Sora96 17,256 Posted January 9, 2015 Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has now sold 1.01 million copies worldwide on PlayStation 3 alone not including digital. On Xbox 360 it has sold 0.22 million copies worldwide not including digital. That's a combined 1.23 million copies worldwide not including digital. And with the PC port coming in a few months it'll make Square Enix even more money going by the impressive sales of Final Fantasy XIII on Steam. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster has now sold 1.19 million copies worldwide on PS3 and 0.68 million copies worldwide on PS Vita. That's a combined 1.87 million copies worldwide. Again, not including digital sales but we know for a fact this title topped the PlayStation Store sales charts in March 2014 and we also know it had sold over 500,000 copies in Japan alone in early December as it won an award for doing so. With a PlayStation 4 port and potential PC port on the way who knows what this HD collection will end up with. Important to remember FFX and FFX-2 were two of the highest selling games in Square Enix history on PS2. All numbers as of December 27, 2014. All numbers thanks to VGChartz. 3 PillowHead, WakelessDream and Soravids reacted to this

That's great, but sadly the PS4 version won't do as well. LR deserves more.... It's such a great game. The first KH game sold more than X-2. Sora96 17,256 Posted January 9, 2015 It's a guarantee. PS4 has a fraction of the install base of the PS3 It has double the install base of PS Vita though. And this port will continue to sell over the console's life cycle.
hatok 6,413 Posted January 9, 2015 It has double the install base of PS Vita though. And this port will continue to sell over the console's life cycle. It'll sell in some small quantity digitally, but unlike Nintendo games, the average length of significant sales for most games is less than a year. Less than two months in a lot of cases, really

HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted January 9, 2015 Why do you keep putting X/X2 HD sales with sales of unrelated games? It's not even really news, it's not like it just recently passed some important milestone, it's just sold more copies. So have lots of games. 6 Setrex, Terranort9406, 143436611Xxcc and 3 others reacted to this
hatok 6,413 Posted January 9, 2015 That's not the case with most Square Enix games. uh... yes with most Square Enix games. There's a reason why Lightning Returns and FFXHD are both down to 20 bucks. Sales are slowing, and they want to squeeze what they can out of people on the fence You can generally gauge a game's success by how long they maintain the 60 (or 70/80) dollar price, as well as how long they maintain the inevitable 40 dollar mark down 1 Oli reacted to this

hatok 6,413 Posted January 9, 2015 1/3 of Square Enix's sales are digital. well two things they're financially struggling, so that might explain a few things right there and two, that's almost definitely because of sheer quantity. They've rereleased so many of their old games on so many digital platforms, it's sales by a thousand cuts 2 Dio Brando and Sendou Aichi reacted to this
Dio Brando 5,810 Posted January 9, 2015 What milestone? Bravely Default alone sold more than both versions of Lightning Returns If anything this is pretty bad for Final Fantasy standards
Soravids 1,056 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) That's what you think. Your point? Well you said they were the two biggest PS2 games for Square, but KH1 sold more than X-2. Paying 50 dollars for a PS2 game that' already been remaastered probably won't go down too well. Edited January 9, 2015 by soravids

hatok 6,413 Posted January 9, 2015 FF9 arrived at the tail end of the Ps1's life cycle yet it sold much much more than LRFFXIII Hello? This is final fantasy we're talking about FF9 was an original game, not a sequel, the FF brand was worth more back then And it doesn't matter if it's Final Fantasy, it's a sequel to a sequel to a not terribly well received games. For the budget the game had, a million is plenty
Dio Brando 5,810 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) the FF brand was worth more back then That's sad now that I think about it I mean back then even shit like X-2 sold a lot. Just goes to show how low Final Fantasy has fell as a franchise......hopefully FFXV might restore some of the series's lost glory..........maybe Edited January 9, 2015 by Smash Mega Koopa

Just goes to show how low Final Fantasy has fell as a franchise......hopefully FFXV might restore some of the series's lost glory..........maybe FFX is one of the most popular PlayStation games of all time. Of course the sequel sells well. And you might not have liked it's story but a lot of people did like X-2.
Jim 2,990 Posted January 21, 2015 FF9 arrived at the tail end of the Ps1's life cycle yet it sold much much more than LRFFXIII That's because FF9 was good Just goes to show how low Final Fantasy has fell as a franchise......hopefully FFXV might restore some of the series's lost glory..........maybe Quoting two of your posts because I'm cool like that Well, the thing is, notice how this whole "decline in quality" started happening after Toriyama started putting his grubby mitts on the series. Like FF10 and 12 were good (I hear 11 and 14 are too) but any game that Toriyama's team is associated with (X-2, XIII, XIII-2 [which I like, but it wasn't perfect], and LR) since 10 have been rather lackluster compared to their predecessors. And when he's told that people don't like his games, he says "oh people's opinions lighten with time." But on the other hand, look at Tabata with XV now. He knows the fans want it. He knows and respects that Nomura had a vision for the title, but wasn't the best at following through with it. And in all his interviews, he is honest and humble, and he even says how he makes an effort to listen to fans responses (like with his recent Kotaku interview). He realizes his mistakes when he makes them (i.e. the screw up with the "hold button to attack" feature that he didn't advertise very well at first). And he's trying to be as open with us as possible without completely spoiling the game. If nothing else, I have faith that this title will be decent at the very least, because the dudes working on it seem more competent than Toriyama. They clearly actually want to make a good game, and not just use it to advertise their waifu raituningu<333333334333w42refdv Sorry that was kinda off-topic 2 Dio Brando and Sarah Choco reacted to this
