Yesterday someone brought up the line Goofy says to make a point about something, but ever since hearing it again I've realized how it doesn't even make sense! @.@

 

So the line is, "Ya think we'll ever get to do something important?" He poses this question as he and Donald sit around bored waiting for KHIII

 

Something important? o.O If I remember correctly, only half an hour to an hour earlier, both Donald and Goofy arrived in the nick of time to stop Xehanort from getting his 13th vessel by falling on Guardian. Now not only did they just save the lives of 4 protagonists (Sora, Riku, Lea, and Mickey), but they also defeated Guardian, one of the final bosses from numerous Kingdom Hearts games, with one hit!

 

If that's not 'something important', I can't wait to see what they do to top that in KHIII

Additionally, while they are useless in battle in KH games they are party members in, story wise they're portrayed as actually doing something in them.  

 

I actually think Donald and Goofy will have some big role in KH3 (the line practically hints at it), but I don't think it'll be GoL.

Definitely! Especially since they're two of the only three characters that have released character art for the game, and are gonna be with Sora on this conclusive journey! ^^ And yeah, I don't mind their not being GoLs

It's obvious isn't it? They can knock that thing out with one hit so there is only one way they will be used in KH3: Catapult Donald and Goofy into some big-ass powerful enemy and the day is saved

Mayby is it cause Riku has weaken it.

See I rewatched the cut scenes at the end to try and see if it said they necessarily have to be wielders and when MX says he wants a clash between 13 darknesses and 7 lights, Mickey says the like of

"well for keyblade wielders, there's...blah"

He was the one who brought up them being keyblade wielders, so I think we most likely will end up with some non-keyblade wielders but I still don't think it will be Donald and Goofy.  I also read a theory that the 7 GoL will be each PoH's respective Prince, bar Alice who doesn't have a Prince and would end up with Riku who doesn't have a Princess.

Interesting. Nomura did say that he originally wanted Sora to team up with all the Princesses Princes to save them in Hollow Bastion.

If Donald and Goofy are not in Kh3 I will not get it. Even though I know they are. I got into the series because of Disney not because of Square.

I know it has been awhile, but yes that was me. They are my fav characters in the series just under Sora. I thought people were considering them weak.

I think it's an almost meta reflection about how they've been left out in the last handful of entries (DDD, BBS, and Days). In context of the game itself, it doesn't make sense, because they are literally just coming off of Kingdom Hearts 2, where they abetted in saving the world, which is only a year after they saved the world in KH1. Also, as someone else said, it might be a set up for a future plot point.
