This guy on Miiverse has literally been arguing with me all day yesterday about whether Paper Mario is a spin-off or not. He tells me to state the core gameplay of Mario, and I said something like "running through levels, stomping on enemies, getting a high score and grabbing the flagpole at the end". He replies, "there are flagpoles in Paper Mario 2, in the Bowser section".

...

So basically he's saying because of that one element, Paper Mario is part of the main series. :/ He'll also reply with "ignorant" or "silance fool" (he claims he's purposely misspelling silence, buuuuut...). I said the core gameplay of Paper Mario (RPG battles, experience points, upgradable HP, BP, SP), but again he says "what's the core gameplay of Super Mario. Super Mario doesn't have anything it's known for besides platforming which Paper Mario has."

Wait, what? Mario doesn't have anything he's known for? What garbage is that? He then goes on to tell me that I'M attacking the Mario series, when I never attacked anything, just stating the differences and why it's a spin off. He says "by that logic, Wind Waker Link is from a different universe", but no one said Paper Mario was set in a different universe. -_- Wikipedia says a spin off is "any form of media in which there is a substantial change in narrative or shift in action". But he keeps ignoring that and calling me ignorant.

Sorry, I just felt like ranting. I had about 8 other people say it was either a spin off or sub-series, so IDK. I'm just tired of dealing with him. He has previously claimed that you wouldn't use the Gamepad for SSB4 (because he misread "no touch screen elements") and called me a fake fan because I said "Sonic isn't a Nintendo character, but he still got in Smash". I forget what that argument was about... anyway, yeah, venting done, good day.

and good day to you also :P but yeah I've always thought of it as a spin off :)

Paper Mario is definitely a spin-off.The main titles are platformer not RPGs

Arguing's never fun, which is why I never joined speech and debate club...well that and speeches- bleh >.<

I just wouldn't deal with the guy if he's constantly trying to pick fights. :/ If starting arguments is all he has to do, he's not worth the time.

At some points you might as well just stop responding.  Some people just make noises from their mouth for the sake of making noise.

Yeah, I've seriously considered blocking him, but I don't know yet. If he STILL goes on, I'm definitely blocking him, even though I'm against blocking.

Yeah, I thought he was some kid at first, but I remember him saying something about being a Sonic fan since Sonic 1 came out... so he's probably 20 something. ._. He's an elitist, I think. He even flat-out said "I know more about Mario than any of you" to me and my friends.

Oh boy, one of those people... Yeah, it's probably best to just ignore him. He doesn't sound like he's worth the trouble. :/

A simple Wikipedia search could tell you that much.
