I wanted to give my own reviews on the Kingdom Hearts games I played, how I felt about them, and such. I thought it would be fun while waiting for KHIII.

I first played Kingdom Hearts 1 back in 2007. I had always heard of the game but at the time I wasn't interested. I was growing out of Disney back then  so I had no real reason to play. But then my sister got the game and she started playing. She showed it to me and I thought maybe it would be cool to play with different Disney characters. It's funny because at first I didn't care much for Sora, Riku, and Kairi. I wanted the Disney characters. By the end of the game I fell in love with all of them and they became more important to me then the Disney aspects. I wanted to see Sora find Kairi and knock some sense back into Riku so they could all be friends again. And of course Sora's bound with Donald and Goofy was beautiful. To this day I am in my sisters debt for getting me into the corny and cheesy world of Kingdom Hearts, which is now my favorite video game franchise ever.

I'll always remember my first gameplay of the game. I picked the magic staff and gave up the shield. I also started in the dead of night, so I was pretty underleveled for parts of the game. That lead to many deaths. I got destroyed by bosses like Trick Master, Parasite Cage, Anti-Sora, even Lock, Shock, and Barrel beat me up several times in the game. But the games toughest bosses for me were Maleficent in her dragon form and Riku-Ansem. Kinda funny since I find Riku-Ansem to be kinda easy now. But that is only because I died to him so many times, so I know his attack patterns. And since you can't skip cutscenes in KHI I watched the "It is I Ansem"  scene many times. Still it's rewarding to finally beat a boss that's been destroying you all game.

I loved the gameplay of the first game. To this day it's my favorite of the series. The plot is pretty easy to follow for the first game, the characters all are colorful and really make the world have personalty. I did not know about Final Fantasy characters back then so this was my intro to Final Fantasy. Leon, Aerith, Yuffie, Cid, and Cloud were all nice additions and this was my first time seeing them.

The Disney villains all together was like a childhood dream come true. Seeing Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula, Captain Hook, Oogie Boogie, and Hades together was mind blowing. They were also very fun bosses. I loved the sidequest such as finding the 99 dalmatian puppies, the trinities, learning new abilities, reading the Ansem Reports, finding secrets after gaining High Jump and Glide, getting items for Synthesising items to get the Ultimate Keyblade. I could go on.

The Super bosses are all very challenging but fun with how you need new strategies to defeat them. It feels great when you can finally return to Agrabah and Neverland knowing certain super bosses aren't there to bug you anymore after beating them.

This is the Kingdom Hearts game I replay the most and revisit the most. It's near perfect for me and started my journey into something larger. I just wanted to share that all with you guys. So that's my mini review of KHI. What are some of your favorite memories from Kingdom Hearts 1? Or how was your first play through of the game?
