selfKaiHarness reacted to Raxaimus in Critical Mode is on its way to Kingdom Hearts III
In a brief statement to Game Informer during the 2019 Game Developers Conference, Kingdom Hearts series co-director Tai Yasue confirmed that the highly-anticipated Critical Mode would be coming to Kingdom Hearts III very soon. Curiously absent from Kingdom Hearts III at launch, the Critical Mode difficulty setting has been a staple for the series ever since its introduction in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, with its only other absences being Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and the original version of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.
Yasue stated that Critical Mode in Kingdom Hearts III would be more than just a value change, referring to the HP, MP, and damage output of Sora, his allies, and the game's various enemies. He also said that Critical Mode is "more technical and offensive," and will be geared toward those who are "good at action games" and "timing their attacks". He concluded this brief discussion by stating that the skill required will change the way that players will play the game.
What do you hope to see in this more extensively-adjusted Critical Mode? Will you be giving it a shot once it finally gets added to Kingdom Hearts III? Let us know in the comments below!

There's a saying I always keep in mind for things like this. Don't let the inmates run the asylum. It's impossible to please everyone, and selecting a few fan things while ignoring others will just cause more of the same thing to happen. I for example have my issues with KH3 but the lack of FF characters was not one of them.

selfKaiHarness reacted to xXMikey1stXx in Please be considerate of the new generation of kingdom hearts fans.
Well it is what the title says. How will the community handle with the second generation? The reason this is most important in gaming history is one thing. We are getting older, and the new generation of fans is coming in. Remember kingdom hearts is a niche. Disney and square enix games, jrpg with disney characters, and a complex story (if the next saga is complex of course). So the possibility of ruining it for the younger/new generation is high do to nostalgia. We have to keep that in mind. As much as we want a carbon copy kingdom hearts 2, and drive forms returning, we have to be considerate to the new fans. Plus as with every generation or decade (like 90's ff fans), things change depending on the climate. What could horrible today in storytelling could ok with for the new generation.  Just remember as with every generation of games (pokemon is a huge example of this) just remember not to ruin the experience for younger fans. Please tell me your thoughts about this. Thank you.

And the best part is,the game, unlike previous entries since BBS,actually acknowledge how ridiculous everything is more than once so the self-awareness actually made me enjoy the plot.....something I haven't felt for the series in a long time

And man the charm filling each world is unreal and the dialogue and interactions are much better written than a lot of the drivel BBS and DDD was filled

It felt like the pure Disney X Square crossover that filled me with joy back in 2006 when I got into the series and for that I'll praise KH3 tremendously

Dude the fact that the game lets u take selfies anywhere u want puts a smile on my face...........I HAD TO TAKE A SELFIE IN MONSTER INC AND I BLOCKED MIKE'S FACE ^_^.......its a small thing sure but it adds up with how much charm this game is filled to the brim with

Its a good game. I just don't really have much more to say about it than that. Because the series hasn't really changed much since it started. Graphics and gameplay have improved over the series but the entire concept and premise has always been the same. This isn't the third game in the series, its the... twelfth game I think? That is a heckin' lot of games for an RPG series that is only about 17 years old. The whole thing about travelling to Disney worlds and fighting heartless or variations of, well its just been done so many times now, I am kinda over it really.
Its a good RPG, it looks fantastic and its a blast to play but I mean... You know what this game is? Its sushi is what it is. Because the first time I tried it, I loved it, it was unlike anything I had ever eaten before. But if I eat it too often I do get a bit bored of eating it and crave something different. I've done this Kingdom Hearts jam so many times now, go to a Disney world, fight some heartless, guy in black hood appears and talks about hearts, Sora sasses him, hoodie guy summons a boss, beat boss and get a cutscene with more characters talking about hearts, repeat about eight times, beat the final boss, cry over the ending and then your done.
The series has improved but I don't feel like its ever really evolved past KH1.
Its a good game for sure, but so are all the other KH games. And this one I don't think has given us as much to talk about, since it really just wraps up the plot points and then sets up the next chapter. There's not much to speculate about since we have almost no idea where the series is headed next.
I will replay it at some point but I could just play any of the other KH games and have pretty much the same experience I feel. Good game. sushi/10 would play again.

Truer words were never spoken. Hype can be extremely dangeorus for any form of media, especially when the wait is super long like with Kingdom Hearts 3. The more time passes, the more people develop theories, opinions, ideas, attachments, you name it. This also leads to a drop in logical thinking when excitement starts to dominate people's thought processes (this usually happens after the title in question is announced to be in development). I've said this several times, and I'll say it again. At a certain point, a highly anticipated title enters a stage wherein the hype is just so high that no title can ever hope to live up to it. As a result, when people finally get their hands on it and their countless theories and ideas are disproved, the disappointment is so much worse than it should be.
I would also like to point out that other games in the series had a response similar to this one upon release. I'm pretty sure KH2's fan reception wasn't super high at first, but once people started thinking about the game's events and characters and how it all came together, the game gained a strong reception. People need time to come down from the high of anticipating the game, as well as some more time to recover from the disappointment. This results in the return of logical and realistic thinking.
I imagine that fan opinions of KH3 will improve in the next few months, once people have time to process the game's events. I certainly don't think it will retain the intense hatred some fans are giving it.

Was it exactly what I was expecting?  No.  Did it live up to my expectations?  Yeah, I’d say it did.  Overall, I’d say it was pretty good.  I think what happens when you wait for a game for this long is that people get ideas into their heads about what should happen and are disappointed when that’s not the case.

Personally, I loved it. I have my own reasons for loving it and I will continue to do so. But I know that doesn't mean everyone does and I know everyone has their reasons why they do and do not.
I will never say it has no flaws, no game does. No game ever will. You will never be able to be 100% perfect in every aspect. There are lots of things that KH3 does REALLY good. There are lots of things that are so-so. There are things that are meh. And there are things that are OH GOD WHY. As it should be.
Reacting to their own expectations is entirely valid regardless of there being such a long wait and a lot of build up for it. Everyone has their own views of what the series is and should be. That's the way humans are. That doesn't mean others should view it a different way. If you loved the game, love it. If you were simply middle ground, then live in the middle ground. If you hated it, then hate it. Games are subjective when it comes to their enjoyment, and that opinion can change over time. The game is still new, and there will be additions to it over time. Even if for some reason it winds up not getting DLC, it will likely get some patches that fix gameplay in some aspects.

Did you hear the news?  Kingdom Hearts III is a masterpiece!  It is the most visually pleasing game in the series yet!  The worlds are bigger and better than ever!  The game is fun to play!  It has a good story!  Even if this is your first Kingdom Hearts games, the story is easy to follow!  It definitely lives up to the hype and is the game we've been waiting for!  Everyone who says otherwise is just a hater who is upset that what they wanted wasn't in the game!
Did you hear the other news?  Kingdom Hearts III is the worst game ever!  The characters don't look as good!  The worlds are smaller and there are less of them than in previous games!  The combat is horrible!  The story sucks!  Unless you know everything about all of the past Kingdom Hearts games, you won't know what's going on!  It is the most disappointing game ever!  Everyone who says its good is just lying to themselves and are scared to admit the truth!
These are the two reactions to Kingdom Hearts III that I seem to see the most of.  Either it is perfect and has no flaws, or it is the worst thing ever made and there is nothing redeemable about it.  Why can't it be in the middle?  Why can't it just be a fun game that has flaws?  I feel like most people are just reacting to their own expectations right now, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.  However, can't we just admit that there can be both positives and negatives and not ignore the other side (I'm not saying that all of you are acting this way; it just feels like most people are acting this way)?

I have some gripes with III but it's not the worst lol. I'd actually argue it's one of the best games in the franchise since both the combat and story are done well (or at least done decentish for combat).

Plus Dream Drop Distance still exists.

I heavily HEAVILY disagree and I'm like one of the harshest critics of the series on this site.

There is more effort put into 3 than any of the handheld KH games,it is more accessible to boot despite the plot jargin and the combat, while not as good as KH2,is still a lot of fun especially boss battles

As someone who's been accused of being a "hater" and as someone who dropped the series after DDD,I can definitely say that for me KH3 was a pleasant surprise...tho I wont deny that my low expectations helped a bit

"The story is garbage" by GamesBeat. Those reviews don't mean a thing when they're written by the opinion of one person, when there's a lot out there with different opinions. Just 'cause he thinks it's garbage doesn't mean others feel the same, so: subjective review. That's what garbage review is.
I am happy the scores were good overally. Above 80 is really good.
For me, I'll enjoy the game on my way which surely will be different from the others, but what they said in reviews don't really worry me

Go to the game, press "options" on your controller, then "check for update" or "update history" to check to see if you've downloaded it on PS4. It SHOULD auto download if you have that setting on either when you turn the PS4 on, or should when it's off, but it hasn't been doing that for me for some reason.
For Xbox players, the update just wouldn't show up if it's already been applied.

Kingdom Hearts III is finally available for preload on PS4 in North America, so if you've preordered the game digitally through Sony's store, you can install it, which I suggest considering it's over 37 GB before the day 1 patch, which is gonna be another 2 GB.

Update: The Day 1 update adding the memory archive & whatever the "data fixes" for the game is also live for both consoles.

These leaks are most likely not going to end until the 25th or 29th. After that it's free game for everyone. If you want to avoid the leaks, do things like using the extension Zeldablade mentioned until the game comes out and you've played it yourself. It works like a charm. I am one of those people that caved into watching them and I'm not going to outright specify plot points or anything like that. Yes, I still do plan on supporting SE by buying the game itself when it comes out. From what I've experienced, anyone sharing these leaks via youtube seem to be very persistent on getting the information out even after Disney takes them down and will create multiple accounts just to do it. Some and not all of them do it because they want to rile up people even more. Both those who've leaked it and those who do not want to see the leaks have been insulting and bickering at each other back and forth and people on both sides have been getting really out of hand. Giving someone a legit death threat is not okay and I don't advocate doing it. Whether or not you seek out these leaks, at least do it peacefully.

Also another way you can avoid leaks on youtube to kinda get passed the algorithm you have to pause your watch history. Therefore it can't really recommend kh stuff. It's worked for a buddy of mine and tbh I just stopped looking up kingdom hearts videos all together. The only thing I may get is that TheGamersJoint uploaded a video and thats only cause im subbed to him. The last trailer I watched was the TGS trailer and I haven't seen anything KH3 related on my recommended since. it worked for me and I hope it does for you

As Lord Revan has said, possibly stolen copies, but it's also not uncommon for games to break street date due to early shipments (even this early). For example when Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII was releasing, I got my copy almost a full week before release with standard shipping (free) selected. Human error is a thing as well.
As for the End spoilers, I was really sad to have opened my YouTube today and seen a big "THE END" Video in my recommended, and since I was on mobile my tapping the tiny little dots wound up causing the video to play. I don't think I've exited a video so fast in my life.

No, I've waited too long to not experience it for myself. But it is very tempting. I'm pretty much not even watching Youtube right now, because I don't trust myself XD
