Anime | Manga Top 5 of the most terrible, worst, shitty anime of the decade

Recommended Posts

There's good anime, bad anime, and shitty anime. In this topic, I'll review five of the most shitty anime of the decade. Also, if you like these anime, I respect your opinion. And now..........the top five most shitty anime of the decade. Let's begin.

5: Sword Art Online

Posted Image

This anime had potential. It could have been the big thing besides DBZ Super and One Piece. But like most animes, the series turn into shit after the first couple of episodes. This is one of those animes where fanservice isn't a good thing. The show revolves around the main character Kirito and his in-game (and later IRL) girlfriend Asuna and their story after they get trapped within an MMO that causes its players to die for real if they die within the game. It seemed like an interesting concept that was executed in all the wrong ways.orld and the quest to level up and beat the final boss to "escape" the MMO. However, instead of focusing on that quest, the series focuses heavily on the romance aspect of the series. Much of he leveling and dungeoning processes are simply skipped over in favor of giving the main male lead Kirito more time with one of his many lady friends (namely Asuna). At one point during the show, the series goes way off track when Kirito and Asuna decide to get married in game and go have a honeymoon for 2 whole episodes. Why directors, why? We want action, adventure, and unique themes. Not this love bullshit. main character Kirito is 100x worse. He is by far the worst gary stu I've ever seen in an anime. The series essentially revolves around proving how awesome and special Kirito is. (When he's not cool at all.) Kirito, like Asuna, is originally described as a loner that prefers to play alone, also known as a "beater" in the game. But, can they least show some challenges for the main character? He always kick some boss or beat someone up with ease like he's Superman or something. How the f*** can he easily beat enemies. Did he grind early in the show? Or just using power boosts all the time? We'll never know due to this love shit. The second season is the same thing expect there's incest, Asuna getting captured like Peach, and no deaths. The third season is the same as the first, but we actually got a villain, who is f****** generic and nothing special. He uses a gun to kill people. Hooray. -_- Also, Kirito is a girl. Way to promote rule 63. If you want a proper MMO anime, watch Horizon Log. It has action, adventure, a good plot, and comedy.

4: K-ON!

Posted Image

K-ON! is another entry in the moe slop-bucket of shitty anime. Once again, all the girls are totally cute(But wtf with the blonde girl eye brows), and we get to see their adventures of daily life. Nothing much happens. We pretty much watch normal teenage girls do stuff. That must be why it is so popular. It can’t be the plot (it doesn’t have one), it can’t be the action (it doesn’t have any), it can’t be the incredible acting (it doesn’t have that because the acting is shitty), and it can’t be the amazing character growth (it doesn’t have any). If the writers/director/animators had put one tenth of the effort into storytelling that they did into making cute character designs, then this show could have been ok in anime standards. It would be better if it ended like this: Posted Image

Then the anime would be less shitty.

3: School Days

Posted Image

Is School Days the worst anime ever? No. It is the worst THING ever. I only watched it because if its noterity, and it is well deserving of all the hate it gets. The story is barf inducing and the charecters are some of the worst people in any story line. The main character gets killed and the voice acting is terrible. The anime is so terrible and bland that I don't want to go in greater detail. Just avoid this anime in all costs.

2: Kill la Kill

Posted Image

This show is, without a doubt, the most pure, unadulterated bullshit I have ever watched, with a story more contrived than Bleach, ten times the asspull of Naruto and death note combined, and characters more obnoxious than even Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. If it were not for the way it was delivered, and the obvious satire on ridiculous shitty anime tropes that this show embodies, it would be one of the worst anime of all time.

The anime is about a transfer student who looks a person who you don't want to f*** with, Ryuuko. And how she's trying to find her father's killer. (Her father looks like Dr. Wily. Surprised that Capcom didn't sue) On her disposal is the half of a scissors blade and her faithful fighting suit which was designed by her father and reveals as much skin as possible, pretty similar to what you would see in a strip club where the dancers aren't paid enough to go full nude (It seems people forgot about plot than nudity) Also, the suit is alive. The first time they met looks like a freakin hentai situation. The suit feeds on her blood to give her power. At this point it's almost impossible not to make a period joke but I'll show restraint. (Because I don't want to hurt the females feeling) The whole school (if you can call it that, honestly there's been a max of like 2 scenes where we see a lesson) wears some short of battle suits and because of the school leader's order everyone is aiming at Ryuuko to kill her. Yeah, the plot is shit and filled with unintresting stuff, it's just an excuse to fill the episodes with over the top action, transformation scenes, and nudity. The school leader, the second most important character in the series Kiryuuin Satsuki is supposedly the daughter of a cloth-making company, has a similar suit to Ryuuko's and knows who Ryuuko's father's killer is, but won't reveal it to her because... Because the script writers wanted us to be amazed by the "sudden" twist that Satsuki was not actually the killer (And she's Ryuuko sister. So Ryuuko x Satsuki ship is dead unless you like incest). Satsuki is as strict and always angry looking as possible which after a while becomes rather boring and annoying. The side characters are boring, one sided or just plain assholes. Satsuki gang or students are unintresting with nothing unique about them. One is a over confident sword wielder like most anime characters, second is a nerd who has the mind of Xehanort, third is a great giant dude who character is I really like (Because he protects students from harm), and a pink overconfident asshole who likes music. Ryuuko best friend or aka joke character is unintresting at best. She mostly runs/teleport around the place cheering for her friend. Or just eating with her awesome family. Mostly she's eating. Oh yeah, later in the story she faces her mother with Satsuki. Both team up to kill their mother who kill herself believeing clothing is supreme. Anyway, it's pretty shitty and should be avoided.

1: Lucky Star

Posted Image

For some disturbing reason, the latter half of the decade was plagued with an onslaught of “cute” flat-chested girls who sit around and do nothing. (Thank god One Piece and new original animes saved us from this massacre of anime) Lucky Star is the shitty epitome of everything that is wrong with the current state of anime. No plot, super moe, unfunny, nothing f******* happens, no action, no character development, and a completely vapid waste of time. Now, I know what you’re going to say, “BUT DUDE THEY ARE TEH UBER CUTE AND IT'S A SLICE OF LIFE ANIME LOL” Sorry, but you’re so wrong. What’s “entertaining” is subjective, but not what’s good. Lucky Star can be entertaining to people who are functionally awesome and don't know what's is life, but nobody with any standards in storytelling would find it appealing. The latest T-Pain song may entertain you, but you probably wouldn’t say it’s good like something by The Beatles or KISS. This is trash anime, the pinnacle of horribleness, the anime version of Satan and Hitler’s child. It only solidified the popularity of the vapid-moe/slice-of-life trend, and for that it deserves the title of shittiest anime of the decade. Plus, its opening song is an audio holocaust.

Saw a review on school days and was just scarred...not even a heavy anime watcher so I didn't have a heavy critical opinion based on the others i had seen, I just was left with a really creeped out feeling after seeing it. I couldn't decide to feel bad for the person made out to be the villain or just not care anymore. Rest of em I have not seen anything about so I have no rating on them. But yes, its all opinion :P

Kill la Kill wasn't THAT bad. The list is also missing the tripe that is Attack on Titan.

Then again... Opinions.

But, Attack on Titan is currently the only anime/manga that I currently care about. *Cries*, but seriously, what's wrong with Attack on Titan? It's got a really great storyline, two incredible theme songs, likable characters, pretty good animation (although a bit laggy at times), and really really awesome fight scenes. To each his own I guess.

Well for SAO, some people in real life actually found love through video games & MMOs, so some people can relate. I actually have some friends who actually started a relationship like that. And it's only for 2 episodes out of 25 so it's not that bad. If it was for like half the season, then yeah, that would be bad. As for Lucky Star, it's not to be taken seriously. And yes, there is no plot, it's an episodic series so you can start watching it at any episode and still enjoy it. I personally love it for the voice cast, anime & video game references, and comedy.

I knew SAO would be on this. Only saw the first and last ep of school days because GORE! And saw a couple of klk episodes

Anyway, I have to agree with SAO. It was just bad, and the second season was very unappealing. The incest was disturbing too. Just blegh

That's your opinion. Don't force it onto other people.

I'm not forcing my opinion. It's my review. If you like these animes, then fine. I respect your opinion of liking it.

Way to insult people. I would argue with you but as with all people with these kinds of opinions, you are either too full of yourself, ignorant or just a troll.

This is a REVIEW. I'm not insulting anyone. I respect your opinion if you're a fan of these animes. Edited by ラッキー

Saying these are the worst and shitty is like people saying The Walking Dead is the worst and shittiest TV show of the decade. It's not, and neither are these by a long shot. The worst ones are usually much less well known.

In other words, you should really say they're your least favorite instead of causing a potential flame war because you don't like certain popular animes.

i used to like SAO but then i watched some hour long video explaining why it wasn't a good show and it made some pretty good arguments. now i see it as a bleh show with some interesting fight scenes here and there. music isn't too shabby either. the second half of season one got pretty uncomfortable as well.

This does not in the least way seem respectful to me, but hey that could just be me, not knowing what life is.

Saying these series are objectively bad is just plain wrong. You may think they're bad, because none of these things embody what you think an anime truly should be. And saying something is bad because nothing is happening and there "is no story" only says something about how you view anime in general.

Huh, I'm kinda surprised how sensitive some of the commenters on here are.  You flat out said that if someone likes any of the anime you've listed, you'd respect their opinions.  And we all have negative or unpopular opinions; don't deny it people. >.>

Anyway, I've never seen any of these before, so I don't have an honest opinion on them.  Although, it sounds like I'd agree with you on K-ON and Lucky Star; I've never liked all the happy, everyday life high school animes with no plots and moe kawaii desu~ girls.  K-ON sounds like it would be much better if it took a horror route like Another and Higurashi (but I'm pretty biased cause like those types of animes)

I've heard very mixed things about SAO; either people love it, or hate it.  For a while, I considered watching it, because I love the fantasy and adventure genre.  And then I heard there was incest in it.  Yeah, no thanks.  Plus, if its mostly a love story like you said, then I think I dodged a bullet.  I'm glad you said Log Horizon is good though, because I plan on watching it soon.

Not gonna lie, I still want to see Kill la Kill; it sounds interesting.  So, I'll have to see for myself if its bad or not.  As for School Days, I hear everyone hates it, so I have no interest in it.

I personally don't like High School of the Dead and the Rosario+Vampire anime.  In High School of the Dead, the main female character is your typical tsundere jerk, and the rest of the characters are also walking stereotypes.  The main hero who's handsome and otherwise boring, the geek, the badass, the blonde ditz, and another tsundere. Oh, and there's a ridiculous amount of fanservice; seriously the blonde doesn't even wear a bra and her boobs jiggle all the time. *Yawn*

As for Rosario+Vampire, while the manga is okay, the anime is again, nothing but fanservice.  While the manga had some plot, the anime is just like all the other high school animes with sexy, big-breasted girls, and no plot.  Except, this time its with monsters and not humans (even though the monsters disguise themselves as humans)  Just have a wimpy male lead have a harem and you have Rosario+Vampire.

Ah, sorry for the long reply.  Just wanted to share my thoughts.

PS: I'm surprised you didn't have the infamous Boko no Piko on here, or is it because that anime's so horrendous, that its just common knowledge that its the worst thing to come from this planet that there was no need to have it here?

Funny, but not exactly an in-depth review, seeing as you put in five different anime to talk about in the post.

There's good anime, bad anime, and shitty anime. In this topic, I'll review five of the most shitty anime of the decade. Also, if you like these anime, I respect your opinion.

Just want to say that some people in this thread really overreacted to the criticisms you put out there, even if those criticisms were executed crudely. People hide behind the claim that it's all opinion based, but then they turn around and call something like Justin Beiber's music or Twilight shit. In order for something to be considered good, you have to factor in an objective viewpoint, or else everything could be considered good, since some random person thought it was good. Not exactly calling any one person out, since I've run into this kind of thought process multiple times, and it's been annoying me for a while.

Want to point out they did imply a time skip and that he solo'd multiple enemies during that time. Not the best way to do an action show though. Also, as a nitpick, the Fairy Dance Arc is a part of the first season. Guns could be cool, but the way they tried to utilize the guns for action was not really fun, since Kirito decided to firetruck it and just use a lightsaber. Also, I found Log Horizon to be quite a jarring difference from SAO. Namely, it paid more attention to the strategies, politics and individual lives of the people living in the game, rather than the action. The action it does have is okay, but nothing to get excited over or watch it for. It's supposed to be a slower paced anime, as far as i could tell. Your other points I essentially agree with.

2: Kill la Kill

I, again, agree with most of your points here. I disagree that it should be outright overlooked though. I personally liked the ridiculousness of the anime, and it being self-aware made it even better, since they could basically burn the envelope in regards to the limits to the sheer amount of stupidity it contains. In the end, you're right, since at some points you couldn't really tell when it was being satirical or actually playing out the trope, but I'd at least recommend that they should watch the first 2 or 3 episodes to get a feel for how the anime works, and see if they would enjoy it.

The other three I haven't watched. For K-On, I've heard it is the pinnacle of the slice of life genre, and made by KyoAni, so I want to at least try it. For School Days, I've been spoiled the whole plot of, so I don't feel the need to watch it, but not comfortable enough to give my opinion on it. For Lucky Star, my sister watched it, and I was disinterested in what parts I saw.

As for your whole review, I'd recommend cleaning it up, formatting wise and language wise. Reading through all of that was a bit of an eyesore. Splitting it up into multiple paragraphs would definitely help. As evident in this thread, many people have wrote off your opinion as a troll review, or a hater. It'd help get your opinions taken more seriously if you didn't use cuss words as much. I think it's more effective using foul language less frequently, because when it does pop up, readers would know how much you mean it. I hope you take my criticisms to heart, since it hurts me seeing someone's opinions get disregarded as a troll.

Edit: I also want to tack on that some other people's points on here are right as well. Just because an anime has no story, it doesn't mean it's inherently bad. The aim of a slice of life show is to have no overarching plotline. In essence, by thinking that way, you are automatically disregarding an entire genre that actually has some good moments as bad. Also, it would've been better putting as least favorite, rather than outright shitty, since there are a plethora of other shitty anime that went under the radar, since it was that bad.
