  7. It has just been announced by the official Kingdom Hearts Facebook and Twitter accounts that Kingdom Hearts III's Critical Mode will be released tomorrow, April 23rd, as a free update! Tetsuya Nomura's message is as follows: In the official Japanese Twitter for the game series, Nomura specifies that the update will be released on April 24th in Japan (JST). You can read the translation by Goldpanner below. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: The Square Enix website has been updated with technical information concerning two upcoming Kingdom Hearts III updates, Update 1.04 and 1.05, and has stated the time of release as 11 AM JST on April 24th (7PM PST on April 23rd), although it seems that 1.05 will be downloadable at a slightly later time. Update 1.04 will contain the Critical Mode updates and some more changes as detailed below; Update 1.05 will implement changes such as carrying over Keyblade from previous game clear data on starting a new game, and increasing the Gummiphone's photo capacity to 200. Read the details below for more information. The Critical Mode is the hardest difficulty for Kingdom Hearts games offered to only a select number of games in the series. This difficulty for Kingdom Hearts III was first announced by co-director Tai Yasue at the 2019 Game Developers Conference last month. Yasue stated that Critical Mode in Kingdom Hearts III would be more than just a value change, referring to the HP, MP, and damage output of Sora, his allies, and the game's various enemies. He also said that Critical Mode is "more technical and offensive," and will be geared toward those who are "good at action games" and at "timing their attacks". He stated that the skill required will change the way that players will play the game. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: According to the website Automaton Media's sources, Critical Mode will include halved HP and MP values, reduced Situation Command and Grand Magic frequency, and new Critical Mode-exclusive abilities. In addition, more abilities will be available at the start of the game, and players with a completed save file will be able to carry existing items and Keyblade upgrades into a new save file, in a fashion similar to a "New Game Plus" feature. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: Square Enix have confirmed that Update 1.04 will release in the West at the same time as in Japan! It will release on April 23 AT 7 PM PT/10 PM ET, and on April 24 at 2 AM UTC. The Critical Mode was recently featured in a 13 minute video on the official Square Enix Japanese YouTube channel. Check it out below. View full article

  10. The Youtube channel 13th Vessel has uploaded an interesting YouTube video named “KINGDOM HEARTS III - Exploring Scala Ad Caelum [Out of Bounds]” where they freely explore Scala Ad Caelum. In this video, they take Sora all across Scala Ad Caelum, to areas entirely hidden to the player during Kingdom Hearts III. We get to see typically unseen locations that are between and behind the buildings. This is the first instance in which we can see the full scope of Scala Ad Caelum and how much was created for this area of Kingdom Hearts III. This video is quite beautiful and insightful for any Kingdom Hearts fan. 13th Vessel is skilled in hacking, glitching and modding the Kingdom Hearts games, and has a range of interesting videos on this topic, as well as many other Kingdom Hearts related videos. You can watch the video below. There is also a glitch tutorial video regarding Scala ad Caelum. You can watch that below.

  13. Hi all. A while back I made a parody of the Sleeping Realm theory (a KH3 theory-crafting document that gathered a lot of interest in the Kingdom Hearts community). I never got round to finishing it, but with some prodding I concluded it yesterday. This is the result. DISCLAIMER This parody is not intended to criticise either the makers of the Sleeping Realm Theory, the document, or Kingdom Hearts 3 itself. The Sleeping Realm theory clearly had a lot of love and dedication put into it, and I in no way want to insult the creators for their impressive feat. I also realise this parody comes across as very negative, but rest assured not all statements in it reflect my own thoughts and feelings about KH3 or the source material. Much of this is meant to poke fun at negativity (Like the "13 years" meme), or simply about the fanbase itself - but no harm or hard feelings are intended. Another thing to note is this was developed with the KH13 Discord in mind, and as such contains quite a few in-jokes from there. Also, I don't claim to be a good parody writer, and in fact haven't done something like this before, so I won't pretend this is top quality material. This parody contains strong language, be warned. With all that in mind, here it is. The Damage Control Theory V2.pdf And the link to the original theory:
  14. You all know the three word story thread right? Well let's do it again, but this time we just need to loosely create a KH3. Doesn't have to follow the plot in detail at all, just generally. So let's start Sora arrived at

  19. Does anyone know how to actually make one or more of the recipes featured in the game? I cook and bake a little myself and these all look super tasty. Anyways, I thought this might be a nice thread to share and try out some of the recipes from the game! To start out, I found a recipe for a Tarte aux Fruit that looks pretty close to the one in the game. I'm probably going to try it out sometime next week, and post my results. Anyone else want to try? http://www.meettheshannons.net/2011/07/vegetalien-tarte-aux-fruits-frais-vegan.html?m=1 I'm not vegan myself, so I'll probably use dairy products instead of their vegan substitutes.
  20. So i'm curious on what level my gummi ship should be before attempting for that ori.+. mine is the one herc gave me and it level 21 should i be okay or should i level it up? when i did the boss battle for the keyblade graveyard i barely lost any HP
  21. I've seen a lot of people complaining about Kairi being kidnapped again and not accomplishing much in KH3. Honestly, I never expected anything else from her. In fact, I would have been suprised if she wasn't kidnapped. The only suprising part for me was that Xehanort killed her. I mean, Kairi is basically Square Enix's version of a Disney princess. She's meant to be compared to them. They're always getting kidnapped, or stumbling into danger, or otherwise having some large problem their true love has to help them with. Their prince is defined by their efforts to save them. Aladdin showed Jasmine a whole new world, and saved her from marrying Jafar. Eric saved Ariel from Ursula, and, well, showed her a whole new world. Prince Kit (Charming) searched the kingdom for Cinderella, and saved her from her wicked stepmother and ugly stepsisters. Prince Phillip literally fought a dragon and woke Aurora from an eternal sleep. Kairi's no different. She lost her heart, and entrusted it to Sora, who brought it back to her. She was always written to be Sora's princess, and that theme has been constant. Besides, her role, and what happened to her was tragically poetic, and beautifully so. The whole series, Sora's whole journey started with finding and saving her. KH1 and 2 mirror and build up to this as well. After Sora finds and saves Kairi in KH1, she in turn saves him from being a heartless. In KH2, she goes looking for him, even though she doesn't remember who he is, and by doing this, she ends up reuniting him with Riku again. In KH3, she joins the fight, she's the only one who survived the demon tide the first time, and she led Sora back to the Realm of light, and the living. Then, she was kidnapped again. Xehanort killed her to forge the X-blade, and in the end, Sora gave his life to bring her back. Now she's left alone, and it's her turn again to save him. Even Sora commented on this. This whole journey was about saving her, and it's not over until they're together again. It's not that Kairi's weak and can't stand up for herself, or that Nomura wrote her poorly. She's extremely well written. She's the light that Sora needs to protect. Saving the universe three times was a happy accident. It was never about saving the worlds, it was about saving his. She defines Sora in a way that no adventure, power, or responsibility ever could.
