  1. Okay so after buying Catching Fire on DVD and re reading Mockingjay I'm going to say this that this series is messed up! All the Victors that win the Hunger Games becomes messed up in there own way. Either by drinking themselves to death, using medicine to hide the pain, or have so many disorders. Not only that but they fight at such a young age, that it's not surprising that majority of them end up so messed up or have some sort of disorder. Now let's talk about Mockingjay the final book in the series. This book really shows how messed up there world really is and I honestly don't want to see the movie or re read the book because of how messed it is. What is your thoughts on the book?
  2. It always seems like I'm running out of reading material, so I'm sure some of y'all are running into the same problem that I am. So feel free to recommend all of your favorite reads!! (try to avoid recommending things that everyone has heard of like The Hunger Games or Harry Potter) I read mostly history/political science, but these are books I think anyone can get into: Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (this is literally one of the best books ever and I think everyone should try reading it) War In Peace (it's by like a laundry list of authors, but it's a big book published in 81 I think so you should be able to find it) The Violence of Peace: America's Wars in the Age of Obama by Stephen Carter America Again: Rebecoming the Greatness We Never Weren't by Stephen Colbert (it's by Colbert so you know it'll be funny) Papillon by Henri Cherriere Anything ever written by John Green The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau The Luxe series by Anna Godberson Command and Control by Eric Schlosser (he also wrote Fast Food Nation, which is fantastic too)
  3. Naruto (Part II (Vol. 28-now)). Still "follow" it via Wiki/Wikia, though. Plan on selling a complete Part II set when it's finished.
  4. I'm just gonna leave this herehttp://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/85367803.html Personally I don't care wither way, too late now. Now dance puppets, dance! Fight to the death. Mwuahahahaha! *sits in the balcony, eating popcorn*
  5. EDIT: The book has now been released! Please feel free to discuss it! Just a treat for fans of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus series. The cover for The House of Hades was released today. Here's the US cover: And here's the UK cover:
  6. ( This is my personal opinion: please don't get you whatnots in a bunch because of anything I say ) In the Catching Fire novel, heroine Katniss faces off in the terrible Quarter Quell against past Hunger Games winners: in the movie, Jennifer Lawrece plays with a bow, and wears make up. FAIL num 1. Katniss is supposedly plain, so FAIL num. 2: Peta loses a leg, and I was told he gets a slight lipm in the film, but keeps his limbs. ( I can't confirm this, os sorry if it's wrong.) Not to piss on movie goers, but I've been increasingly unhappy with movie adaptions lately: first that nightmare that is the Percy Jackson films, no this nonsense. I shudder to think about Max Ride and Rot and Ruin's screen adaptions. Ok, rant over: thank you for your time. ( I repeat: This is MY personal, none~demanding, opinion: I'm not asking you to agree or disagree, I'm simply stating my own beliefs based on what I think about the movie trailers. Any movie~lovers, carry on: I'm not here to piss on anyone's fanning. )
  7. And why you should appreciate them more Allow me to begin by telling you about 3 characters, namely Glorfindel, Gandalf, and Gimli. 1- Glorfindel. Seriously. Few people I talk to remember who Glorfindel is, despite having read the books. Let’s just say that he’s the original inventor of The Dead-person-eagle-Carry™ , Balrog Slaying™, And Arwen’s rip off of Save-the-hobbit-from-the-ring-Wraiths™ (Going by Tolkien’s notes that the Glorfindel in LotR’s is a reincarnation of the original Glorfindel). He was even supposed to be in Legolas’ place in the Fellowship of the Ring, but Tolkien ended up switching him out for a smaller role. Still, you gotta admit that he’s pretty cool. DON'T FORGET ABOUT HIS GLORIOUSNESS. 2- Gandalf / Olorin. This guy is probably my favorite character ever invented. While he did copy Glorfindel’s Balrog Slaying™, he can pretty much do whatever he wants, because he was there before time and the universe even existed. He's Olorin, the Maiar, which is pretty much the third most powerful kind of being in Tolkien’s mythos, and even better, he’s got the reputation of being the wisest of them all. The poor guy was off doing his own thing when the Valar called a council and volunteered him to lose pretty much all of his world-creating powers, take on the appearance of an old man, and go off to face down the one thing he fears most in the world. If you haven’t figured out what that is yet, then go and read the books again. Even when he dies, the Valar say "lol nope" and send him straight back. At least Círdan gave him Narya for his troubles. Gandalf deserves a magic ring of hope. (Olorin, as depicted by some random person on Tumblr) 3- Gimli. There’s a lot of really interesting stuff going on with him that people overlook, mostly involving Galadriel. You see, Galadriel has a gift that allows her to see into people and discern them for what they are. A long time ago there was this other elf guy, Fëanor, who was pretty much the greatest, most powerful and magnificent elf ever to live. He created the Silmarilli, and It’s said that he created them because he was so inspired by the beauty of Galadriel’s silver-golden hair, which captured all the glory of Laurelin and Telperion (look them up yourself). Anyway, Fëanor begs Galadriel, not once, but three times, for a single strand of her hair, and she refuses him all three times, because when she looks into him, she sees only darkness. Years later Gimli shows up, a dwarf (elves and dwarves don’t get along very well if you haven’t noticed), and when he is asked (when with the rest of the Fellowship) what gift he desires of the elves, asks humbly, not even knowing the history behind the request, for a single strand of Galadriel’s hair to admire forever. Much to the more knowledgeable crowd of elves surprise, she gives him not one, but three strands of her hair. Now tell me that doesn’t speak volumes about Gimli and who he is; the dwarf who was more worthy than the greatest elf to ever live. Just think about that for a minute. And then, to make it even better, Gimli and Legolas end up sailing together to the undying lands, BFF’s, the only dwarf ever to be accepted into Valinor. Gimli is cool. Okay. I’m done for now. Thank you for reading, if you did. Feel free to add to the list, discuss what has already been posted, or just admire the afore mentioned characters. I love discussing this kind of stuff.
  8. Are there any other Inheritance Cycle fans on here? I'm a big fan of the series, and I was wondering if there were any others on here that love it too.
  9. Hey all Can someone tell me the differences between the KC Graphic novel and regular novel? Would be greatly appreciated
  10. Alright, now the Animorphs is a book series from the mid-90s or so, about several teenagers who gain the ability to transform into just about any animal (As long as they first gain contact with said animal). I absolutely loved that series a few years back, and recently found this: http://animorphsforum.com/ebooks/ If you ever liked the series and never finished it, or are just bored one night, the link above has all the books (I believe) to be able to read online, for free. Enjoy. Also, I want to see if anyone else here likes the series too....anyone?
  11. http://www.kingdomkeepersinsider.com/welcome Sign up for this website and write fan fics for him, he'll write his final book based on the fan fics he likes most! TELL HIM TO WRITE ABOUT SORA!
  12. Hey guys, I wanted to make this topic to discuss about the book writer Nicholas Sparks! The first book that I read of his was a book called The Best Of Me. I saw it in Walmart and read the back of it and it seemed interesting enough, and so I bought it. The next few hours that I was in the mall, all I could do was read the book, and the next day I had already finished it! I was so spellbound by the book! It was really moving and touching, and I really enjoyed it, and I was amazed at how good of a writer he is. And then I did some research and noticed that some of his books have been made into movies, such as The Notebook, The Last Song, Dear John, The Lucky One, etc. And right now I'm reading one of his books called Safe Haven, which is also being adapted to a film. I am hooked on the book, but this time I'm taking my time on reading it so that I don't finish reading it so quick. Anyways, I just want to say that Nicholas Sparks is a really talented writer, and the way he makes such compelling love stories is truly amazing! Have any of you read his books? ^_^
  13. What is/are your favorite book or books? Mine would be anything in the Sword of Shannara series and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
  14. Have any of you guys out there heard of them? In my opinion, they are the best series out there. I have all of the books so far. There is a sixth one coming April 2, 2013. Just like the KH series, you must start with the first book otherwise you will not understand completely the rest of the series. Wikipedia should have a synopsis of the series.
  15. I suppose we could have all seen this book series somewhere. I saw them once at my school's book fair. And now that I like them, there's not a single library around. But the internet is marvelous! So I've gotten to learn the story online, and now I love it. Then there's the upcoming movie... See how awesome these books look. And I find all the characters intriguing... I find the entire series awesome, really. That line fits how boys can't stop looking at Ridley. Never mess with the uncle. The whole 'Darkness and Light' reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, really. Especially when John Breed says that 'there's Darkness in the Light and Light in the Darkness'. Woo! Amma! Bad mom. I am stunned by their daughter-mother relations. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=SVfKAKxGlkA How could I have possibly forgotten Lena? For some reason, I like this still picture, THE MIGHTY LOLLIPOP!!! Then, the one who started it all. Genevieve!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ She is just extremely awesome. See?! If you want to see the trailers... http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xYTptJesPuU http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=r9rjhB7KWEc So... Do any of you like this series?
  16. When I'm not gaming (or on this site) I'm quite the bookworm. I mostly love fantasies, mysteries, mild romance, and the occasional sci-fi. I began thinking that there must be SOME author that was inspired by either Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy and wrote something similar, but I'm not quite sure where to begin looking. Has anyone read anything remotely similar to the aforementioned series? More specifically, anything with characters or plots similar to any of the Kingdom Hearts games, Final Fantasy VI, or VII?
  17. -deserted site- Series Title: The 39 Clues Author: Many Authors Books so far: At least around 15, including all the card packs and stuff Genre: Adventure (?), Mystery, Action Anyways, I figured I'd make this thread to find someone who's heard of this series called, 'The 39 Clues'. The first saga was good imo. The second one just lacked something, and kinda became a bit predictable. My favorite author in the whole series is Linda Sue Park owo Oh they also have a movie releasing in 2014, or so I've heard.
  18. Well, I find it good. I guess it comes under fantasy/fiction and it's written by Emily Rodda. The story over all, I haven't actually completed reading it but I really like it At the start, it does take time to actually begin the story but it's worth it imo. I think there's an anime/manga for this too... not so sure. here's a picture :
