How the live action worlds should look seems to be a very controversial subject. There are two main groups: the people who want them to adjust the look of the movies to make them slightly more cartoony and fit in better, and then the people who think that they should make them as realistic as possible and as close to how they actually look in the films as possible.

I, personally, am a part of the second group. I absolutely loved seeing Sora and the rest of the cartoony cast in live action settings. I think it's very interesting and pleasing to look at and just the whole idea of it in general is amazing to me. I'd absolutely love to see Sora and the gang exploring the various live action planets of Star Wars or the live action settings of Asgard or Narnia, while fighting alongside live action characters. Many people seem to think it doesn't make much sense to have live action movies in KH, but I think it makes complete sense. Every world is different and has different settings and different people. Some, with different styles, such as Halloween Town, and I think the concept of live action movies as worlds fits in with that theme perfectly. When you first arrive at Port Royal, Sora even mentions that this world looks strange, which I think is awesome. I dunno, I just love the idea of a contrast of art styles, while many other people seem to disagree.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

In my ignorable opinion, the cartoon look of Sora, Donald, and Goofy in Port Royal was jarring: they were way too bright, and looked like weird mutants anatomy wise compared to more human-modeld characters. And their colour palate was way too varied compared to the duller grays and browns of Port Royal.

It didn't look too bad in DDD in the Tron world, but it clashed a little on the models. The people there look like real people, and Sora and Riku stick out with slightly anime-style feautres.

If they add anymore live action worlds, I'm kinda hoping they change the style to a more KH-looking one, so it doesn't clash as badly when Sora is there.

Just my ignorable opinion.

The KH original characters stuck out a lot in Port Royal but with the new graphics I wouldn't mind seeing Enchanted or another one but I think it'd be weird to see KH characters in any modern setting that is on Earth

Port Royal is a real life Earth setting and it still looks very similar to how it did in the pirate ages, but I get what you mean. Seeing Sora in New York, flying around with the Avengers would be very strange. I'm not opposed to the idea though, I think it would be strange, but exciting and interesting at the same time.

Well, Sora will have fun in/near San Fransokyo at least!

Honestly, I find it hard to care anymore.

Literally every world that Sora, Donald, or Goofy visit is going to clash with their appearance regardless because Sora looks like he's from Final Fantasy and Donald and Goofy are a damn anthro-duck and dog, and even in worlds based on purely animated properties, all three of them are going to stick out like a sore thumb. You just can't make that work on its own.

Unless the aesthetic changes to a degree where it all blends into one consistent style, this argument is void to me. And honestly, making live action characters into cartoons is just going to look stupid unless its done in a way like Disney Infinity. Again, consistency is key.

My though in general is that firstly if it's original cartoon counterpart is already present in the KH universe, DO NOT put the live action version in. This should be a no-brainer. Unless you're willing to delve into the sideways roadmap of multiple universes, there is really no point in putting two versions of the same movie in the same game at the same time, it just contradicts what's already been established. If it is a live action remake and the original has not been put into the series yet, then I say it's all fair game, though my personal preference would be the cartoon version, since it's more iconic and likely what most fans will be asking for anyway.

Secondly, it's got to be something that makes sense and that a large enough amount of people are asking for, as well be something that the team wants to include as well. I'm sure that there's a minority out there that wants to see the live action Jungle Book get added to KH3 or something, but considering how Nomura and the team have been trying repeatedly to get the original cartoon version into the game, I think it's pretty safe to say that if JB is added, it will likely be the cartoon. The interest there far outweighs the live action version, which would still be too new to even have a fully established popularity yet. There is such a thing as too new sometimes, and it's usually when something is steadily becoming popular but wasn't an instant-hit like Frozen or Big Hero 6, it takes time to know whether enough people would want it or not.

Third, it's story and world just have to be fitting enough. The main debate that goes behind whether this live action movie should be included or why that live action movie shouldn't typically tends to come down to this. A world, animated or live action, just really has to have enough going on with it's story and environment in order to have a real fitting place in Kingdom Hearts. Aside from Disney iconography, the main story or or conflict of the movie has to be one where the Heartless and other enemies' presence would feel like something that adds to the events of the world's story rather than distract from it. I mean I bring this up every time someone thinks they want to see National Treasure in a KH game, it just would look and feel really really weird if you had to see Nicolas Cage being accompanied not only by Sora and co but also getting chased by Heartless while being simultaneously being chased by the bad guys of the movie and take time to solve puzzles while going through a bunch of real world locations while talking about a bunch of political and historical conspiracy theory nonsense and treasure and all that stuff. How exactly would the conflict of light vs darkness and good vs evil fit in with something as already messy as that? If anything it would just make the story of the world look unimportant by comparison, which is something no world's inclusion in a KH game should ever do.

Of course we're not talking live action movies in general here, we're focusing on remakes. But I bring this up because I feel the same rules still apply. If you're going to make ANY choice regarding what gets included in Kingdom Hearts, it has to make sense. Having Maleficent being an already established character in the series but then adding the movie Maleficent as a world would just be so contradictory in nature that it makes no sense to include it. Including the upcoming remake of Pete's Dragon in KH would likely not fit too well either even though it would be new to the series, and though I will admit that I have no idea how the story will be handled, I'm just going to assume for now that it will be mostly faithful to the original and revolve around a boy and his invisible dragon getting into shenanigans in a contemporary setting, not really leaving much room for a good vs bad kind of scenario.

Long story short, a lot of factors have to go into consideration before putting any world into KH, especially more so with the live action titles.

Original Live Action Properties like John Carter and Oz, The Great and Powerful, I am completely down for! Live-action fairytales on the other hand should only start after Kingdom Hearts III. A new chapter in the series should introduce us to the new worlds.
