As we all know, your going to need a PSP to enjoy Birth By Sleep. Well I do have one, it works but there are a few things that will make me enjoy the game less.

1. The screen is scratched up beyond repair. While turning the device on hides some scratches, the light in the room and the games colors may show a lot of scratches. Certain parts of the screen get a tiny be blurred as a result of all these scratches.

2. Internet is slow as hell! It's an original PSP model and is nearly 5 years old. If the newer models have faster internet that be a bonus.

3. Some of the buttons are getting loose and/or becoming less responsive. It only takes a few seconds to die in a game and I don't want to spend those seconds trying to get the buttons to work so I can heal myself or something.

4. The weaker battery. In case you didn't know, the more you use the device, the battery slowly begins to weaken and contains less of a full charge. While it may say 100%, it may not be as long as it once was. This is beginning to happen to my PSP. A 100% charge is only about 4 hours now, compared to the 6 hours the original device can hold. A solution would to simply leave it in its charger the whole time. However when traveling this could present a problem.

5. Outdated software and hardware. The device itself is outdated. While new software can be downloaded, its not nearly as effective on newer models, the basic layout of the PSP's hardware is pretty much the same, however my components are starting to where down. The laser that scans disk is becoming less responsive and loading times are much longer. Screen resolution has also been hampered as a result of an aging device and the many scratches on my screen.

For these reasons and more that I can't think of I feel it would be a good idea to scrap my old PSP for a newer one. I came up with four options for this. I'll try to keep it short this time.

Option One: Buy a completely brand new PSP of the latest model.

Advantages;

Crystal Clear screen display

more responsive buttons

better hardware and software.

Disadvantages;

High price

I'm really only buying it for one game, I can still replay the other PSP games I have (which are a lot) but because the PSP is continuing to go on a downward spiral (BBS is its biggest release for about 2 years) I have a feeling it will suffer the fate my current PSP.

Option Two: Buy an older model that is brand new.

Advantage:

Cheap

Will feel mostly the same

Disadvantages:

Old hardware and software

Option three: Buy a used one that is a newer model.

Advantages:

Newer model but a lot cheaper

Advantages of newer model

Disadvantages:

Unaware of issues that the previous owner had with the device or damages that it may have recieved. Though the higher the price, the better the condition I assume.

Still Fairly Expensive.

Option four: Keep old model/ do nothing.

Advantages: save lots of money and time

Disadvantages: Problems listed at the beginning.

So what should I do guys?

It really depends. If the condition of you PSP is making it harder to play (which it sounds like it is) then I would try to replace it. If I were you I would try to find a used one in good condition. See if any stores that buy and sell used games are in your area, if there are there is a chance they might have a used PSP. I would only get a brand new one if you use the PSP a lot. All the options have their different pros and cons, but it depends on a lot of different factors. Personally I would go with option 2, if I could find a store that sells older PSP models.

either get a brand new older model, or stick with your existing one

i'm gonna get a 3DS when it comes out, and if you want one (which i wouldn't blame you for), you should stick with your current one, since it's still in a playable state atm
