Unused Map Data For Cerulean Cave Possibly Found In The Original Pokemon Gold and Silver?

Posted

I recently came across this video, which appears to show Cerulean Cave in Pokemon Gold, but apparently the guy who uploaded this video said that the items don't work, he said if he picked them up the game would freeze, and he said if he talked to Mewtwo it would freeze the game, but here's the video for you guys to tell if this is a hack or not.

Cool, seems legit. They should have kept it in the final version. I wonder why they decided against it?

Actually, I looked into it and from what I can tell, all the GSC unused maps wouldn't have any wild Pokemon roaming around. The GSC games have been out for a while now too, so I'm sure that all the unused data would have already been found. Also, the cave doesn't match or really resemble the Cerulean Cave from RBY. Still wish this was real though, and they kept it in there. I wasn't able to trade my Mewtwo over to my Gen II games so this would have been awesome.

That is true, but after all the Beta Safari Zone from Gold and Silver had pokemon fights by fishing such as Magikarp, if this was Cerulean Cave, it would have to have been cut at the very last minute, it looks as if if this is the cave, then work must've gotten far, or if this is the cave, they must've ran out of memory. But that's my theory, we should wait for someone to see if it is there. The location data for Cerulean Cave had been found in the coding, but not a map, if not counting this evidence. Until this is solved, we can make theories to find out what this may be. Since this cave doesn't resemble the cave from RBY, I'm going to say that they could only do one floor because of memory limitations.

Seems like a hack. The reason it's unavailable in Gold and Silver is because it collapsed so presumably they had story for it and wouldn't have any Pokemon made for it. I don't think it's real but there is always the possibility.

That's what they said about the cave storywise, I was talking about data and coding wise, this could be a hack, but someone could at least dig deep into the game's coding to try to see if this is indeed real. After all, it was also said that Viridian forest was "Cut Down", but the real reason in real life, it was scrapped because of memory limitations, and Cerulean Cave and Viridian Forest are in Heart Gold and Soul Silver, which sometimes confuses me, although Viridian forest makes sense. I also made a comment to the guy to find out which hex editor he used to get into there.

This sums up what I was about to say. I was curious why it was slapped back on HG/SS when the originals had the excuse they were devastated.

Oh? Go ahead, tell us what you were about to say, I'd like to hear it.

I loved this game as a kid. Silver/Gold was my first Pokemon game.

Nice find.
