." (It sounds like Eraqus is trying to play it off here, but you can tell right away that he is lying).

Xehanort: "You can drop the FACADE." (It's clear that Xehanort knows something through this statement).

Now, of course, Eraqus and Xehanort could have learned about the Keyblade War and the Lost Masters through there master and through ancient texts and such, but I have to wonder: Was Eraqus actually there?  The voice similarity aside, it makes sense to me how he could be Luxu for this reason: Eraqus was always very adamant about making sure that darkness was completely obliterated.  Now, what could have made him feel so strongly about darkness and what it does to people's hearts?  Could he have seen something drastic happen in his past?  Could he have witnessed the Keyblade War and what darkness did to the hearts of the people of Daybreak Town?  He says at the end of the KHIII trailer (to Xehanort): "Who's to say I can't change it?  And maybe light will prevail.  There is more to light than meets the eye.  You might be surprised."  Now, why would he say something like that?  How would he know so much about light?  Could he have seen Kingdom Hearts emerging at the Keyblade Graveyard?  Could it have been a moment like when Sora experiences the light of Kingdom Hearts at the end of the first game?  And to add on top of that, Luxu (despite not becoming a foreteller), is probably a Keyblade Master.  He has been seen with the Keyblade that Xehanort will one day possess.  How did it get to where Eraqus and Xehanort are?  Could it have been their masters?  Or did Eraqus bring it into the future with him after he inherited it from his true Master?  Luxu said that his job was to watch the events of the war unfold and then traverse into the future.  So, could he have acquired a new identity and taken up a new apprenticeship in that future?

Anyhow, i'm still brewing over my thoughts and ideas, so this is in no way a complete theory, but I thought I would toss it out there anyway.  What are your guys' thoughts about this possibility?
 

Edit: Another thing I have noticed is that the zipper on Luxu's coat has the same symbol that is seen on Eraqus's armor (As well as Aqua/Terra/Ven's).

50 views in 2 hours... Jeez that's better than I've ever done I think. o.o

1) Most important reason ( imo) is that we've hit a brick wall with KH3, we've reverted to what world do you want... Is this world likely to appear even more so... And even worse the negativity has increased tremendously; however this isn't a rant about that... ( believe me I could). Heck people are even excited over a voice actor not recording which is actually a joke. Therefore 2.8 provides us with something NEW to talk about. I have no doubt 0.2 from a lore perspective will provide loads of new topics, eg why did Mickey keep this a secret? How has Aqua found a way to save Terra and Ven? Does this mean Lea isn't a light? Has Sora returned yet; is he a master now? Even in the space of a minute I've thought of new topics to discuss.

2) Back Cover- I included this in a separate paragraph for a number of reasons. Firstly the release of unchained chi ( hello to anyone from my party reading this) has given us something to play and work on until further notice; the plot will be relevant to 3 and also watching back cover will provide us with a complete picture. Also Back Cover has the potential to either dismiss the rebirth theory or greatly enhance it. Again this kick start a debate which we lack real evidence for in the long run.

3) Dream Drop Distance- whilst an old entry to the series; comparing and contrasting the gameplay between the 3ds and ps4 will be fun and it will be interesting to identify differences.

4) first hand look at the Kingdom Shader- this will answer a lot of people's questions regarding the graphics and design of the game

5) character design- I'm sure we all remember the reactions to Mr Shiny Forehead, sorry Yen Sid's design, I for one made a post about good the door and take looked instead; yes I am sad enough to appreciate the surroundings in games- don't mock me, even though you probably will. 2.8 will allow us to see the progress in character designs from that trailer and get an idea what they'll look like in 3.

6) this game serves no harm- I doubt kh3 was scheduled for this year regardless whether this game was a thing or not. Therefore we only gained by having the game being released; we get an old game to enjoy again, a cool film and a new game. Nobody can knock this or would you rather have nothing?

Overall, 2.8 is a blessing and I'm throughly looking forward to playing the games/watching the movie and engaging in new debates with people, predicting what the future has in store for us. It is a good time to be a KH fan and we should enjoy ourselves instead of looking for issues all the time. I have a saying ( pun not intended due to my name) that if you look for negatives you'll only find negatives and never see the positives in anything.

I find this most interesting!  It's certainly looking like Back Cover's gonna form a considerably intriguing amount of story that'll affect Kingdom Hearts III and the series in general!  Just what exactly will we be witness to?  Regarding Xehanort's Keyblade, will we see how it was forged?  Will we see who wielded it before him?  And on the subject of the Lost Master, which I'm assuming is the Master Of Masters, will we get some screen time from said character?  Because that particular individual is shaping up to be quite an important character, since said character was the one who mentored the Foretellers, correct?  And the traitor...just who is the traitor?  And might this traitor have any connections at all to Xehanort?  Gahh, so many questions!  I hope we get the answers! X_X

2.8...come to us already! D:  So then everyone, what are your thoughts on all this?  I'd like to know!

One particular Keyblade Master was curious and wondered why there needed to be guardians of light when the worlds were full of light. He started to tamper with the darkness and eventually came to realise that there was an imbalance of light and darkness. Convinced that this particular student no longer fulfilled his duties as a Guardian of Light, the Master Foreteller decided to banish him from the Union, and eventually, the war between 7 lights vs 13 darkness's ensued.

This means that we'll probably get to see the Keyblade War, in all it's HD, KHIII graphical glory!  We'll get to see the downfall of the five unions, and it's probably going to be quite a gruesome sight!  Just think about it!  If this were to happen, I'd like the segment showing the war to last quite a few minutes, so we can see the variety of different abilities being used by many Keyblade Wielders, plus, seeing the Union leaders themselves fighting!  I'm severely hoping this happens!

Seeing all that with Kingdom Hearts III's graphics...lord, it's going to be amazing! X_X
