Hey guys I just need a little help with something so bear with me here. What file type do you use or recommend to upload your videos onto YouTube. Well, you see I'm having a little problem here. See, whenever I upload a video that is at least 6 minutes long it takes about 500-400 minutes until it uploads, which is quite a long time. So I though I'd come here and ask since a lot of people here has a YouTube account. So that's why I'm asking what file type do you guys use whenver you upload your videos onto YouTube. I use a avi video type file. But I want to know what file types you all use and recommend because I think the reason why it takes a long time to get it uploaded because maybe I'm using a file type that's a little too big whenever I upload a video past 6 minutes. So, got any suggestions, recommendations, or ideas of what file type is best to use?

Okay, so how did you get that file type? Did you convert it into a wmv file type or did it automatically become a wmv file type?

Well, I used Sony Vegas to make my vids, so it automatically came out as wmv. You should know what filetype it is when you look at the title. If it's a wmv, it'll end with .wmv However, if it isn't that filetype, you'll have to convert it.

Alright. So how do i get Sony Vegas? That sounds like a good way to get a wmv file type.

You have to buy it, it's a movie maker program

Hmm, okay then. I guess I'll try and convert it instead.

yeah you aught to be able to convert it. i use a program called sothink media converter and i beleive you can make a video into that type of file.

well i use .mp4 for my videos on youtube but if you want to use .wmv get window movie maker it is free and easy to use, but your upload speed also determine how long it takes to upload files so try this site to find yours http://www.speedtest.net/ becuase you might just have a low upload speed

AVI seems to be great quality, a good program to convert video files would be Mobile Media Converter.

The only format I've ever used was Quicktime movie. Don't use it if your looking for high quality, though. My teachers always wanted our animations in that file type so I didn't both re-rendering it.

And I use Adobe AfterEffects for video editing. It's awesome.
