I always equated Punk to being the closest music has to a kind of "protest music." It's used to spotlight and talk about current tropics in blunt crass ways and it's uncompromising in its message.

I don't think Punk is soft or "has gone soft" like a lot of the dumbasses say, I think Punk has and still has its edge today because it is able to consistently sustain itself with the youth of each coming generation for similar yet different means.
