The Sacrifice
Chapter 1: Interlude of Fate
What would you do if you had the chance to control the world? What would you change? Would you kill anyone? Would you revive anyone? What if for everything you changed, someone had to die? What would you sacrifice to make the world a better place?
A girl with brown long hair and dark green eyes wearing a white dress walked barefoot in a field full of flowers. She danced around and smelled the flowers while a man wearing a striped suit and a white mask watched her. He was amused by the little girl’s actions. She was his student for six years now. He remembered the day like it was yesterday. A knock on the wooden doors of The Academy for Gifted Illustratist, the building in which he taught children how to use their innate powers to create things borne from their minds. As he got up to answer the door he could feel a strange presence in the building. The man opened the door to find no one but a young girl, six years of age, holding a white rose. The girl grinned at him and asked, “Can I come inside?”
“I suppose so, but first I must ask you, where are your parents young lady?”
“They left me here. They said that you were going to take care of me for now.
“Oh.” The man stared at the girl in disbelief. Her parents left her here? And they want me to take care of her? Who were they? The man thought. “What is your name young lady?”
“Alexandra Bella du Lish but most people call me ‘Alli’”
“Well, Alli, my name is Robert Silver. Nice to meet you.” Robert held out his hand. Alli grabbed it and together they walked inside the building, marking the beginning of their journey. In the present, Robert smiled behind the mask. “Whoever her parents were, they definitely sent him one interesting child.” He said quietly. The glass door behind Robert opened and a young man with straggly brown hair, brown eyes, and a leather jacket stepped outside. “Teacher, someone would like to see you. A ‘Mrs. Zarra’?” The man went back inside. Robert looked at Alli. “It’s time to come inside now.”
“Okay.” Alli replied. She picked a flower from the field and walked to her teacher. Alli gave it to him and walked inside the Academy. Robert studied the flower. It was a white rose. He looked at the field of flowers.
“A whole field of flowers and yet this girl picks the white rose, the rarest flower in the field. How strange…” Robert walked inside the building.
