Alright, so I vaguely recall reading somewhere at some point in my life an interview where Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the ending he initially concocted for Dream Drop Distance wasn't approved by Disney, and hence Square headed back to the lab for a plan B as far as concluding the game.

Now I've been thinking, what kind of an ending did the sly and oh so sly Nomura come up with for Disney to cross-slap him and say 'get out' (I just referenced Hitch :D)? Could it have been an ending in which Master Xehanort successfully made Sora the thirteenth vessel? (but then Lea's badassery wouldn't have been showcased!)

Or could it have been where a very distraught Sora's mom randomly appears in Where Nothing Gathers and goes for Sora all 'Oh there you are my little powder puff!' and like Xehanort's all 'Hand's off!' you know, because, that's like his whole deal in, in that game. And then it in some way escalates to Xehanort violently slaying the mom-I should probably stop.

What do you guys think? Do you, or did you have any theories or speculation of what the original ending might've been? Or anything else you'd like to contribute?

Usually Disney only intervenes when it has something to do with their characters only. I bet everything about the ending would have remained the same, but maybe Mickey would have gotten hurt in some way? I don't know...

Disney didn't reject any ending to 3D as far as I know. Nomura said that the first ending he came up with didn't really work, so he created a new ending.

What ending? 3D was the beginning of III

Lol touché! :)

Stefan93: I actually thought the same thing when I first heard about the revised ending! (The Sora becoming the 13th vessel part, not the mom theory lol).Kingdomlanelover: I agree with you, but as I understand it, besides any Square Enix ORIGINAL characters (Final Fantasy or The World Ends With You), Disney straight up owns everything in the Kingdom Series, including the KH heroes (Sora, Roxas, etc,) and the KH villians (Xemans, Xehanort, etc.). I could be wrong though, so please correct me with evidence if so.That being said, I think Disney cares very much about Sora, Granted, they're probably A LOT more lenient with what he can do compared to what they will allow Mickey to be used for, but he is still recognized by many as a Disney character, even though he truly does fit the bill for both a Square Enix & Disney character. As for other possible failed ending theories, it really could be anything. Disney is pretty strict, but to be fair, we all know that Nomura is pretty bats**t crazy when it comes to plot (KH3D being the prime example). Some random theories I thought of:-Maybe in trying to save Sora, Mickey hurt or maybe even destroys one of the 13 Seekers of Darkness. This might not sound like a big deal, but think back on the KH series: when have we ever seen Mickey attack someone during a cutscene? Sure he's playable in KH2 and 358/2 Days, but he attacks because of the player's actions, not his own, if that makes sense?-Maybe Donald & Goofy did something bad when they dropped in? (See Mickey explanation above). Or maybe they were even tragically hurt during the rescue, and KH3D was meant to end on a cliffhanger with our three heroes (Sora, Donald, & Goofy) down for the count and leaving whether they were dead or alive up in the air. Obviously they would never kill off those three, but still, the idea of any of those 3 being "potentially" dead is a scary image for kids. (Goofy's "death scene" in KH2 doesn't count since that was resolved in minutes, whereas this cliffhanger would have fans "freaking out" for years until KH3 came out).-Maybe even Yen Sid was suppose to show up to the rescue, but Disney was against it for obvious reasons.-Maybe Nomura wanted to reveal Terra (or whoever) as a Seeker of Darkness, but showing that he was in immense pain while being controlled. Maybe a bit too traumatic for Disney to approve?-Maybe Nomura originally planned to reveal Maleficent as a Seeker of Darkness? It certainly would explain why she was in the game at all (her appearance is so brief and inconsequential it's laughable) and make her more threatening. But (very much how I view Larxene), maybe it was too much to think of a female turning into a Xehanort? Especially one of their own Disney characters?Like I said, between insane Normura and over protective Disney, it could have been any number of scenarios. But it is fun to think about, and I hope one day it is revealed what it originally was.

I don't recall that, but I didn't take a great deal of notice of the KH3D interviews when I didn't post them.

I can't really remember that , but I guess it would be something stupid .

The ending of the Mark Of Mastery Exam(or whatever it's called) of Sora and Riku AND the beginning of Kingdom Hearts III .
