Sora96 17,256 Posted October 2, 2015 The story is as follows: During early FFX development, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the series creator was on his way to Hawaii so he could manage Square Pictures. He needed someone to take over as Producer and run Square's #1 division. He chose Yoshinori Kitase due to his work as a writer on FFV then a Director on VI and sole Director for VII & VIII. As such, Kitase was promoted to Producer and then Kitase needed a successor for Director and he named Motomu Toriyama, an Event Planner on FFVII and currently Event Director for FFX. However the project was already in development and this was Toriyama's first project as Director so Takayoshi Nakazato, Field Planning Director and Toshiro Tsuchida, Battle System Director were also promoted. Motomu Toriyama would go on to direct Final Fantasy X Eternal Calm, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII as well as supervise Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster with Producer Yoshinori Kitase. He would also direct Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and Blood of Bahamut along with write for many titles. Right now, he is almost certain to be Event Director on FFVII Remake. 2 WakelessDream and The Transcendent Key reacted to this

So excited to get FF X/X-2 HD soon. I also know he helped with Kingdom Hearts a bit with Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Pretty cool if you ask me. 1 Sora96 reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 11,997 Posted October 4, 2015 Hmm, that's very interesting! Mr. Toriyama has had quite the storied career in Square Enix! Good for him! I'm sure he'll keep lending his talents to Square for as long as he's able! 1 Sora96 reacted to this
