It is nighttime. Sora, Donald and Goofy have landed in yet another strange world that seems different from the ones they know. Sora has been changed into a human-frog hybrid, along with Donald and Goofy. They look around the shopping district and discover a pile of food that is being eaten by a pair of pigs, who are being carried away by a spirit who works at the stand. Suddenly, a group of Nightmare Dream Eaters called Geishachnids, accompanied by Tatsu Steeds and Ghostabockies, attack the three, and everything is going smooth until one of the Geishachnids knocks Sora down, and the ones around her knock down Donald and Goofy. They attack the trio viciously and nearly do them in until they suddenly pause. Sora turns around and sees a bird with the face of an old woman screeching at the Dream Eaters. They then disappear upon listening to her, while the bird herself flies away.
Sora wonders who or what that bird was and why the Dream Eaters listened to her, just as Donald suddenly notices deformed beings heading toward a giant red building in front of them. Goofy suggests that they to head over there and see why it's so popular. They then come across a shadow with a mask on his face, who looks directly at Sora. Just then, the deformed beings start acting up, apparently over an anomaly within the crowd. Sora, Donald and Goofy head closer toward the building, but find nothing. A little green frog asks the three if they've seen a human, which prompts Goofy and Donald to look suspiciously at Sora. Despite this, the little green frog simply hops back into the building. Sora, Donald and Goofy enter the building, and an employee walks over to Sora and Goofy and tells them to take off their shoes.
The three walk over to a desk amidst the clamor about a human intruder. Ignoring this, Sora walks over to the frog foreman at the desk and asks about the building. The foreman explains that the building is a bathhouse where spirits come to relax themselves. Donald asks if they can help out, and the foreman initially refuses them. The little green frog then comes in and says that they might be useful for taking care of the recent Heartless problems, which surprises Sora. Suddenly, a group of Shadows come out of nowhere and the workers run away, with Lamp Spider Heartless and an Assault Rider popping out soon after. Sora and co. defeat the Heartless, leaving the foreman with surprise. Impressed with their performance, the foreman says that Sora, Donald and Goofy can get a job with Kamaji, the boiler man. Goofy asks how to get to where Kamaji is, getting the response that his room can be found on the left side of the building.
The three, while walking toward the boiler room, suddenly come across a broken staircase that Donald fiddles around with. After Sora tells Donald to stop, they and Goofy continue to proceed down until they reach the boiler room. They step inside, and see a little girl talking to a man with six arms. Sora asks the man if he is Kamaji, and Kamaji says yes. The little girl introduces herself as Chihiro, and Sora, Donald, and Goofy introduce themselves. Chihiro explains that she is here to get a job at the bathhouse, and Kamaji refuses, saying that he has his sootball lackeys to take care of things. Right before Donald begins to have a talk with Kamaji, one of the sootballs drops a lump coal on itself. Chihiro moves in to take the coal for it, but struggles. Sora helps her, and they both throw the coal into the furnace once they reach it.
Upon seeing their teamwork, the other sootballs drop their lumps of coal on purpose just to get out of working. Sora says no, and then the sootballs get angry and move towards Chihiro. A door on the side opens up, and a woman in a pink uniform comes out and feeds confetti candy to the sootballs. She then notices Sora, and ask him who he is; Sora introduces himself, as do Donald and Goofy; the woman introduces herself as Lin. She then looks over to Chihiro and realizes that she’s the human that everyone is looking for; Kamaji claims that Chihiro is his granddaughter, but Lin knows he is lying. Sora explains that she’s looking for work, and Kamaji suggests that Lin take Chihiro with her to Yubaba, the owner of the bathhouse. Lin reluctantly complies, and takes Chihiro, who puts down her shoes on Lin’s order and thanks Kamaji, with her.
