I agree completely. I noticed pretty quickly that a lot of the complaints I've seen about KH3 were also things that people complained about with KH2 when it first came out. Honestly, if you look at the issues people are pointing out, a lot of them are issues that the previous installments had too.
And this isn't me saying, "yeah, well Kingdom hearts 2 sucked too, guys!" Kingdom Hearts 2 is a fine game. I don't think it's the best in the series (honestly I think Kingdom Hearts 3 was better), but it is solid. What caused this backlash was one simple thing: Hype. All the hype kind of crippled Kingdom Hearts 3 right out of the gate. It was just sooooo built up and people developed these ludicrously unrealistic expectations for it.
I think this problem will be remedied. What will remedy it? Simple. Time. People need time to simmer down and look at the game objectively. Again, this same thing happened with Kingdom hearts 2 when it first came out. It was not seen as a masterpiece upon release. People had major issues with it. I think the same thing will happen with Kingdom Hearts 3. Give it time. People will come around.

OK I have seen so many people in the Kingdom Hearts community compare Kingdom Hearts 3 to Kingdom Hearts 2 and it's seriously annoying. When people are comparing Kingdom Hearts 3 to Kingdom Hearts 2 they are mainly comparing the final mix version of Kingdom Hearts 2 instead of the original Kingdom Hearts 2. Like, I get it, everyone wanted Kingdom Hearts 3 to be the next KH2FM in terms of gameplay, story telling, and game content. Like, every video I go to about KH3 people are all like "Kingdom Hearts 3 was a disappointment. It's the worst game of 2019!" Or "It's sad how a PS4 game that took 5 years to be developed not surpass KH2". But everyone had these SAME exact complaints about the original Kingdom Hearts 2 when it came out saying how the KH2 is too easy compared to Kingdom Hearts 1 because of reaction commands, drive forms, limits, ect. And also the fact that you had to do a finisher just to beat a boss.  Now ever since KH3 came out everyone pretty much forgot vanilla KH2 exists and how everyone complained about the things I've mentioned. And another thing, people are complaining about how KH3's optional boss is super easy and that Sephiroth in KH2 was "much harder" when, if I recall correctly, everyone said the exact same thing about KH2 Sephiroth. Yeah, remember how everyone kept comparing KH2 Sephiroth to KH1 Sephiroth? Yup this is that exact same situation all over again. Also, I feel like everyone in the Kingdom Hearts community got so spoiled with Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix ever since it became available via Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix on PS3/PS4. Like, everyone just now expects every KH game in the future to be EXACTLY like KH2FM in terms of gameplay mechanics and whatnot. As well as post game content. Like, don't get me wrong, I don't blame fans for wanting that kind of stuff for Kingdom Hearts 3 since it has been really anticipated for a long time in the KH community. But, because of everyone's high expectations, KH3 is being considered "bad" or "the worst game of 2019" just because it didn't surpass KH2FM with all of it's crazy content. Heck people are pretty much begging KH3's DLC to include some form of "Data Organization XIII battles" of the Organization members you fight towards the end of the game. That's how big of an impact KH2FM has had on the KH community ever since it became available worldwide. Like, I'll admit that I, myself" had these expectations as well. Yeah I'm not gonna lie. But was I disappointed in KH3 because it simply isn't KH2FM or at least didn't live up to that game? Well, not really? I mean yeah I'll agree that the pacing in the game is awful and the story telling with saving all the other KH protagonists could have been done better but still. I still enjoyed the game for what it was instead of just whining about it not being up to par with KH2FM. Like I did with Final Fantasy XV when that came out. Yes, I was disappointed in its story and pacing but it's not an terrible. Ohoho no. It's certainly not a Sonic 06. Just like with KH3. It's an alright game I will admit (although that may change depending on what's to come with the upcoming DLC) but it's no Sonic 06 like everybody's making it out to be.

All I'm saying is...well...it's just kind of annoying that KH3 gets compared to KH2 (mainly the final mix version) in the most unfair way. Like, KH2FM has pretty much blinded most people in the fanbase with their judgement toward KH3. Because if KH2FM never became a thing I bet you that KH3 wouldn't get this much hate and now get compared to it. So yeah, just my two cents. What are your thoughts on these negative criticisms towards KH3?

I enjoyed KH3. And while I did have my issues with the game, the positives outweigh the negatives. Honestly DLC's can fix all the problems I had with the game. The difficulty wasn't one of my issues either. I play KH games all the time so it's only natural I'd be good at KH3. This is a game I'm certainly going to replay again and it gave me wonderful moments of tearful emotions. Overall this game has strengthened my love for the series.

It was like this for kh2. It's too easy, too much x smashing, too many cutscenes.
And now, people remember it as the best one. Probably because of the final mix updates.
Since kh3 is most likely gonna receive a final mix dlc, the future of the game is very bright for me.

Now remember what kingdom hearts is and why it has so many fans:
Kingdom Hearts is a serie that tries ideas that should have never worked. Sometimes it succeeds, sometimes it fails. No KH game is perfect but each game is made with passion and that's why no matter what I'll always like those games. It doesn't mean that I won't criticize it, but if it gets criticised, it is because the serie is loved and we want it to constantly improve.

    ^This.
Bottom line, it is way easier to rant about how bad something is than to rant about how amazing something is. As a result, the people who hate Kingdom Hearts 3 because it's not what they wanted it to be are being way louder than the people who are being positive and discussing the things that make the game good.
If you go through the forums here, I'm sure you will find a bunch of positive reviews of Kingdom Hearts 3. I loved it and was thrilled to be able to share my thoughts on here. I think the game is great, and there are plenty of people on here who also think that it's great. So don't feel bad. Never feel bad for liking something, even if people all around you are saying the opposite. This will pass. Once people simmer down and really start to think about the game's events, they will warm up to Kingdom Hearts 3, just like they did with Kingdom Hearts 2.
Hang in there. We're all behind you.

While I do understand how you feel, I believe you shouldn't feel that way for multiple reasons. But first, it should be heavily stated that those who hated the game have just bigger mounths than those who didn't: they're in every post wanting to list off their disappointments with the game. Although it isn't entirely healthy when they're being rude (calling the game trash, etc), sometimes it is good since criticism help developers in making good games that pleases the community (but it is harmful if they insult the creators; I totally see no point on doing it).
With that being said, when I first played it I really loved it and still do. I got easily frustated with the amount of people criticizing the game and I felt hate for those mindless people telling others to not buy this game. But soon I became able to accept it and I still love this game. Why? Because I was able to understand them and understand the flaws that the game had (and all games does have flaws). The gameplay is easy, the story isn't enjoyable to some people (but to me it was, and it was epic!), some wanted the main plot to advance mid-game and so they call it rushed and the game had little post-game content (kinda reminds me of KH2 vanilla). However, the difference is that no fact can change the enjoyment I had. I didn't notice those flaws at all and I truly enjoyed the game. That was the same case as yours. But I don't know how your love got evolved to hate...perhaps that "hate" you feel is frustation for the game not having good feedback?
While I brought good points about the criticism, not all of them are good. Many people out there just list out ALL their wishes that didn't get into KH3. This isn't criticism at all. Good criticism should be looking to the game, analyse its flaws and check out what it needed only. Besides them, there's others who completely put aside the good points and complains about the negative points. I see no reason for it. The game is enjoyable to some extent, the graphics improved and I am yet to see one individual who disliked the soundtrack. Which is why that people shouldn't just focus on their disappointments.
And around social networks, a really lot amount of people are doing mindless criticism. Instead of perhaps giving ideas for them to correct the flaws and whatnot, they're just filling the thread with negativity. This is why we shouldn't be influenced by it. You shouldn't too. Those people will see flaws almost everywhere, even if SE actually makes a patch which corrects 80% of the disappointments. People will keep complaining about the 20%. They're never satisfied at all.
If you want an advice, I can give you. SE will most certainly release a DLC which *can* fix some points. The difficulty, the lack of certain characters, end-game content, expand the areas of certain worlds...I am confident that there's a good possibility it will be handled on. So, keep neutral (neither negative nor positive since it can lead into disappointment) and wait until we have a word on something. If we don't get DLC, we just gotta wait for the next game so the only predominant feeling should be of excitment

LOL! It's funny that a game based on friendships, pure hearts, and light has generated so much hatred and darkness. Maybe this was Xehanort's plan all along XD
In all seriousness I've said in another post that I have my share of problems with KH3. This was not a masterpiece, but I also really loved some of the things they did in the game too. I think the reason I'm not raging or ranting is because most of my issues can be fixed with either a Final Mix or some patches showing additional cutscenes. Perhaps the days of KH explaining some of it's lore in report notes are over and they should verbally explain from now on. That would fix one of the complaints I've heard some are confused about.
Again I have some issues with the game myself and somethings I wished were handled better. But this certainly doesn't taint my love for Kingdom Hearts. I'm already dreaming of KH4. I'm in this for the long run!

I love the game and that's enough for me. It's a shame not everyone is on the same boat as I am but that is just how it is. The game had flaws, but every single KH game has flaws, people really need to stop acting like KH2 is perfect, because it isn't. Every single game has flaws to a certain extend.
A lot of people also just get very easily offended these days if someone has a different opinion. Sure there are also trolls and people who hate just for the sake of hating it. But you have those kind of people everywhere.

If I was in charge of KH3 I would've done some things different, sure. But this is what we got and we can't change that.

First off, I want to say that I found Kingdom Hearts 3 to be a 8/10 game. Which, in my estimation, means 80% positives and 20% negatives.
I’ve seen a lot of back and forth about positivity and negativity about the game, particularly on Twitter. A lot of people who really liked the game are frustrated with those who are criticising it. I understand, if you love something, it hurts to see other people talk bad about it. And true, a lot of these criticisms are more like “hate” (like a recent 3/10 Twitter post) to get attention or to troll.
That said, as someone who has shared criticism on the game, it can be hard seeing people shoot down genuine, constructive complaints as “hate”. As if a bit of negativity is bad. The reason I find myself focusing on the negatives, the “20%”, is because they stand out in a game with mostly positive aspects. Not because I hate it.
Discussing criticisms with others, explaining your point of view and opening your mind to other people’s opinions. These are things I find far more interesting than an echo chamber of positivity where everyone is saying “I love this! Me too!” Of course, some people prefer that, and nothing against them. It’s just my viewpoint, my stance. Indeed, some of my opinions are different now that I’ve heard the other side of the argument.
That leads to the crux of the matter, really. Everything is an opinion. I always try to start my arguments with “I think” or “To me,”. Stating something as fact like “The game is trash” is not a good way to go about it. But neither is “No, this was fine. You are nitpicking/your expectations were too high”. I focus on the negatives because I believe that is what will improve the game. Others might not agree, but that is fine because I have no intention of ruining someone else’s experience. If someone says they enjoyed something, I won’t reply saying “Nah, it was bad”. But I might make my own post about it.
The balance is achieved by not ruining other people’s hype with negativity, but also not shouting people down because they aren't being “positive enough”.
At least, in my opinion. ?

Aile reacted to Dagesh Lene in Rewriting the Story of Kingdom Hearts III [SPOILERS]
Don't get me wrong.  I think that Kingdom Hearts III is an amazing game.  However, I also think that the story is messy.  It is poorly paced and includes plot elements that are either not properly explained or don't matter to the story at all and only serve to set up for the future of the series (or maybe both).  And so, using the power of hindsight, I have decided to rewrite the story of Kingdom Hearts III, while keeping as many story elements that it introduced as possible, into a story that I think has better pacing, explains things a bit better, and doesn't hint toward the future as heavily in order to spend more time on wrapping up the story of the Dark Seeker Saga.
Keep in mind, I don't think that I could necessarily write a better story than they did.  If I was tasked with writing the story for Kingdom Hearts III from scratch, it might end up being worse than the one we got (not that the one we got was bad; it was just messy).  I'm just using the ideas they came up with to tell a story that I think would flow better.  With that being said, I'm interested to hear what you guys think of my rewrite (and, just as a warning, it is a pretty lengthy rewrite).  How would you rewrite the story of Kingdom Hearts III?  Do you think the story is fine the way it is?

Aile reacted to Allwil13 in Constant retconning is not good story telling (Spoilerific)
I agree that the story is sloppy at times, and the retconning of certain events and elements can be annoying, but I never let it bother me too much. For me, it's been clear since Kingdom Hearts 2 that we were never meant to take the series too seriously. After all, it's Disney characters interacting with Final Fantasy characters; it's pretty hard to take that seriously. I've always gotten the impression that Nomura and the series' writers are more focused on giving us a great experience with a story that's a fun ride, and for me they've succeeded in every entry (some much more than others).
Now, this being said, the series does have its issues (such as certain sections of the storytelling as previously mentioned) and the gameplay in certain entries has been lacking. However, the series is still solid and a classic, at least in my mind.
But hey, I'm an optimist. I've always preferred to focus on the positive rather than the negative. And I'm also super biased because I've been with this series literally since its birth.

Saying it is worse than coded is quite the stretch in my personal opinion...
I think that the long wait may have blinded you from a more realistic game... It pretty much nailed most aspects of what it was trying to do which is extremely impressive not only for Nomura, but the company itself.
Square seems to always fall short whenever there is a lot of pressure on them, and they did not do so with this game.
Are there some disappointments? Of course. But saying it is worse than coded is like trying to argue that The Revenge of the Sith is worse than the Holiday Special...

    Respectfully, Wasabii

Not to add fuel to this fire, but isn't the gist of KH to be about Disney?
Not an ad, exactly, but one of the main draws was always Disney worlds, characters, and events, or looking at film plots in different ways.
I also 100% disagree on the worlds looking like empty stages, because the amount of NPC's in Twilight Town and Olympus were staggering, and the lack of them in other places made sense, as it was the middle of woods, or way out of the norm places no one would be, anyway.
Also, the lack of Final Fantasy people is understandable here, as most of them have had their stories conclude, and adding new one's like Lightning or Noctis would be jarring, and take away from the story. In that vein, how many times can we rehash Cloud/Seph, anyway?

Worse than Coded? Your opinion seems extremely strange, I've got to tell you.
If only you talked both about the GOOD and BAD things, it'll be okay. But...seriously, even most of your "points" are sooo unreasonable. You're even complaining about voice actors. Are you some kind of troll? How can a voice actor make you dislike a game, wtf
