That’s led many to assume that the studio’s working on a sequel, but in a statement posted on itsFacebook page, the organisation has revealed that that’s not actually the case. “While we, like you, dearly love the Cooper gang, we are not currently working with PlayStation on a project and there are no plans to work on another Sly Cooper title,” a spokesperson said.

Well, this made me disappointed. I loved Sanzaru's work with Sly 4, especially after how much the third disappointed me (It was a good game, but strayed too far from the thievery theme of the past games, at least in my opinion), and was hoping they would make another game. I guess Sucker Punch could be taking the franchise back, but I'd love to see Sanzaru make a fifth game.

I think if the film does well that'll change.

Probably means that Sucker Punch is taking it back. They've always been really enthusiastic about the franchise, and since they just finished some major Infamous titles, they're free up for another Sly game. I liked Sly 4 a lot, but I didn't necessarily notice much of a difference between the PS2 titles and the PS3 one (in terms of dialogue, gameplay, etc) so I think it'll be okay.

Of course, there's always the worst-case scenario that Sony handed it off to a third/second party dev as a crummy tie-in for the movie, but I doubt that's what it is.

You're probably spot on.
