  1. The latest broadcast from Square Enix Channel, the official radio show from Square Enix, has focused on both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] (pronounced "Kingdom Hearts Key"). The hosts of the show talk with Tatsuya Kando, the co-director for χ [chi], revealing new details about both of the titles. Thanks to goldpanner, you can read a translation of the details below. Be sure to check out the χ [chi] details, as they are particularly interesting. Enjoy! Tatsuya Kando - Co-director of KH Key and animation supervisor of KH 1.5 - Has been with Square Enix for 15-16 years - First game was FF7 - Has worked with Nomura for a long time HD 1.5 - It's awesome that they can make these sorts of titles now thanks to blu-ray - Everything looks super pretty in full HD on the PS3 hardware - It was a huge task to resize it to 16:9 aspect ratio - The hosts remarked on how this is the third iteration of KH Chain of Memories, from GBA to PS2 to PS3! - People who only played the GBA version of CoM are going to be absolutely stunned - The hosts were amazed to hear how long the video volume is, they joked about it approaching the level of Schindler's List in length and congratulated Kando on having basically made a HD full length film! - Kando recommends those who have already played KH1 to enjoy an even more beautiful version of the game, and those who played Final Mix to experience it in Japanese - They talk about the bonus KH Key battle support sets that come with first-run editions and e-store purchases of the game (the set will come in handy when you start KH Key, with rare Sora and Riku cards you can use right away, munny that can be exchanged at moogle shops, and card draw points that are used to restore battle energy during the adventure and will come in handy during boss raids) KH Key - When the 'key' in 'keyblade' is written as χ, it refers to the χblade, the original keyblade mentioned in previous games such as BBS - Everyone in KH Key isn't running around with χblades; their keyblades are people-made, though Kando would liken them to 'cheap versions' rather than fakes - Players in KH Key each serve as heroes with their own keyblades - As it's a little difficult to translate the world of the action-RPG series into something suitable for a PC browser game, the world of this game is more like a fairy tale than directly like the world of Kingdom Hearts that Sora and Riku appear in - They went with mouse click commands rather than the same sort of controller-based play in other games in the series because of the nature of the platform - Inside the world of the game, your goal is to collect light called 'Lux'. People have been divided into five large groups which are struggling over the light. The player is collecting light as a member of one of these, and we will see which one comes out on top - To collect light you search different Disney worlds while defeating Heartless - There is raw material scattered around that you can collect to strengthen your keyblade - As things stand right now, they aren't planning to have player-on-player battles, it's more aimed at calling people over to co-operate - There might be patches and updates with new features - The biggest thing they are working on are boss raids, where you form a team and race other teams to see who can defeat a gigantic boss first etc (the hosts note that the bonus battle support sets would be useful here!) - The game is free to play and should be simple enough for any KH fan (or Disney/FF fan who is interested in the setting) who isn't familiar with browser games to try - There are a huge number of cards to collect (one host will try his hardest to get a Tifa card!) - Keep an eye on the KH portal site for updates - They are working really hard to make something fun for everyone so please look forward to it!

  4. Today at Tokyo Game Show 2012, Square Enix have announced a new Kingdom Hearts title in development-- Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. This is a tentative title, and we do not yet have any more information about the game. Thanks to FF-Reunion for the report, and to Oishii from KH13 for translating it. Update 1: Message from the KINGDOM has provided us with more information about Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. Oishii is translating this information, and you can read it below. ■Kingdom Hearts for PC Browser (tentative name) We introduce the series first social game intended for PC browsers. Controlling your own character, players will be able to travel through various Disney worlds on their internet browser. In the game you will advance by strategically battling with cards you obtain. At times you may need the help of a friend to fight against a foe. In this way we are introducing a new work with a system like nothing else in the series before. The adventure is fully loaded with item collections you build, and a game that will give you a long time of enjoyment. -Story- It is the world of a distant fairy-tale. The world is full of light. Various worlds are born in that light and so the light envelopes them. From the source of Kingdom Heart’s light, there is a x-blade that is protected. To that limit, the worlds believed in the eternal light. However, a strong light creates a dark shadow. From that darkness, anxiety and fear awakened their desire. With the darkness hidden within the depths of their hearts awakened, chaos began to spread across the worlds. In order to stop the spread of darkness, those who seek the light created a copy of the x-blade, a Keyblade, and an adventure concerning the fate of the worlds began. -System- Made to be played on the PC browser, the series first social game for the PC has been introduced. With the players main character, you can customize your avatar, travel to various Disney worlds, and much more. Explore each location for items so you can assemble cards and battle for victory or defeat. This game has developed a truly new and novel system. Occasionally you will need your friends help to kill an enemy so they can join in the fun! -Merchandise Summary- Trade name/ Kingdom Hearts for PC Browser (tentative) Supporting model / PC Genre / Online game for PC Browser Distribution game/ undecided Suggested Retail Price / Item Rate Structure ※Please wait. The official site will be open shortly Please be sure to wait for our follow-up report!! Update 2: 4Gamer.net have published an article revealing some more small details about the announcements. Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers will have character designs by Monster Octopus, the character designer for Kingdom Hearts Mobile, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy Brigade. Monster Octopus later denied this claim, and 4Gamer.net removed their statement. Judging from a video that 4Gamer saw (there seems to be a video!), they state that the game is primarily an action game with simple 2D graphics, containing scenes with the hero jumping, and hitting a treasure chest with the Keyblade. All players can become Keyblade wielders, and be brought into the Keyblade War. Disney characters appear, including Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Update 3: Thanks to goldpanner, we now have a translation of ReBirth Wings' trailer impressions. You can read these below. ♪Dearly Beloved -Reprise- ・A promo vid almost entirely in text. Inserted into the flow of text here and there were screens of the opening movie from KH2, the secret endings ‘Gathering’, and ‘Birth by Sleep’. The voicing was in English, with Japanese subtitles displayed. I’m sure it’s the same as the outline but I recorded the whole thing in case. “Far, far away, in a fairy-tale realm... The realm was filled with light. That light gave birth to many worlds, enveloping them. The source of the light, Kingdom Hearts, and the key that protected it, the χblade... As long as they existed, it was believed that the realm would be in eternal light. However, just as strong light will form a shadow, darkness was born. The darkness called up fear, unease and craving. Darkness, hidden deep in hearts, began to spread throughout the realm as chaos. In order to drive back the spreading darkness, those who wished for light created Keyblades in imitation of the χblade, and embarked on adventures that spanned the realm.” ・ From the “darkness spread” part, screens of gameplay show. Exploring Wonderland, Alice and the Cheshire Cat are confirmed. The way to open treasure chests follows the current trend of throwing the Keyblade and then tapping it. I feel quite sorry for the treasure chests! As for the screens of battle, there is a fight using the power of a card that has been drawn to confront (?) one enemy Shadow, sort of thing. By the way, the player used a Limit Form Sora card. It used a Ragnarok-type technique. Also, I was interested to see a treasure chest behind the Shadow. Field encounter style? ・There wasn’t a logo for the title, just text: Coming Soon
  5. At Tokyo Game Show 2012, Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers, an upcoming social web browser game with a tentative title. Since then, some screenshots and information has been released, but we still know relatively little about the title. Today, we have discovered that Korean publication INews24 have published some information about the game. The game, which they refer to as "Kingdom Hearts online game", is being developed by a Korean studio known as "Studio EX", which was recently acquired by Disney. Series director Tetsuya Nomura mentioned in October that the game was being developed externally, so this checks out. The article also mentions that the title is expected to become multi-platform, and released on smartphones as well as on the web browser. We have obtained a direct translation of the relevant part of the article, thanks to kalnet from KH13, and this translation can be read below. [Most of the article discusses Disney's acquisition of Studio EX, and some of the games that Studio EX is currently developing.] A Kingdom Hearts online game is being developed. Studio EX is expecting it to become a multi-platform game, where you can enjoy the game on smartphone or on the web. The action is likely to be a game similar to the MORPG genre.
  6. The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, releasing on October 4, 2012, has contained an article on Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, with mention of Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. Details of this article have appeared online on hokanko-alt, and translations have appeared thanks to our translator, goldpanner [original translation]. Read on to see a summary of what Nomura said, and check back later for scans and the full interview. - Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers is not a title with an emphasis on story, but they are working in a set-up. You can enjoy the content as something completely separate from the main series. The card battling is different from Chain of Memories. They are filling this title with new elements for this type of customisation-based title. Update: bKvEBVAvUq has uploaded the first small scan of the article, which gives us our first look at Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers! You can see this below, in our gallery. [Click here for all HD 1.5 ReMIX content from the same issue.]
  7. Speaking with Business Insider, Disney Interactive Studios have mentioned a "big title" that is supposedly coming to America "mid-year 2013". We don't know what this "big title" is, apart from that it's not Epic Mickey 2-- due to this, Business Insider have predicted that the title they are referring to is Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, and we agree. Disney Interactive don't have any other franchises as major as Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts, so it makes sense that this "big title" is the upcoming HD collection of Kingdom Hearts titles. Disney Interactive also mentioned that they are looking forward to "continuing to grow in the social space", which could possibly be a hint at Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers internationally-- but again, this is in no way a confirmation. Thanks to lizzie1238 from KH13 for the find.
  8. The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, releasing on October 4, 2012, has contained an article on Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, with mention of Kingdom Hearts for PC Browsers. The article contains a full interview with Tetsuya Nomura, and thanks to Famitsu.com and to goldpanner for translating, you can read this, as well as see the HQ screenshots, below. Report on Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5 ReMIX-: Pictures of prettied-up screens and an Interview with Mr. Tetsuya Nomura This year marks 10 years since the first Kingdom Hearts title was born, and now with the time ripe it is being remastered in HD. Let's peruse the content from these screencaps and an interview with director Mr. Tetsuya Nomura! A NEW DOOR OPENS IN HD Kingdom Hearts (hereon KH) is an action RPG series loved throughout the world. Of the seven stories that have been revealed so far, KH Final Mix and KH Re:Chain of Memories have been remastered in HD in KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, releasing in 2013 for PS3. On top of this, KH 358/2 Days is also included as a volume converted to video! Without further ado, let's check out the new images of each title, born again and more gorgeous than ever. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix Kingdom Hearts, in which Sora, the protagonist of the series, and Donald and Goofy travel through various Disney worlds. This title, which released in March 2002, returned triumphantly as KH Final Mix, which used the North American version that released the same year in December as a base with added components and the English voicing. This Final Mix version has been remastered in HD in KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-. The voicing that was in English will be in Japanese. Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories After the adventures of KH, Sora and Donald and Goofy set foot in 'Castle Oblivion', in which the further you go in, the more you lose your memories... KH Re:Chain of Memories, remastered in HD for this title, was originally included with KH2 Final Mix, which released in 2007. It was a 3D remake of the Gameboy Advance title KH Chain of Memories, which released in 2004. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 DAYS The protagonist of KH 356/2 Days is Roxas, a young man who played an important role in KH2. The story of Roxas and Axel, who takes care of him, and Xion, a girl who has newly joined 'Organisation XIII', unfolds. In KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, you can appreciate the main story of KH 358/2 Days put to video and bestowed new voicing as a video volume. Kingdom Hearts FOR PC BROWSER (TENTATIVE TITLE) Kingdom Hearts for PC Browser (tentative title), announced at Tokyo Game Show 2012 with KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, will be a free to play online game for PC browsers. As a player you will customise an avatar that will represent you and adventure through Disney worlds. It seems that undertaking quests and cooperating with friends to defeat enemies will be elements? WE ASK DIRECTOR MR. TETSUYA NOMURA ABOUT KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX- This year marks 10 years since the first Kingdom Hearts title was born, and now with the time ripe it is being remastered in HD. Let's peruse the content from these screencaps and an interview with director Mr. Tetsuya Nomura! ―Please tell us the details of how the release of KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX- came to be. Mr. Tetsuya Nomura (hereon Nomura): All the titles in the series so far are a collection, first establishing the internal set-up, called the 'Seeker of Darkness Chronicles' (※), and I wanted to bring together the whole story arriving at KH2 before we turn to its conclusion. ―There's strong meaning behind going over it again, isn't there. Will there be changes or additions to the content of the games? Nomura: The two titles that are included as games will have trophy support. We intend to include an extensive range of trophies, from the more orthodox to ones that won't go down easily. Also, the controls in KH1 have been modified to be a little closer to the ones in KH2. We've also replaced some of the models of the main characters with the most recent ones. ―Why are you remaking KH 358/2 Days as a video volume rather than a game? Nomura: Actually, I had also been thinking about doing a full remake like KH Re:Chain of Memories (hereon KH Re:CoM). However, if we had started that it would have considerably delayed starting work on the new title, so it ended up being included in the form of something like the 'theatre mode' that we already have in the series. We are changing 70% of the main story into cutscenes, with freshly-recorded voicing too, and we are currently working on around 100 scenes. If you watch from start to finish, you will know and understand the story of KH 358/2 Days. Though it's in a different form than the game I think people will enjoy it. ―Can you please tell us a little more about the series-first KH game for PC browser? Nomura: This is not a title with an emphasis on story, but we are working premises in. That said, for the first time in the series you can enjoy the content completely separately from the main series, so even beginners to the series might be able to be at ease playing it. The battling is different again from KH Re:CoM, and we are aiming for something with simple controls and flashy movements. I think customising is important to this type of game, so we are filling it with new elements in that area. ―By the way, what of a HD version of KH2 and up? Nomura: It would be unnatural not to (laughs). ―Here's hoping! And now, lastly, a message for the gamers please. Nomura: Because the series so far has been scattered over different consoles, I think there have been people who found it difficult to access, with sequels such as KH2 that might already have come out by the time they came to know about the series. With KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX- you can enjoy the story from the beginning, and in HD quality on top of that, so if you haven't played yet please by all means use this opportunity to do so. I think even those who have already played through the series may make new discoveries regarding foreshadowing of sequels and lines that reference previous lines and such by taking another look at everything aligned in chronological order. I would be happy if this title turns out to be a 'restart' for the series. ※Seeker of Darkness Chronicles... mentioned as the phrase 'Xehanort Chronicles' in a previous interview with Weekly Famitsu, this refers to Xehanort the Seeker of Darkness being the pivot of the whole series. 'Seeker of Darkness Chronicles' is the formal name first used in the project proposal. Update: We have scanned and uploaded high quality versions of the article in the October 4, 2012 issue of Famitsu Weekly. You can view these below. (And remember to click for a much larger image!)
