ehh actually it is a Final Fantasy game, just with a different name. You got the Crystals from Final Fantasy, you got the story like Final Fantasy, and you got the Magic from Final Fantasy. If they wanted it to be a standalone game they could of done it better, get rid of the Crystals, the Magic and Story. 
 
SO YES IT IS A FINAL FANTASY GAME  and if you say otherwise I'll hunt you down and prove it to you that it is Final Fantasy.

The point of calling it Bravely Default was to see if they could get another JRPG to sell well without the Final Fantasy name. The full name is, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy and was supposed to be a sequel to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light but instead they changed the name and then it became a "spiritual successor".
 
Despite the different name, Bravely Default is more of a Final Fantasy game than any main Final Fantasy released in the last 10 years. Under the hood it's a true old-school Final Fantasy game, name or not.
 
Just to clarify, Bravely Default is not a Final Fantasy game you are right but come on is this really thread worthy? In other news Saints Row isn't Grand Theft Auto.

Is anyone else looking forward to Noctis from FFXV hopefully becoming the companies new mascot? I honestly can't wait, because from what I have seen so far, I already prefer him as a character to Lightning.

I would say it might be the part where he egged someone's house, where he went street racing while drunk and high at 5 am, then questions in an ignorant manner why he's being arrested, smiles in his mug shot, gets out of prison the same day, says that rape happens for a reason, sings music that is pretty repetitive and lacking in any major meaning, and overall he's an annoying, unintelligent punk who doesn't seem to deserve the fame he has.

I've been playing around with the demo a little bit, and I have to say I love the way this game feels. It has all the elements of an amazing RPG. I'll need to spend a lot more time with the demo before I really decide whether or not I want to buy the game, but so far here are some of my thoughts:
 
Starting with some aesthetic interests, I like the art design, let me just start with that. The music sounds great.
 
As for the gameplay though, hoo boy I love how this is shaping up. It very much has a feel of a classic Final Fantasy game, and that is amazing. Four heroes in a row, taking turns to fight the row of monsters in front of them. Beautiful. Like I said, I really need to spend a lot more time with the demo, because a lot of the elements of the fight system are still new to me... still not sure how exactly I'm supposed to take full advantage of the Brave/Default commands.
 
First impressions are something I go by a lot, and with this game, all my first impressions are great.

Only 17 more days here in the USA! Oh man can't wait for my copy!
