A while ago, we covered how Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15 would be using Silicon Studio’s Yebis 2 engine. This was based off a listing that appeared on the middleware developer’s site which listed FF15 and having been used for the E3 2013 trailer. According to Silicon Studio on the page, “Beautiful natural light is represented as real-time computer generated effects by utilizing the optical effects of Yebis 2.”
However, when speaking to Masaki Kawase, an architect for Silicon Studio, about how Yebis 2 was used in Final Fantasy 15, he stated that, “You must have made a mistake. There was no announcement that Yebis will be used for FF15. Yebis was however used in the Final Fantasy 15 E3 2013 Trailer from Square Enix. There is nothing more we can say for now ,” he said to GamingBolt.
Take that for what you will – in fact, it could signify that though Yebis 2 isn’t being used for Final Fantasy 15, it might currently be implemented into another project Square Enix has going on. We’ll find out more in the coming months so stay tuned.
So what does that mean?Basically it means what we saw in the E3 2013 trailer wasn't from the game's actual final engine,it was just a couple of shots merged together for the sake of creating the trailer, meaning that most of the stuff we saw in the trailer might not make it to the actual game(think of it like the E3 2006 trailer of Final Fantasy XIII where most of the stuff in that trailer didn't make it to the final game) or if you want a more recent example, think of it like what happened with Watchdogs in the E3 2012 trailer and how the actual game turned out and looked like
Bottomline:This game's development is an absolute disaster, for firetruck's sake if after all those 8 years they only managed to only use the engine for the trailer that showcase nothing of how the actual game would play if it was demoed, then why should I have faith in the game's actual quality if they're not ready at all to show us the game itself but rather fake bullshit CGpre-rendered footage that's most likely won't be in the final game?
No thanks Square Enix,I'm just gonna wait for Xenoblade Chronicles X
