This song was written by my friend Ty with some help from my classmates and I. We sung this song today to this little girl who recently lost her brother in a car accident and was very distraught. Even though not everyone was aware this happened (the girl was our substitute teacher's youngest daughter and this happened during homeroom) I was surprised by how supportive many of my classmates were and how helpful they were. "Flight of the Butterfly", which was named by the little girl herself, was sung to her during 1st lunch at my school by my homeroom classmates and a few other kids at lunch, including myself. It sounded great and was well-recieved by our audience (meaning the other kids in the cafeteria and visiting little kids), but the thing that makes me proud to have helped write and sing this song was the little girl's face, which went from sad and full of tears to smiley and content thanks to us.
One day you'll leave us here
All alone, the world trying to consume us,
Just promise me that, in the end,
The memories we all share
Won't fade from your head
Beautiful butterfly...
With your wings of sky blue...
Fly high to the sky
And don't forget to write
Even if the light, bcomes too bright
Your journey is long
And is filled with pain
Please don't give in
To sorrow and hate
The wounds will heal, the scars will fade
And in the end, our love for you won't change
Beautiful butterfly...
With your wings of sky blue...
Fly high to the sky
And don't forget to write
Even if the light, becomes too bright
Abandon your fear
We will hold you true and dear
Suffering you'll endure
We walk beside you evermore
So beautiful butterfly
Whose wings soar through the sky
Never give up your fight.
Beautiful butterfly...
With your wings of sky blue...
Fly high to the sky
And don't forget to write
Even if the light, beomes too bright. (x2)
Beautiful butterfly
We will join you soon in the light
Where we will laugh and play
Well into the night
