  5. Just wondering what Kingdom Hearts game you guys are playing the most right now? 6. So with the release of the new screenshots and renders from famitsu, I decided to compare the renders of Mickey and Aqua to their Ps2 era models, to see how they look overall and to see a side by side comparison. Upon comparing them I have to say that my appreciation for the kingdom shader has gone up even more, due to the fact that they look like the character designs from the last generation but with major improvements of course and how the models actually look like they could've been from a Disney animated film. Anyways, seeing these new renders makes even more excited for the game's release in January.
  7. Kingdom Hearts series producer and Final Fantasy series brand manager Shinji Hashimoto was in attendance at a conference at Lucca Comics & Games 2016 in Italy last month. During this conference, Hashimoto was able to discuss and answer questions relating to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts releases. The translations below have been provided by Aquaberry. Hashimoto noted that the cinematic movie Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, present in the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collection, will fill up a missing space in the Kingdom Hearts timeline and that it will be comprehensible even to those who have not played Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ for smartphone. He commented on Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-, saying that its story will connect directly to the story that will be presented in Kingdom Hearts III. He also said that the duration of the game will partly depend upon the player's abilities. While it may seem a short game, it has a substantial amount of playable content. He also noted that there will be no "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" after Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue as "it will proceed directly to [Kingdom Hearts] 3." Hashimoto discussed Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, saying that the idea for the compilation was due to fans all around the world commenting on the complexity of the plot of the Kingdom Hearts series. The PlayStation 4 release will address this issue by enabling the fans to own the entire collection on the same console. Furthermore, he indicated that the PS4 re-release will contain some differences from the PS3 releases; it will have much better graphics. Hashimoto was also asked to comment on the legitimacy of the story surrounding the conception of Kingdom Hearts in an accidental meeting in an elevator with a Disney employee who worked in the same building. Hashimoto answered that this is a matter he has been asked about many times. He clarified that while Square were working in the same building as Disney, it was the latter that approached with a proposal for a collaboration that later became the Kingdom Hearts series. As reported previously, Hashimoto confirmed that Kingdom Hearts HD Dream Drop Distance will be fully translated in Italian and Spanish; this is a novel development as Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for Nintendo 3DS was not fully localised in these languages. The game, originally intended for two screens, will certainly be playable in one screen on the PS4. Hashimoto also reminded fans that the Sora DLC for World of Final Fantasy will be available for only a limited time only this winter. Lastly, Hashimoto reflected on his contentment towards the evolution of the Kingdom Hearts series, saying that he is happy about the success of the series reflected by fans across the world. A full video of the conference can be viewed below, thanks to GamerClick.it. What are your expectations from Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue? 12. Hi my name is TD Twilight and im working on starting up a kingdom hearts based youtube channel right now. Im gonna be doig a lot of videos on countdowns, discussions and news. But i wanted to come to the KH13 community to see if theres anything you guys are really trying to have discussed. Also, I am working on a way to make the kingdom hearts series somewhat competitive, one of the aspects i want to implement into the website that will eventually transpire is a ranking system of sorts and high scores so everyone can compare their scores across different things in different kingdom hearts games, like best minigame times, highest colliseum score and more. I just am wondering what some of your suggestions would be AND what kind of content do you want to see most? Make sure to add me as a friend and comment below so we can discuss ill try to reply to them all.
  13. Whats up guys so this poll is gonna go a little different than my last ones on account of the subject. I will put my top 5 for what I think are the best keyblades based on appearance and based on ability. I will then have the poll up with all the keyblades and you can all vote for which one is your favorite based on both appearance and ability combined. This will be used in the kingdom hearts countdown video that I will soon release on this topic, so make sure to vote. Also feel free to comment on why you chose the keyblade you did! I will also be releasing another poll based on my least favorite keyblades in the first game so stay tuned for that ^_^ TOP 5 APPEARANCE: 1: Ultima Weapon 2: Oblivion 3: Kingdom Key 4: Pumpkinhead 5: Metal Chocobo Honorable mentions: One Winged Angel, Oathkeeper, Diamond Dust TOP 5 ABILITY: 1: Ultima Weapon 2: Diamond Dust 3: One Winged Angel 4: Divine Rose 5: Lionheart Honorable Mention: Oathkeeper

  17. It seems like this is becoming normal for us now, . Thanks to our fabulous news translator, Catherine Mueller, we were the only ones to provide translations to a very 'sudden' Nomura interview with Dengeki PlayStation. With that said, our article on the 1.5/2.5/2.8 cover artwork message toward KH3 got looks from IGN, and they gave us a shout for the translations. Wonder when we'll get a wiki page of our own. Haha.
  18. Wanted to bring this up because so many people are in love with the idea of Sora and Kairi being a couple, but I honestly don't see it. At all. And it's not because "KH isn't a romantic game (which it really isn't, but that's besides the point)", but because I cannot, for the life of me, see the two together. I think this is partially due to Kairi's lack of screen time and character development; as such, we really don't see much interaction between Sora and Kairi. People kinda assume that the two would be a couple because "wow, main male character and main female character = madly in love couple", but that's not enough for me. The game never shows me explicitly why they should be good together. Sure, in KH1, Kairi saves Sora from submitting to the darkness. Unfortunately, much of that seen is bogged down by the fact that we don't know much about Kairi at all even up to that point in the game, so it's just kind of like...a random girl saves the main character. Now I'm not saying that's a bad scene or anything, but just think about how much more emotional it would've been IF the game had established a powerful relationship between the two at the beginning! If the game had shown me that they were excellent friends (and not just tell me; there's a difference) perhaps through increased interaction or character development as the story goes on, I would've cared more. So that's the inherent problem I have with this "couple." They don't actually SHOW that they're good friends, so I can't see the two ever getting together. Kairi has basically no personality, even after all these games. She's barely gotten any screen time in comparison to the other main characters, and the most we've seen her interact with Sora is at the very beginning of KH1...which is not enough. Although that being said, I can already see the arguments coming: "They show a lot of character! For example, ________" The problem with that is that all of these scenes that you list is the game TELLING me, "Hey. These two are good friends.", and not SHOWING me that they're friends. Drawing on cave rocks? Telling me, not showing me. Sora's desperation to find her? That's sweet and all, but he gets sidetracked so often and forgets about his ultimate "goal" that it doesn't even seem that realistic. Kairi sending that letter in a bottle? That's the game pretty much telling me, "HEY IDIOT. THIS GIRL CARES ABOUT SORA. YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT." How do you establish a strong friendship? You imply it through the way the characters interact, develop along with each other, and most of all, have a lot of screen time together. Especially with Kairi's little screen time and basically zero character development, I don't see them becoming a couple at all. If KH3 wants to make them a couple, they better do some serious renovations on Kairi's character, or else it will turn out fake and unrealistic. Discussion welcome PS. No, I do not ship Sora and Riku, but honestly the two are more realistic as a couple than Sora and Kairi at this point.
  19. During an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series has revealed that the cover artwork for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, 2.5 ReMIX, & HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue all connect together as a hidden message for Kingdom Hearts III. Tetsuya Nomura says that the 3 pieces of artwork start with Sora sitting, then standing, and finally walking. There is also a flow of time with the 3 pieces of artwork, where 1.5 is sunset becoming night, 2.5 is in the middle of the night, & 2.8 is night breaking into dawn. All of this connects to a hidden message for Kingdom Hearts III. You can read Nomura's answer below, thanks to Catherine Mueller (nichiei.translations@gmail.com) for the translations. While it is uncertain what this message is, this is something for fans to think about as we wait for the release of Kingdom Hearts III. What do you think this hidden message could be? 22. In the words of DJ Khaled: "Another one". Continuing with my marathon, today I'll be sharing my opinions about Days, the 1st DS game in the series. I encourage anyone that visits this to share their experiences with this game. This comes from my 1st playthrough in Proud mode. Story: I'll be honest: I spoiled the ending on myself, so I didn't have as much of a reaction to some of the events as others had. However, I liked the plot for being different from the other games and not sharing their formula of "go through the worlds in an adventure, defeat the heartless and the villain and find your missing friends". This was more about the life of a member of Organization XIII, conducting missions trying to get his heart back and overall finding his place on the world. I especially liked seeing the friendship of Roxas, Axel and Xion develop throughout the game, which made their fallout even more sad. It was interesting seeing Riku after ReCOM and how he went about doing things, but it only made me wish there was another mode or game where you play through Days from the perspective of Riku, Mickey, Naminè and DiZ. The game made me care about Roxas and gave a new opinion on Organization XIII, however the plot doesn't add much to the overall story of the series. The pacing isn't that good, the story not really picking up until Day 150 or later and the 1st half being a lot of filler. While I liked the story, it's purpose was to show Roxas' existence when he was with the Organization and fill the gaps from KH2 that COM didn't explain. That's it. Gameplay: The gameplay is decent. While not as great as KH1, it is close enough. After playing ReCOM, this game was refreshing, since I was able to just do anything I wanted without worrying about card breaks or numbers. It felt good to use attacks and spells in succesion and just do stuff similar to KH1. Of course, it is more limited, since the game is split into missions with restricted areas and magic having a limited number of uses as opposed to an MP bar, but it's not so bad later on. I found the panel system to be the AP of KH1, now used on everything instead of just abilities. I didn't customize much and simply made my deck as I went along, but after getting decent panels and releasing slots, it felt good to just breeze through everything with a powered up Roxas. The level up system could've been natural instead of using panels, but aside from that I was okay with the panel system. I didn't like how in most missions, some areas were restricted and unable to be reached, which killed the exploration aspect of the game. I wouldn't mind the mission aspect of the game if it weren't for that problem. Aside from that and the sometimes slow combat, I liked the gameplay of Days a lot. Graphics: while Days doesn't look as good as the other games, it's graphics are great for the DS. The character models look good, even if pixelated and more polygon-y and all the worlds were accurate recreations of the ones from KH1 and 2. The text scenes were bland, due to no voices, but the cutscenes that played at certain points looked as good as KH1. Sound: Most of the soundtrack is recycled from other games, but the few new tracks are as great as usual. I especially loved the new Neverland theme and Mystic Moon, while other tracks I found to be from good to meh. Overall, while it isn't as good as the other games, Days was a good experience from start to finish, and I think is as good/better as COM in certain departments while worse in others. I enjoyed it a lot. I'll also give a pseudo-review on the 1.5 cutscenes, since I watched them as I played the game. The remade scenes are beautiful and make the development of Roxas, Axel and Xion's feel more real while giving the plot more life. The voice acting is, again, great and just made them better. However, I didn't like how they remade some scenes and not all of them, probably to not make it as filler as the game, and the fact that there were no battle scenes killed it for me. The biggest crime, for me, is that it shows evidence of the planned-but-scrapped HD remake of Days, with some of the models used in the still images, which I would've loved to see. It was an okay collection of cutscenes. Now,I shall go onward with my marathon, to the true sequel...
  23. Heya. Continuing with my little marathon of the Kingdom Hearts series, I'm going to share my thoughts after completing my 1st playthrough of the game (Both Sora and Riku's stories) and some of the things I either enjoyed or disliked. Again, sorry if I sound pretentious/don't properly express my feelings and I encourage whoever decides to look at this thread to share their opinons on the game. Let's start: -Story: This, for me, is the highlight of Re:COM. I think the story was great and did a nice job of showing the characters, their personalities and struggles, had interesting premises that were used well in each story and served as a nice bridge that explains some of the things that happened in KH2. I especially liked some of the members of the Organization and Sora's character the most. Pacing could've been better since most of the early worlds only serve as interactions between Sora,Donald and Goofy (Or in Riku's case, nothing at all) and most of the exposition comes at the end, but other than that, I loved the overall story of the game. Riku was the more interesting/significant of the two, in my opinion, but Sora's had more to it. -Gameplay: The gameplay is a bit iffy. One one hand, I kinda thought the exploration was good in a different way. While the segmentation was annoying, I found the room concept cool, with the different cards making different rooms and having those rooms being recreations of the worlds and allowing for some customization. However sometimes the requirements for the cards would be hard to get, which would force me into grinding heartless just to get that one card because of the RNG. Then there's the whole "going to another floor erases all the rooms you created in this floor" thing, which I found stupid, but aside from that, I liked the exploration. Combat, on the other hand, was bad. Everything being done with cards only limited the amount of things I could do and made battles infuriating, dragged out and slow, something that went against what I loved from the 1st game. Reloading is even crappier and renders you useless for a couple of seconds, though this is not the case in Riku's story. I found Riku's combat, while not as open, more fun than Sora's. Structurally, this is KH1 with some alterations and the addition of another playable character. Finally, I liked how Sora and Riku had similar moves at their disposal but played completely different to one another. -Graphics: The graphics look the same as KH1, so they still look good. However, I loved how in the C.O cutscenes, the characters were more animated and just felt alive, especially in the expanded use of detailed faces over "default" faces. That also means I disliked how all of the "worlds" in the game were just bland cutscenes with stiff models, text and no voice-overs. Overalll, they are a mild improvement over KH1. -Sound: I freaking LOVED the soundtrack of this game. The remastered versions of old tracks sound just as good, sometimes better than their original versions and the new tracks are fitting for the parts they play in. They sound epic while giving this sense of "creepy, mysterious castle" which goes well with the setting of the game. Voice acting is still great, though the change in voices of some characters is glaring at first, but I quickly got used to them. Overall, I loved the presentation of Re:COM and found it as an improvement over KH1, but found the gameplay to not be that good. Again, it does a nice job of continuing the plot of the 1st game and serves as a decent midquel/bridge to KH2. My marathon continues with the life of Roxas...
