[Possible Spoilers] Dream Eater's analysis

Posted

Hello again. I start this new topic to talk about something that really bugs me, mainly focus on the Spirit Dream Eaters. I hope somebody can send soon a list with data, photos and pictures of all the Spirits you can partner in the game, by the way. I also hope somebody can translate soon the whole last part of the game; mainly from the already translated scene when Riku and co saves Sora. Well, these are my comments:

1º) Why did Sora go solo to another journey at the end of the game? The only reason I can think is that he wanted to make sure all the worlds freed from the Realm of Sleeping were OK. Do you have any other ideas? By the way, there's something strange around this. According to Sora and Riku, they had to unlock Seven Keyholes of Sleep to restore those worlds; Seven Keyholes but there was only six worlds (Traverse Town, Prankster's Paradise, The Grid, La Cité des Cloches, The Country of the Musketeers and Symphony of Sorcery). As far as I have seen in the cutscenes of the story, it seems both Sora and Riku visit Traverse Town two times, and they unlock a different keyhole in that place every time. Any ideas about why there was two Keyholes in this city?

2º) After the credits, we saw Sora back to Traverse Town, but this time in the real world. (He had his appearance and outfit from Kingdom Hearts II). The strange part here is when, suddenly, all the Spirit Dream Eaters that you can use in the game appear and gather around Sora. How can it be? How can the Dream Eater exist in the real world now? Well, actually, I have a theory. I guess this must be a reference to one of Disney's most famous mottos: "Dreams Come True". Or maybe this could be the meaning behind the phrase "Birth by Sleep". Anyway, the truth is that I expected it would happen something like this at the end. The bad guys already have lots of minions (the Heartless, the Nobodies, the Unversed, the Bugs and the Nightmares); I think it was time that the good guys have their own "army" with the Spirits, don't you think?

You know?, the last scene with Sora surrounded by all the friendly Spirits mades me think about Pokemon. The scene was like Ash returning to Professor Oak's lab after one of his journeys, and being greeted by all his Pokemon from previous adventures. In fact, this has made me realize the similarities between both worlds. (It's not a complain, in fact, I like it). Both videogames-histories have similar "trinities". If Sora is like Ash's parallel self, I think Kairi would be the girl of the group (Misty, May, Dawn and Iris) and Riku would be "mature boy" (Brock, Tracey and Cilan). I have even noticed the similarities between some Dream Eaters and some Pokemon:

+ "Bat Bat" is very similar to Crobat, and also other Bats Pokemon like Swoobat and Gliscor. "Bat Bat" even attack with sonic wades, similar to Crobat's Supersonic attack.

+ "Dragon Horse" is very similar to Seadra and Kingdra, all of them based on sea horses.

+ "Zou Elephant" has similarities to some other Pokemon based on elephants, like Donphan and Mamoswine. Possibly, a little more on Mamoswine.

+ "Nail Bird" is similar to several Pokemon based on raptor birds. For example, Pidgeot, Swellow, Braviary or Staraptor.

+ "Scissor Beetle" is like a scarab with pincers, like the Pokemon named Pinsir. However, the part of "scissor" in the name mades me think about another Bug type Pokemon named Scizor.

+ "Drill Rhino" is a rhinoceros with a driller horn, just like the Pokemons Rhyhorn and Rhydon.

+ "Lily Flower" is a living flower with a good design to be a girl's partner, like the Pokemons Vileplume or Bellossom.

+ "Swift Giraffe" is based on a giraffe, just like the Pokemon named Girafarig.

+ "Tyrant Rex" actually makes me think more about Greymon, from "Digimon"; as both are based on a Tyrannosaur Rex. In Pokemon's world, maybe we could compare it with Rampardos.

There are more similarities, but I don't want to post all of them and spoil the fun. You know?, there's another thing that comes to mind. Sora hcould have brought the Spirits to the real world using them as a physical manifestation of the friends he made in his previous journeys. Think about it:

+ "Handsome Pegasus" could represent Sora's memories of the Olympus Coliseum, as this Spirit is similar to Pegasus, from "Hercules".

+ "Aura Lion" could represent Sora's memories of Simba and his world, "The Pride Lands".

+ "Kuma Panda" could represent Sora's memories of Mulan and the "Land of the Dragons". I don't know, maybe because in "Mulan" it appeared a Panda too?

+ "Zou Elephant" could represent Sora's memories of Tarzan and his world, "Deep Jungle", because of its similarities to Tantor. (But of course, there's the problem of Tarzan's world erased from the universe of Kingdom Hearts).

Well, what do you think about all this?

I asked this same question a few days ago. Destiny Islands is the first world and Ursula guards its keyhole. Strange, right? How was Destiny Islands sleeping?

The realm of sleep allows anything to happen. Your desires, memories, and anything else can manifest itself in it. If he can talk to Roxas again there, he might just get closure and help the people connected to his heart. That's what I think.

1) The Seventh is apparently Destiny Islands. And he went back to the Realm of Sleep to retake the Mark of Mastery because he had failed it, due to the events of what happened while he was originally there.

2) As above, he went to the Realm of Sleep. When Sora's opens a portal at the end of the game, it's the portal the connects the Realm of Sleep to reality, as far as I can see. Now there is a big difference between sending your conscious to the Realm of Sleep, and literally going to the Realm of Sleep. I'm going by this assumption after seeing that when Riku goes to fix the comatose Sora by going to his heart, you'll see that he is in the same form as he was when he was in the Realm of Sleep. And when returns to reality, he was sleeping on the floor. That's why when you see Sora in his KHII outfit at Traverse Town, I believe that he went to the Realm of Sleep himself, rather than sending his conscious. That's why you'll see the Spirit Dream Eaters cuddle him and shit. I just used logic in that matter

Sorry, but I don't find sense in that theory. I mean, Sora and Riku mission was to awake the worlds in the Realm of Sleeping and restore them completely. Even with the interferences of the new Organization XIII, at least that part of the mission was completed. So, if Traverse Town and the other worlds are back to the real world, it doesn't have sense to return to the Realm of Sleep because they are no longer there. It's true that the portal opened by Sora had the same look of the one opened when you completed a world; however, that doesn't mean he's back to the Realm of Sleep. Maybe it's his new way to travel to different worlds, just like in BbS it was an orb of light, in KH-II was with keyholes revealed by objects and in the first KH was with the Gummi Ship. I guess there's many ways to travel between worlds, just like the bad guys use the Darkness Corridors.

And Sora didn't seem worried at all about losing his Mark of Mastery's test. It wasn't even his fault, he failed because a treacherous attack of the Org XIII to use him for their purposes interfered with his test. I'm sure Sora would have passed it if they wouldn't have interfered. Sora is the kind of guy who doesn't care about "titles", he just do was it has to be done because his friends need him; and he's not going to let anything or anyone stop him.

And the first Keyhole of Sleep was in Destiny Islands? It doesn't have any sense!! Destiny Islands were restored at the end of the first videogame, so that world shouldn't be in the Real of Sleep. Besides, what the shell was doing Ursula in Destiny Islands? Even in a dream, it doesn't have sense. I think that "Destiny Islands" must be something different.

For one, it's not a theory. Brush on some definitions first.

Now, if you actually took the time to realize what happens in the game, he had to take the test IN the Realm of Sleep. His test was not meant to be in reality. He failed the Mark of Mastery obvious, but if he wants to take it again, you have to do the same requirements as before. It's like saying you had to retake a test in school because you missed it, but you don't take the test and do it outside or do it at home. You have to take it in that classroom as if you were taking it the day you were supposed to.

The whole point of the Mark of Mastery was to find the seven Keyholes of Sleep, which will give them power to help them defeat Xehanort, hence the "Key of Sleep". Something along those lines. Never did Yen Sid say that this would restore the worlds back to their original realms. Sure, it might awaken the worlds, but awaken and restored are, or can be, two different things. As a matter of fact, that wasn't even the focus point for Sora and Riku. They didn't have to, nor did they, restore those worlds. They did what they had do for their test.

There was clearly Dream Eaters there in Traverse Town, no? Dream Eaters have a case like Heartless. They can't get out of the Realm of Sleep because there's no pathway between the Realm of Sleep and reality. You need a special way to get to one or the other. Otherwise, Heartless would be in the Realm of Sleep, and there would be Dream Eaters everywhere in reality (Which by the way, if their job is to eat off of dreams, what purpose can they even serve in reality? They can't feed off of anything because everything is real. You got to put two and two together).

You're not really proving to me anything by saying that those portals that led to the Realm of Sleep, or back to reality, are the same as those like a Gummi Ship, the Corridors or Darkness, or traveling on your Keyblade in the Lanes Between. Why introduce yet ANOTHER way of transportation between worlds, when the point is clear on how to do it? There has to be a special way to get to the Realm of Sleep and back, because Yen Sid mentions that there is no real way to get there. That's why the Heartless CANNOT get to there. The most logical way is through those portals show in the beginning and in the end of the game, since they have been shown only in this game, and they have to a purpose somehow.. It's not rocket science, you don't have to make something deem so complicated.

I don't think you understand Sora's situation in this game. See, when Sora takes the test, he is cocky, immature, and thinks he is the best. If his ego didn't get in the way, he would of never fallen into Organization XIII's hands. Yes, the Organization did cause problems and overall did cause Sora to fail. But take a look at the difference between Sora and Riku. Riku has tolerated Darkness. If the Organization went after him, they would of either failed, or they would have to take drastic measures to the point where it wasn't worth it. Sora has not really touched Darkness as much as Riku had, therefore he was an easy vessel. So yeah, technically it is his fault. He didn't prepare himself, and let himself be a prey to them. Even if the Organization wasn't there or did not interfered, how would Sora stop the Organization in reality, despite earning a Keyblade Master title? They could of just done the same thing to him as if he was in the Realm of Sleep. Obviously it was easier to do in the Realm of Sleep, but I digress.

Besides, what the shell was doing Ursula in Destiny Islands?

Even in a dream, it doesn't have sense.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this statement when you just answered your own firetrucking question. Aye aye aye, I'm having an Alpha moment.

if that was the real traverse town then there wouldnt of been dream eaters/spirits there so that should be a indication its in the realm of sleep. Alos it seems Sora physically went there since he is in his KH 2 attire. The only conclusion i can think of is that he went to re take the test, didn't he ask yen sid to let him back in the realm of sleep anyway? could of sworn I read that somewhere any way I think its very possible he went to re take the test but we won't see him become a master till KH 3.
