I don't find button mashing repetitive

Posted

Anyways, like I've said in my status updates, all I really care about is the combos. In tales of vesperia, the most regulated tales of symphonia battle system i've played, I can come up with a lot of combos with Yuri Lowell. In tales of xillia 1 and 2, I can come up with A LOT of combos with characters in the game, especially with Jude.

I can guarantee a lot of peple like button mashing, including me, and I don't know what's wrong with that. As long as you have fun playing the game then who cares?

So anyways, nothing is wrong with that opinion. I respect that.I actually know a pretty good combo for Jude.Try this:Attack, up tilt attack, Swallow Dance, Rising Falcon, Demon Fist, Jump->Attack combo (where he says "I won't fall!" over and over)Or, just go with my brother's combo:Demon Fist, Demon Fist, Demon Fist, Demon Fist... And repeat. xDRock on!

Button mashing is probably naturally happening. I do it every time I play KH.

Yeah it can be fun,I love Hyrule Warriors,I played that game over 600 hours trying to 100% the game and as soon as they release the DLC I'll go back to it. And I had fun with all the Dynasty Warroirs game I played so far.God of War,Castlevania Lords of Shadow and Bayonetta are also great, but if I were to make a list of my favorite games they would probably not be on that list.

It honestly depends on the button mashing for me. If it's something where you can mash buttons but still need to dodge out of the way of attacks, then I'm cool with that. That's one of the main reasons why I love games like Bayonetta. Or if it's something like any of the Warriors games where you get to utterly destroy thousands of enemies. Though if a game were to just be one of those games where you just mashed buttons and did barely anything else, then it wouldn't be too fun. *Glares at Dragonball Z Sagas*

I think we should start this conversation by defining what "button smashing" means.

People use it a lot, so I'd might as well use it.

To me, "button smash" is to tap a ceirtan button many times in order to do something in a game (may it be the reaction commands in KH2, combos in other games or the loading scene in several Dragon Ball games).

On topic, I prefer to press different buttons in order to do something or press it in the right moment.

The way I see it, button mashing is the video game equivalent of sprinting really hard in real life. You're putting more effort into something you are already doing in an attempt to yield more desirable results. In the case of sprinting it is getting from point A to point B faster, while with video games it's racking up combos faster or in the case of QTEs making sure you don't miss anything. I see no problem with button mashing, especially when it's an option to do so rather than the only way to do anything.

I wouldn't really consider combo making as button mashing, at least in things like the Tales games, unless you're either using the same move repeatedly or are just doing random stuff. Aaaand you aren't really doing that, so yeah xD

Demon Fist, Demon Fist, Demon Fist, Demon Fist... And repeat. xD

Jude must still be practicing xP

for me, I don't honestly care about it as long as the game's fun and the story's good in action rpgs :)

If the overall gameplay mechanics is good and doesn't cause me issues, I'm fine with it.
