Well, coming into my sophomore year, I've been thinking about what I legitimately want to do with my life, and this is my ideal dream future (at least as of right now):
After graduating high school, I was going to go to college in San Francisco, where I'd be taking Writing classes as a major and maybe dabble in a few video game developing classes as a minor. During my college years I was also planning to take a job/internship at IGN on the side (the reason I'd be going to college in San Francisco anyways, for the experience at IGN) and afterwards, I wanted to apply for a screenwriting job (and later become a director/producer) at a video game company, ideally Square Enix, to write plots, dialogue and maybe even develop characters (hopefully some that aren't the typical depressed ex soldier characters they keep popping out) and maybe even work in Tokyo?
This is like my dream, and with all that I'm asking I'm pretty sure that won't even come close to happening, but I could always try, yeah?
Of course, I was also thinking of other career possibilities, like a screen writer (or director/producer) for film, or television, or maybe even an author. Something that involves story writing, I always wanted to create a plot line that was my own, something I could do whatever I wanted to do with it, and create something that other people would be interested, and maybe even make fanbases based off of my franchises
So I was wondering, should I pursue the video game screen writing career (at possible square enix in tokyo), with an IGN job/internship while going to college, should I try going into the film industry instead, becoming an author, or something else? I want to go into a career that I'll enjoy, but wont crash in a few years, and I feel that RPG games are starting to go down the drain, I'm afraid of investing my life into becoming the ideal RPG creator, and then the RPG's going out of style due to the poorly/unoriginal RPG's that have been coming out recently (totally not saying I could do better, I'm not trying to say I'm all that, but just stating what I've noticed). So what should I do?
