Yes, I think you're right!  Suffer through it for the keyblades.  Looking into this further, I think the keyblades will be worth it for the more challenging events.  On the bright side, should be a breeze getting through these early proud mode quests. Not a challenge at all when using newer medals!

Yes, only time will tell the true meaning behind this worldlines nonsense.
I would love to see any of those side games honestly.  The future seems bright with KH.  And wide open!  Excited to see where it goes.

David Buchwald reacted to LunaCatte in Young Xehanort early years question
My theory is that, while we see an older Xehanort than what he should be, it was likely we were seeing an older version of him that went back to the islands after the fact. We know that Xehanort is well versed in time magic, so at this point he might have just had more of a vision, or feeling, than anything else happening and when he partook in the Mark of Mastery exam he might have found his way back to Destiny Islands which is when his future Heartless traveled back in time and met up with him and told him of his "destiny". It can be assumed the Young Xehanort and the Scala ad Caelum Xehanort are only a couple years apart in age, at most (look at how fast Riku grew in only a year). So the younger version we see playing chess could very well have been the one that left the island, only for him to return a couple years down the line as a detour on his pilgrimage and seeing just how "small" his world was compared to others he had seen. Knowing that he would be back to that place, and Destiny Islands being a significant world despite its size, Ansem could have easily decided to wait there for him knowing he was better versed in the way of the Keyblade and more prepared to handle his destiny than he was when he was younger.
Again, this is just a theory, but that's the best explanation I have for it.

    Hello KH Experts!
I'm confused with Xehanort's early days and hoping to get some answers. This has a lot to do with the fact that he looks younger in the chess scenes than the Young Xehanort we know from his Destiny Islands days, before his time traveling adventures, and before ever going off to train as a keyblade master (or so we thought). I've done some research and see a lot of folks have this same question, and unfortunately haven't really found a straight answer. However, I haven't seen anyone talk about the connection to Secret Report 2 from KH3, and I'd like to touch upon that. As stated in that report, written by Xehanort:
So according to this, Xehanort was only at Scala ad Caelum for a few years before preparing for his Mark of Mastery exam. I buy this. I mean Sora only wielded a keyblade for a few years as well before attempting the exam. But the Report leaves me confused. Why does he state he left Destiny Islands with "guidance from the future"? I was under the impression he forgot all about his time traveling upon returning to his time? Does anyone have an answer for this?
Still, this report does not answer the question of why the chess playing Xehanort looks younger than that version, and why the eye color is different. He always had yellow eyes in the scenes we have seen of him at Destiny Islands. This report only seems to confirm that yes indeed he was on Destiny Islands BEFORE Scala ad Caelum, and before becoming a keyblade wielder and attempting to become a master.
I'd love to hear the thoughts of the experts here. Not expecting to get a clear answer, but hoping to get a better understanding, especially when taking Secret Report 2 as cannon (I've seen others theorize that chess playing came before Destiny Islands, but I think this report makes it clear that's not the case).
Others have theorized we would get a clear answer in an interview or perhaps in a future game. But it's been made clear that this game is the end of the Xehanort saga, so I do believe they will stay away from focusing on Xehanort in any future titles.
    Thanks for the help!

As of the Square Enix Presents showcase on June 14th, there has been no reveals on more information regarding the Limited Edition PS4 Pro. Questions were directly asked about it on the feed during the live showcase, and the presenters on the show mentioned that those questions were taboo currently and could not be answered at the moment.

I created a post on the KH Reddit and thought I'd repost it here if anyone was still confused about all the options they have to purchase the game. I think it's at a stage where I've covered everything we know, but feel free to reply on any mistakes or new details I haven't caught on yet, and I'll change this first post.

David Buchwald got a reaction from DanartG in 2.8 Frame Rate / Lag / Stuttering
    Hey all,

I have just completed my run of all KH games on the PS4 (1.5+2.5, and 2.8). I had a big issue with 0.2 and Back Cover, which involves Frame Rate / Lag / Stuttering, whatever you want to call it. Sorry, I'm not a technical person so I do apologize if my use of terms is incorrect. What I experienced during 0.2 was jumpy camera movements, and slow down of frame rates during certain moments, for example when switching to Spellweaver Style Change. Another example would be if I would leave Aqua standing in one place, and rotate the camera around her with the Right Analog Stick, I would see jumpiness in the camera, it would never be fluid. Unable to complete a full rotation without some sort of jumpiness. Even just running, the camera would jump after a period of following behind Aqua during running. In terms of cut scenes, I would notice some serious dips in fluidity -- whatever you want to call it, frame rate drops or stuttering, it just looked awful. And as other people mentioned, incredibly jumpy even during the end credits scroll. While not as bad during watching Back Cover, it was certainly noticeable there as well. ... I do want to mention that I had absolutely no problems whatsoever during DDDHD. I also had no problems whatsoever on 1.5+2.5.  I also want to mention that I've played other games such as Star Wars Battlefront 2 , Destiny, COD, Etc. that use modern graphics, and have never experienced anything like this.  This leads me to believe this is an issue with just 0.2 and Back Cover, and not necessarily an issue with my PS4.

As far as tech specs: I am using a regular 500 GB PS4 (not a Pro or a Slim) and I bought it new a little over 2 years ago. I keep it in good condition and in a well ventilated area. My copy of the game is a disc copy. If there were any patches or anything I assume those have all been installed, because my PS4 always installs those automatically for games when they come out.

I am posting here because this forum has helped me out in the past when I posted here. Even though I've finished the game, it left me bothered and if I could ever fix the issue I may even replay it. More importantly, I'm concerned about KH3. I would not be able to enjoy KH3 if the gameplay and cutscenes are this bad....

I have done extensive research online, and while I see posts about this same issue, I have yet to find any real solutions. The one solution I have heard is to move the game to an external hard drive. I have yet to try this because I don't have an external hard drive that is compatible with the PS4. I am wondering if there are any other solutions? Is this just how the game is? Do these issues exist on the PS4 Pro, and if they don't, do I need a PS4 Pro to enjoy KH3 when it comes out?

Yeah, my biggest concerns right now are the fact that Sora takes damage during the finisher animations of summons and the fact that almost everything activates with situation commands, which may take too much freedom away from the player. The first problem can easily be fixed, but for the second one... We'll have to wait and see. On the other hand I love the keyblade switch during battle. Like, a lot. I heard that you can also change it while you're in a form. I love it.
Ps4 or Ps4pro? Because I played 0.2 on a standard ps4 and I don't remember that many frame drops. But I know that the framerate, despite being higher, is also quite unstable on the pro. I'd say that sadly we shouldn't expect rock solid 60 fps for the pro.(maybe for the One X? Who knows)

What about the biggest problem of them all? The frame rate drops / frame pacing issues we first noticed in 0.2 BBS.... those issues quite nearly ruined that game for me. So much awful stuttering. And I'm sorry to say it seems those issues are still present in Titan Battle. I hope to hear from those who actually played the game about it, but from what I could see from the videos that were posted, the issues are not fixed. And this has me extremely worried.

Well that's good to hear. Glad to hear that SE is open to any criticism towards the KH3 demo so they can fix it for the full version of the game.
Yeah I know what you mean. But with how SE is listening to fan feedback on the KH3 demo hopefully that issue will be resolved by the time to full game releases.

David Buchwald reacted to FlipMode in 2.8 Frame Rate / Lag / Stuttering
Because it is rendering five frames, they just get duplicated each time. This way you get a smooth transition between them. So when that duplicate frame is missing, the next frame appears faster than the one before it did and the game seems to lag as a result of the sequence being broken.
If you listen to one song four times, you've listened to one song not four songs, right? Same thing You're seeing the same frames twice but of course this all happens in a fraction of a second, the result is a smooth transition, the hardware had enough time to render and display the next frame. When the frame isn't duplicated, the next one appears too quickly, the picture appears to suddenly jolt forward.

Another way of looking at it is that if Aqua and Terra are both walking, taking one step a second for ten seconds, every step Aqua takes takes her 1 second to complete, every other step Terra takes only takes him 0.5 seconds to complete but they both still only take a step every second. The result would be they walk the same distance and the same amount of steps, the only thing is that Terra's animation would appear janky and laggy as you see his leg suddenly jolt forward faster than the previous one.

And yes as far as I know BBS 0.2's cutscenes are all running in the game engine so you'll experience it in both. Except for the into cinematic which is of course pre rendered and the console is just playing it back

As far as PS4 Pro goes, that's really up to you. on vanilla PS4 you have frame pacing bug but it does run a steady 30 FPS for the most part. On Pro you still get slowdown because the game runs at 60 FPS unlocked, so the frame rate is usually closer to 45-50 than it is 60 and that sometimes can cause noticeable stutter too.
But I do think these issues will be fixed for KH3

There's no denying the PS4 Pro will play the game better but that might just be 4K resolution. We really won't know until the game is out.
I say stick to your normal PS4, try KH3 when it comes out, if it runs like ass then either get  Pro or wait for the PC port.
But I can't see Sony letting KH3 release with performance issues. There's a lot riding on this game for them too, a lot of people got a PS4 for this.

glad I'm not the only person who has noticed this. It does bother me that games like Zero Dawn Horizon can run on a normal ps4 99% of the time perfectly, while 0.2. the game has an inconsistent framerate. Maybe this is a problem with SE games made on the ps4 because I've experienced this with Final Fantasy 15 as well. Based on the kingdom hearts 3 trailers we've seen so far, it doesn't look like it has the problem, but we really won't know until we see actual gameplay that's not from a trailer.

Yeah 0.2 didn't run perfectly on my normal ps4  But when I'll get KH3 I hope they will release a pro bundle.
The same like Monster Hunter and God of War.
