  1. San Diego Comic Con 2012 is a gaming event that will be running from July 12 to July 15, 2012. It is unknown if Kingdom Hearts games will see coverage during the event, but we have just learned that Square Enix will be showing new Kingdom Hearts Play Arts (Kingdom Hearts figurines) on display. This announcement comes from hidemi_mad_dog, the person responsible for working on the Play Arts. Update: Details regarding the new Kingdom Hearts Play Arts at Comic Con have been revealed. The set will contain Mickey, Goofy, Sora and Donald, be available for a price of US$90, and be limited to only 200 pieces. A photo of the set can be seen below, thanks to Final Fantasy Merchandise.
  2. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a rhythm-style Final Fantasy title for the Nintendo 3DS. The producer of the title, Ichiro Hazama, has participated in an interview with Siliconera where they mention an interest in making a Kingdom Hearts title of the same genre, and also explain how Theatrhythm Final Fantasy's art style draws inspiration from Kingdom Hearts Mobile. You can read these parts of the interview below. --Did you always settle on the Kingdom Hearts Mobile art style or did you test other designs for the Final Fantasy characters before choosing the cutesy art style? From the beginning, we were discussing how to present characters from the entire Final Fantasy franchise. When we saw the designs of the Final Fantasy guest characters in Kingdom Hearts Mobile we thought this is going to work. --Do you view Theatrhythm as a series now? What series would you want to work with… Manarhythm? Theatrhythm… Hitman? [Laughs.] Personally, I hope this will be come a series, but Theatrhythm Hitman will probably be really far off. There are many series that I would want to work on for Theatrhythm. Dragon Quest has a lot of music and Kingdom Hearts would be wonderful to do if it’s possible. I’m not to familiar with the Eidos collection, but Tomb Raider has a long history so it must have a great collection of songs. That might be fun.

  5. Update: Square Enix have again Tweeted about the Keyblade keychains announced in January. While these Keychains were announced on January 20, 2012, and originally set for a March 31, 2012 release date, Square Enix have changed their mind and started selling the keychains today. Thanks to KHInsider, we're aware of a few websites that are now selling the keychains internationally. You are able to purchase the keychains from Amazon.co.jp (gold and silver), HobbyLink Japan (gold and silver), or CDJapan (gold and silver). While the last two are not yet aware of the changed release date (and are still using the information from January 20), Amazon.co.jp has updated with a new release date of March 16, 2012. This title is, of course, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep -Volume Two-. Since the Kingdom Hearts series begun in 2002, starting with a PlayStation 2 game made by Square Enix in collaboration with Disney, the series has expanded to not only multiple platforms of video games, but also other areas such as music soundtracks, manga, novels and figurines. One area however that hasn't been explored is the idea of a Kingdom Hearts movie. So, we'd like to ask people to contribute. Would you want a Kingdom Hearts movie? Vote in the poll and leave a comment at our forum, explaining how you think it could be done. The best result will be featured, so make sure to participate.

Also, in other news, Tetsuya Nomura has been named by the Official PlayStation Magazine as #5 of the most influential PlayStation developers. (Should we cover Tetsuya Nomura news, or just stick to KH news?) Thanks to Kingdom Hearts Insider for the tip.
  16. Remember to view/download yesterday's KH3D footage in HQ. Sony held a "pre-Tokyo Game Show" event, and this event was live-streamed online. Although Kingdom Hearts did not appear, Square Enix announced a Final Fantasy X remake for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Could the same later happen for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II?
  17. The July 28 issue of Famitsu Weekly magazine, which released on July 14, has included the results to a Kingdom Hearts questionnaire that was posted on Famitsu.com. This survey is significant as Tetsuya Nomura actually read and commented on the results. andriasang.com have translated the results from Sokuho@Hokanko, and this translation can be read below. In recent survey, whose results were posted in a Square Enix feature in this week's issue, the magazine asked readers of Famitsu.com to name the platform they want to see the next KH game on. 1. Nomura's personal most memorable scenes are the endings from KH1 and KH2, and the end of Roxus' summer vacation in KH2.
  18. The next issue of Famitsu Weekly will be doing a special on Square Enix titles. During this week's issue in an interview about Final Fantasy Type-0, Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura is quoted saying: "There will be some new information on Versus XIII in the next issue, as well as a new title too." 19. As we announced earlier, the next issue of Famitsu Weekly magazine is said to contain an article concerning Kingdom Hearts. We already knew that results to a questionnaire will be featured, but now we know that the article will contain an interview with Tetsuya Nomura. Here is what has been said about the issue, which releases tomorrow. Releasing July 14, a Special Feature - Square Enix Release. A questionnaire was conducted concerning the Kingdom Hearts series. many responses were received from abroad. Also, an interview with the series creator, Tetsuya Nomura. This issue releases July 14, so we should see this interview within the next day! Stay tuned, hopefully this will break the news drought.
  20. The July 2011 issue of Nintendo Power magazine has included an interview with the composer for the Kingdom Hearts series, Yoko Shimomura. Shimomura is responsible for most of the music in the series, as the interview deals with her involvement in this. It can be read below, thanks to Ventus Air-Man from Kingdom Hearts Insider. Also, scans of the article can be seen below, in our gallery. Musician Yoko Shimomura began her career at Capcom, submitting tracks for everything from Final Fight to a racy mahjong game. Her soundtracks for the company's Street Fighter series raised her profile considerably, but her heart was elsewhere; with few opportunities to write the classically flavored music that interested her most, she joined Squaresoft in the early '90s. There she defined the sound of such RPG franchises as Front Mission, Parasite Eve, and, most famously, Kingdom hearts. But the long hours and a desire to work with a wider variety of creators led her to go freelance in 2002. Contrary to the experience of many composers who take that leap into the unknown, Shimomura's career has only flourished; she continues to compose for major Square Enix franchises such as Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, while also finding rewarding work with Nintendo's Mario and Luigi series and, most recently, Atlus's well-received DS RPG Radiant Historia. --How did you feel when you were approached to work on the Kingdom Hearts series? Shimomura: I was like, "Whaaaaaat?! I get to compose music for a Disney project?! Really?! Me?!" Yes, as you can see, I don't really have much self-confidence. [Laughs] I was struck by a great sense of insecurity by this request. But I tried my best to create the score with the image of Disney's worlds in my mind. --"Dearly Beloved" from Kingdom hearts has become quite an iconic tune. How did you come up with this particular piece of music? Shimomura: Actually, this tune was originally written for a certain event in the game, and I created it instantly, intuitively...and there were no thoughts running through my mind while I was at it. But eventually, the tune was [cut from the game]. And when I was asked to compose something for the title music (they said it could be a temporary song; just give us anything), I proposed "Dearly Beloved." The next thing you know, this tune was chosen to be the title music! Quite a reversal of fortune! (laughs) --Was it intimidating to work with Disney franchises that already had such recognizable music? Shimomura: In the beginning I struggled a lot; all I could do was grope around. But one day, suddenly everything came together, like, "Oh! I see it now!" Luckily, I had never received any 'no-good' remarks from Disney. I was very happy. Nintendo Power → July 2011
  21. Famitsu.com have posted an article that discusses an upcoming feature of Weekly Famitsu magazine. This issue, the July 28 issue which releases on July 14, is said to contain a series of articles for the 25th anniversary of Famitsu. 23. Square Enix have opened their official website for E3 2011. The website, which is linked to in the previous sentence, currently does not display any information, yet will most likely update in the coming days until E3 2011. We'll be sure to keep you updated with anything that appears! E3 2011 starts on June 7, in only 6 days. Remember, KH13.com is sending someone to E3, and we'll announce who this is in a couple of days time. Stay tuned!
  24. Concerning E3 2011, we have a tidbit of news for you which leads to some speculation about the event. Sony have announced that they will be releasing past PSP titles as games for the PlayStation 3. Titled "PSP Remaster", these games will be the best-selling titles for PSP and will be remade with HD graphics and PS3-specific features. So, what do you think; will Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep be remade for the PS3? While nothing is certain yet, it is definitely a possibility. Birth by Sleep is one of the highest selling titles for PSP, so the chances are high. We may find out more at E3 2011, which is in only 16 days! We hope you're looking forward to this event.
  25. Square Enix have registered the trademark "SE Masterpieces" in Europe. This trademark, uncovered by NeoGAF, covers video games, as well as printed media and digital distribution. While it is unknown exactly what "SE Masterpieces" refers to, there is a good possibility that it is a re-release of past Kingdom Hearts titles. Square Enix have used "Masterpieces" in the past to refer to a Kingdom Hearts re-release, specifically a packaging of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II in Japan titled Kingdom Hearts: Trinity Master Pieces. However, it remains to be seen what this new video game from Square Enix is. Hopefully we will find out more as we lead up to E3 2011, which is in only 22 days.
