Firaga 5,947 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Well, this is a first. I'm actually making a thread about a series that I've finished. But yeah, I just got done with the anime, so I decided to make a thread for it (also considering I couldn't find a thread for. For those of you who don't know, "Black Lagoon" is an anime/manga series by Rei Hiroe about a team of pirate mercenaries called the Lagoon Company, that smuggle goods in and around the seas of Southeast Asia in the early to mid 1990s, with the series also being featured in other real life countries and locations around the world. Its got lots of action, gun-slinging, gore, blood, dark themes, and overall, its a really serious and mature series. So if you're looking for something that's a little more heavy set in real life and not too silly like, say, a shonen series, then this is for you. I personally loved the anime. Studio Madhouse did a great job with the animation and the overall presentation of the story. I haven't read the manga yet, but I intend to. Also, there's this 5 episode OVA series that adapts some more story in the manga so I'm gonna check that out too. The only complaint I had with the anime is that ended after only adapting 43 chapters of the manga. To be fair, though, the ending did leave room for the series to continue, and though it might be a long shot for it to get more episodes, it's still possible. Also, I've heard from other fans that the whole "realism" vibe was ruined by a few over the top action scenes at times, but eh, this is anime. You can't expect it to be that realistic. lol I also heard them say that they like the first season better than the second because the first is a little more comedic, and while I agree that the comedy is good in this series, its not what I personally care about, so I can't really agree with that. Besides, there was more character development and serious vibes in the second season than the first, and I thought it sent the message of the show better that way. So then, if you guys are interested, check it out. All the episodes are available for dub and sub, and so is the OVA series, and you can find manga translations online for the manga. Be warned: from what I've seen, the process of releasing new chapters and volumes is very slow, so you might want to have some patience. Other than that, have a blast. Literally... t-that's a gun joke... Bang. *shoots* Edited September 7, 2014 by Firaga Sensei 2 Reyn and Alicia Maddox reacted to this
