  2. During the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event, SuperGroupies announced their second collab with the franchise with 45 brand new wearable accessories. We went over these products back in July, showcasing each product. SuperGroupies was kind enough to send us a gorgeous backpack inspired by Aqua, and an extremely comfortable and stylish jacket inspired by Riku. I'm honestly really impressed with both of these items, so I will be reviewing them for you all here today! Aqua Backpack: Starting off first the stunning backpack inspired off Aqua's attire. Judging from the pictures I was actually expecting a very small bag, sort of similar to the Loungefly size so I was very caught off guard how large it is. It has two main compartments, and two bottle holder style side pockets with string to tighten them around an object to keep them in place. The color of the backpack is a very similar color to Aqua's shirt, and the front compartment has an X design on it with Kingdom Hearts written on it with the Master's Sigil in the middle. Inside the main compartment, it has lots of space allowing lots of room for things. I've used it a bunch since I've received it, and was able to carry lots of video game cases and photography accessories for my lightbox inside when I was travelling to a friends house. What makes this backpack shine is the interior pattern. Both compartments on the front open to a black and grey checkerboard pattern with the franchise's symbols scattered about. In the main pocket on the back wall, a gorgeous stained glass pocket is sewn to the back themed to Aqua, showing her Wayfinder, the Land of Departure, and all three Wayfinders together and other symbols. On the middle is a blue patch with the Master Defender Keyblade and a small Keyhole. It has a small little zipper to access the small pocket, givng you space for a wallet or some cards. The backpack overall can fit lots of things inside and is honestly very comfortable. One thing I do wish it had though, was some sort of Wayfinder keychain of some sort attached to one of the outer zippers to match the theme! Riku Jacket: This jacket was one I was worried about at first, because of the size difference, but they really knocked it out of the park. It's a nice black color, and the sleeves have a shiny silver to them. It has two large pockets on either side, and a zipper pocket on the left arm next to some belts. The right arm's cuff also features a very small Heartless sigil which I thought was a really cool addition since it matches the one on the chest as well. The main body has a sleek blue line of fabric going across. Inside at the collar, it features a gorgeous logo of the letter R in blue and black and checkered with Way to the Dawn going through it as well as the crown, a seashell, and another Heartless sigil. I'm not much of a jacket person myself, but I found it really comfortable compared to most jackets you can buy. I would consider more of a springbreaker type jacket if I was honest, and it's probably not best for super cold climates. The best part about it was that it fit perfectly! If you're not wearing the hood, the top of the zipper's flaps fold back to have a lapel design, similar to Riku's jacket. The hood is a bit too big for me, but I'm sure someone taller than I am would fit right into it. I definitely plan to wear this one out more during the fall and springtime weather! SuperGroupies definitely knocks it out of the park with their products. I've been curious about them for so long, and I'm so thankful to be able to review these two items. Their Kingdom Hearts products are all stunning and now that I've seen it first hand I wholeheartedly believe the remainder of the collab's products are the same touch of quality! I might be picking more up in the future! If you're interested in any of SuperGroupies Kingdom Hearts collaboration items, you can buy them directly off their website by clicking here. They do ship globally, but if you wish to order from their English website, you can do so as well here. If you'd want to follow SuperGroupies on Twitter, you can follow them @SuperGroupiesUS. 10. Recently, content creator Shesez uploaded a new video in his Boundary Break series, where he takes the camera anywhere he wants to discover secrets in various games. This time, Shesez tackled the first Kingdom Hearts entry, showcasing several intriuging finds, such as viewing angles that players would never see throughout their playthroughs, zoom-ins on models and areas, and more. Although, perhaps the most major part of this specific Boundary Break is fully seeing Sora’s room which is only ever partially seen otherwise. Unused elements in the Halloween Town world are also shown off. You can view the Boundary Break video for the first Kingdom Hearts game below or you can check it out on his Youtube Channel. The version he used is not the original PlayStation 2 release, but one of the HD re-releases. Shesez did a similar video for Kingdom Hearts II roughly four years ago.

  12. A KINGDOM HEARTS Roleplay featuring original stories with OCs, exploring the era of Scala ad Caelum during the time and events of the upcoming Missing-Link. In other words, a "fictional" variation of the events that have yet to be officially transcribed. The story of the RP will feature characters that act independently from both Brain and Sigurd, going about their own daily lives and missions as Keyblade wielders whilst living within the borders of Scala ad Caelum's grand city. The starting point of the RP will feature my OC named Thor explaining things to new Keyblade wielders that have joined the secret society that safeguards the order of the Worlds. Afterwards, the main plot will begin, with everyone's characters beginning their travels across Disney Worlds that have yet to be explored in the games. Here are the rules: Please be respectful of each other or risk getting banned from the RP. This is not a rule per say but it would be nice if everyone would name their characters after figures from Norse mythology. However, names like Baldr and Heimdall for examples cannot be used, as they have already appeared in the games. No god-modding. No swearing. Use proper grammar when conveying the intentions of your characters. No including characters from the games such as Sora and Brain, as this Roleplay shares an indirect continuity with the events of the Dark Seeker/Xehanort Saga, the χ (Chi) series and the Lost Master Arc. Romance is allowed but nothing 18+. All characters must start off at the fountain plaza of Scala ad Caelum seen in the ending of KINGDOM HEARTS Union Cross. Finally, have fun to your Hearts' content. Character Sheet: Name: Age: Appearance: Bio: Keyblade: Weapon: (If you are not a Keyblade wielder.) Japanese Voiceover: (Not specifically required.) English Voiceover: (Not specifically required.) Theme Song: (Not specifically required.) Alignment: (Light, Darkness or Neutral.) (Please write down "May my Heart be my guiding Key" at the top or bottom of your Character Sheets to show that you have read the rules.)
  13. This is the one perfect way to bring Star Wars to Kingdom Hearts. Sure, Sora could go through the usual rhythm where he shows up on the Star Wars world, meets some Star Wars characters, helps them with their problems, and then moves on to the next step in his journey. However, this one perfect way would allow Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars to fluidly coexist in the same universe. This is the way: https://www.thegummiblog.com/the-perfect-way-to-bring-star-wars-to-kingdom-hearts/ EXCERPT: Ever since the KINGDOM HEARTS IV announcement trailer, fans have been losing their minds speculating about Star Wars coming to KINGDOM HEARTS. The part of the trailer with the beautiful, realistic forest supposedly contains a droid foot just barely peeking in at the top of the scene. At first I thought it was just a rock, a very droid-foot-shaped rock. After seeing this video comparing the rock with the droid foot, I was convinced. I think we can safely say Sora has a lightsaber Keyblade in his future.
  14. Seth Kearsley, the director and producer of the scrapped 2003 Kingdom Hearts animated series, has revealed more tidbits about the series on his Twitter including the cast list and part of the script for the pilot episode. You can check them out in the gallery below. The cast list has many of the voice actors from the 2002 video game including David Gallagher and Hayden Panettiere as Riku and Kairi, respectivly as well as Susan Blakeslee as Maleficent, Tony Anselmo and Donald, Bill Farmer as Goofy, and Johnathan Freeman as Jafar. The legendary actor Frank Welker was going to lend his voice as the Tiger Head for the Cave of Wonders. The only main difference was going to be the voice of Sora. Haley Joel Osment, the current voice of Sora, was unavailable at the time due to schedule conflict. Instead, Sora was going to be voiced by Bobby Edner, who had done some voice work for Disney in Monsters, Inc., Agent Cody Banks, and The Jungle Book 2. Fans of Final Fantasy might have remember him as the English dub of Vaan in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The script that Seth revealed was from the pilot episode titled "Agrabah". This episode would have included a dream sequence from Destiny Island when Sora and Riku were dueling with wooden swords with Kairi watching. An interesting aspect of the script is the order of takes. Hayden recorded her lines early while Bobby recorded his lines near the middle, and David recorded his lines later. In addition to the cast list and the script, Seth also revealed that he's trying to get the pilot episode converted over to digital and pending approval from Disney, will post it on his Youtube channel in the next upcoming weeks. For more about the scrapped animated series, you can check out the storyboard for the pilot on his DeviantArt page. We also did an interview with Seth back in 2017 so if you would like to read about that, then click here. What do you think about these new pieces of information? Let us know in the comments! UPDATE 10/6/2022: Seth Kearsley has shared a new video on his YouTube channel discussing the pilot's production and how it came to be. He discusses how he came to rewrite the script of the pilot following his disappointment of how the original script was like. In his words, it read like an episode of Aladdin co-starring Kingdom Hearts characters rather than vice versa. Further, the test screening for the episode performed well, but it was ultimately shelved. View full article

For those interested in physical editions, be warned the book is BIG - the hardcover making an excellent collectors item and companion text. Whether new to the series or a 20 years veteran, Simple & Clean captures the essence of Kingdom Hearts magic and explores many concepts within its own foundations - some of which the games themselves have yet to explore. As before, with Melodies of Life, this is part retrospect, part analysis and is written as a demonstration of applying critical theory and literary criticism to the video game medium in the hopes that one day there will be many, many more books about interactive storytelling and our favourite video games. Thanks for your attention - stay safe, everyone, and may your heart be your guiding key! - JLC
  17. In Kingdom Hearts II when Sora first visits Yen Sid’s Tower, he enters a room where there are three fairies (Fauna, Flora and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty) are as well as covered up mirrors which trigger the reaction command (triangle button) with a message from each mirror. Most people would assume the messages are just random, but each mirror refers to every Drive Form Sora is able to use in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. Below are a the list of messages and which Drive Form they are linked to: “An image of you utilizing your strength to its fullest flows into your mind.” – Valor Form “An image of you utilizing your magic to its fullest flows into your mind.” – Wisdom Form “An image of you possessing all abilities flows into your mind.” – Master Form “An image of the Keyblade unleashing its ultimate power flows into your mind.” – Final Form “An image of you obtaining old powers flows into your mind” – Limit Form “An image of you overcome by the power of darkness flows into your mind.” – Anti Form
