  1. Just came here to say, it means a lot to me that Nomura has finally created a black (or at least a dark skinned) KH original character.

Also, KINGDOM HEARTS IV! I got so used to getting side games instead of numbered titles that I didn’t expect this to actually happen. I love the idea of having the realistic quadratum as the fictional world and the cartoony disney worlds as the real world. People are already speculating that Star Wars will be in the game. So…Marvel and Thanos anyone? 😅

  2. Answered the poll!

Also. people are saying that Square is already working on XVI and Yoshida is directing it. Nothing but speculation, but still. It is possible that there's a team that's already working on it, it wouldn't be the first time that 2 main entries are being made at the same time. If not, the team over at Luminous Studios is also working on a new IP. Now that they've finished their engine and know how to utilize it fully, we might actually get to see the full potential of the Luminous Engine. So that's something to be excited about ? As long as they manage their teams and ressources properly, VII Remake shouldn't get in the way of XVI being made (unless they consciously decide not to make it before the Remake is complete).

  3. Finished the game yesterday. I never played the original, but I know some of the big events that happen in the original game, like Cloud's psyche being a mess because of Zack and Aerith dying and Sephiroth being an experiment and the attack on Nibelheim and...well you get it.

Gameplay was AMAZING. Feels like a true evolution of the latest FF games. It took some elements from XIII, maybe a little inspo from XV and some elements from OG FF7 and blended and balanced everything perfectly.

Story was pretty good. As a "partial" newcomer who doesn't really have the nostalgia factor to contribute to my enjoyment, I did feel like the pacing was a little slow at times, but the characters and the intrigue made up for it. And the ending, wow. I did not expect that. Very meta in a way... I liked it though.

I don't think they're going to deviate heavily from the original game in future installments but I think they've created a good intrigue to keep players invested. Smart move. I'm actually more excited to see what's next on that front than on the KH front, which is weird cause I've always been a bigger KH fan than FF fan.

  4. Spoiler

From what I understand, Sora needed to pass through the hearts of guardians to "not stray too far" from the true power of waking since, as we've come to learn, that is dangerous and forbidden. The power of waking, as Xehanort said, is meant to "traverse hearts to reach worlds" so that's exactly what Sora does in Re:Mind. He traverses the guardians hearts to navigate the past and also to find Kairi's heart. As for how Sora can physically exist in the past...they were kind of inconsistent about that, but we know that Sora was previously able to maintain a physical form without his body because of Kairi (in Chain of Memories and the Final World). So maybe Kairi's heart was doing something again. We also know, that Sora isn't time traveling properly. So he didn't discard his body to travel to the past...I don't know where I'm going with this, but it might have something to do with that.

  5. Does w/ Orchestral version mean I can finally listen to the AMAZING live arrangement of the Final Boss theme instead of the synthetic version we got in the game ? or is it just the concert video?

EDIT: I like that we know absolutely NOTHING about the secret episode. It's like it doesn't even exist right now lol. They definitely changed their marketing strategy in comparison to when they were promoting the main game.

I'm confused about "main story update"

Re:Mind is a separate scenario from the main story (seemingly an epilogue). Main story update probably means that they'll also be adding a few elements (cutscenes perhaps) to the main game as well. Notice that this is under the Free DLC section, so everyone will get access to this update even if they don't buy Re:Mind.

It would be really interesting if this entire DLC is just showing how Sora saves Kairi and has to redo the events again, but with the benefit of knowing the future.

I was thinking it would be something like that. My theory was that as Sora's looking for Kairi, he's going to meet Chirithy and discover that they've been in some kind of time loop and that discovering what happened in a previous cycle of that time loop (being Re:minded of it) is somehow the key to finding Kairi. But honestly, I think your interpretation is spot on and much more likely.

    You should play it.
It adds: 1 new story boss + the 6 org members that were killed in chain of memories + 1 new secret hard boss.
It only adds a new hidden level under hollow bastion, and tons of side quests.

There are also the Data Org. bosses, so that's like 13 more if you count those.

I hope the DLC shows how Sora saves Kairi

Yes!!! I hope that's what the secret episode is, and I hope it gives us a proper conclusion that makes the sacrifice feel less like a last minute rushed decision (an emotional sacrifice scene to conclude the whole thing with a "I'll come back to you, I promise" a la KH1 would be satisfying for example) as well as a hint as to how Sora might return. Would be really cool if it allowed us to play as Kairi for a part of it as she tries to save herself, but I doubt this'll happen lol. Wishful thinking.

  10. Here's a translation from @YanilynGaming on twitter:

"Tetsuya Nomura just announced the upcoming DLC contents at the KH Orchestra.

The temporary title is “Kingdom Hearts III ReMIND”

    Paid

    -Additional Scenario “ReMIND”

    -Limit Episode + Boss

    -Secret Episode + Boss

    -English VA Option

    Free

    -New Keyblade + New Form"

  11. I think "Guardians of the Galaxy" is the most fitting movie for a KH game. It's light, colorful and the vibe is weird/funny so everyone would fit right in. Maybe Ego would be a nice place to visit? Asgard is also a very good fit for Kingdom Hearts I think. After seeing how epic Olympus was in KHIII, I'm sure they'd nail an Asgard world. I also LOOOOVE "Black Panther" and I would love to play in an explorable Wakanda. Sadly, the themes in Black Panther are pretty political (you know how some gamers are when it comes to politics and diversity in video games -.-) and considering diversity and racial sensitivity aren't really Square Enix's forte, I don't really think they would handle it well. So my vote goes to Guardians!

  12. I don't think saying it is one of the worst in the series means they hate it. It could also mean it's just among their least favorite games in the series. For my part, I like all the games in the series (except UX), I just think some are better than others. In DDD's case, I personally have a big problem with the combat. You HAVE to rely on flowmotion and deck commands to do damage. The base combos are terrible and the enemies don't stagger if you're not using flowmotion, deck commands or a command style. People also didn't like that the game was unbalanced (you can spam balloon commands to beat tough enemies) and stuff like that. I still like the game though, the worlds are big and fun to explore. Flowmotion is fun to use and makes traversal much better than in previous entries. I personally thought the story was fine...I mean I never expect a masterpiece of storytelling when it comes to KH. And I actually thought 3D's story was super entertaining, even if a lot of it had nothing to do with the main storyline, the individual Disney stories did enough to keep me interested. It's a fun game overall, but it has flaws like every other KH game.

  13. I really do think it is the best in the series honestly. Combat feels good and fluid, you have a ton of options, good amount of content (LOTS of mini-games), visually beautiful,  great music, superb direction for the cutscenes and a mostly satisfying story. Only thing that's really lacking is challenge and more post-game battles would be appreciated. Sure it has flaws, but all other KH games have flaws too. I feel like the other games don't compare to this one in terms of quality.

Now if we were to compare KH3 with other video games outside the KH series, my take on it might not be as positive.
