I was supposed to go to a bar mitzvah. The morning part where they read the Torah i missed. Me and my mom overslept and i missed it. Is that bad?

could you educate me on what a bar mitzvah is? then i'll see if i can answer

^ To keep the story short, I'm pretty positive it's like a coming-of-age ceremony for someone in the Jewish faith where they accept being responsible for all their actions in life (or something like that). The main part of the ceremony is the part RoxSar is talking about, which is usually followed by an after-party/meal (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

I have only been to a few of them, and I'm not exactly Jewish (if that would even matter for anything) but from my point of view I think it depends on who the person hosting is really if it was bad or not that you missed the reading of the Torah. They might have not even noticed your absence though so if you aren't asked you don't need to tell your reasoning for being late. But as long as you tried to make the effort to get there I'm sure whoever is hosting it wouldn't be angry with you since you still tried to show up.
