69ComplexNumba-420i^2 reacted to Exilra in Story synopsis of X/Unchained X?
    1. Yes they are the same story, but there are differences. For one, in the Japanese version of Unchained X, they just completed the world Castle of Dreams which wasn't in X. The way I kinda like to think of it is that Unchained X is like an extended version of X. (The way Nomura actually put it is that X is season 1, and once Unchained X catches up to X's story, it'll then become season 2).

    2. Yes.

    3. Don't know, but kind of a simple way of putting it is it's the story of how the Keyblade War happened. We do have playthroughs of X and Unchained X provided by Everglow, but if you're not interested in watching his English-translated playthroughs then that's ok.

Hopefully I answered your questions well! And welcome to the site!

69ComplexNumba-420i^2 got a reaction from Exilra in Story synopsis of X/Unchained X?
Hello everyone, I'm new here, but have been a fan of kingdom hearts for over a decade since 1 & 2. I recently decided to make an account after getting 2.8 recently and playing Dream Drop Distance for the first time, the only title in the series ive never played before (because SE decided to put a new Kingdom Hearts on yet ANOTHER bloody multi-hundred dollar handheld console just after BBS came out on PSP sigh why), and after being thoroughly confused by the story of that very weird game (I still don't get how Sora and Riku went back in time to Destiny Islands to get into the sleeping worlds in the first...?) and going through 0.2 and back cover I think I'm up to date on the series for KH3.

Anyway, my question is about the story of X/X unchained. I initially heard that X was like your usual microtransaction cash phone game with a setting in the distant past that happened to be non canon, kind of like how Elder Scrolls Online is like an ultra prequel to the Elder Scrolls series, but isn't technically canon. But then I found out that X actually WAS canon and that it's story was probably going to ripple into KH3. I saw pictures of this kid with white hair and a red bandanna neck thingo, and people with animal masks, and there's a guy wearing an Org 13 cloak who has Xehanort's keyblade, dafuq?

So I looked into it and found out that there were actually TWO games called X. The first, "X", is apparently complete and was a browser game, and "X unchained" is.... the mobile phone version? And some people on the web were saying it continues the story while other people were saying that it was a reboot of X, which confused me even more. Then I heard that Back Cover is supposedly a cinematic version of what happens in the game, but after getting 2.8 and watching it, apparently the stuff it covered didn't even scratch the surface of the story of the mobile game. The white haired red sash kid that appeared for about 30 seconds in BC at the fountain with Ava is apparently a major character, and so is this person called Skuld, who doesn't even appear in the cutscenes at all!

A lot of the story is also locked behind grinds in the mobile game to get people to shell money, and the cutscenes on Youtube seem to be wedged between a lot of very boring mobile phone gameplay which I would really prefer not to spend a huge amount of time sifting through (much less grinding through the mobile game itself).

I guess the three things I'm trying to ask are:

    1. Are X and Unchained X the same story, or does Unchained X continue it in someway ala a sequel?

    2. Is the story of Unchained X still ongoing?

    3. Is there anywhere I can go to get a full plot synopsis for X and Unchained X that doesn't involve watching through the cutscenes and gameplay or playing the game itself?

Personally I think it's really kind of lame that they would put so much plot relevant stuff that apparently ties into KH3 into a microtransaction phone game.

    Thankyou for your time!
