The Kingdom Hearts II Opening is just a quick recap of the major points of KHI and CoM. No big in-depth explanation required.

I know right just think about KH1.

What they said. Play the games before KH2 and your friend will understand.

The summry of kh1 and khcom

You could tell him to replay KH1 and KH Re:CoM, or you could flat-out tell him "It starts with Sora trying to wake up Kairi, who is in a coma state because she lost her heart, and then he goes to fight, Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, and after doing so, he goes to close the Door to Darkness, with Riku on the other side, who says to take care of Kairi. Then Kairi, who has woken up, goes back to the restored Destiny Islands which was reappeared when Ansem disappeared. Sora then shows up at Castle Oblivion, where the evil Organization XIII is keeping Namine, a girl who has power to change Sora's memories, captive. Sora then goes to rescue her, killing off Organization members on the way, until he reaches Marluxia, the Lord of the Castle, and fights him. Meanwhile, Riku is also traversing the Castle trying to get out, and fights Ansem, who has become a part of Riku's darkness. Sora finally gets to Namine, who puts Sora in a sleep pod to sleep for a year so she can put his memories back to normal after messing with them. Meanwhile, Sora's Nobody, Roxas, is going to the Awakening, where you will take a tutorial, and the game starts."

But if you that's a mouthful, you can just say the former.
