  1. This comes as no surprise tbh, but Square released something to do with finances i think which showed KHIII under '2018 and beyond' http://www.psu.com/news/32802/kingdom-hearts-3-release-date-and-final-fantasy-7-release-date
  2. As we all know, Marluxia's lesser Nobodies have been confirmed to be residing in The Kingdom of Coronia (the Tangled world). Question is, do you personally believe that Marluxia will be involved with the events of the Tangled world? I was fairly dismissive about Marluxia being a Seeker of Darkness at first, after all, he wanted to overthrow Xemnas. However, upon contemplating deeper, Xemnas is no longer the head honcho of the Seekers of Darkness. Because of that, Marluxia may have been willing to compromise his heart for to wield a Keyblade for himself and get Norted after being returned as a somebody. Plus, his element is floral and nature. Tangled is a movie that revolves around The Golden Flower (and consequently, Rapunzel). Put two and two together and you can naturally see his involvement in the world.
  3. In KH1, we fought the Rock Titan and the Ice Titan, and in BBS, we fought a fake copy of the Ice Titan called Ice Colossus. I'm really hoping that KH3 follows the story of the Disney movies more and we actually fight all of the villains from each movie in each world. In KH3 trailers, we've seen that the Rock Titan has returned. Do you think the Ice Titan will return as well, and do you think we'll fight all of the other Titans while we're at it? It'd be so amazing to see all of the Titans taking over Olympus and we have to take them down. It'd be nice to hear the Titans actually talking this time around too. And it'd be neat to have their actual names be in the Journal this time instead of just "Rock Titan" and "Ice Titan". Having separate boss fights for Lythos, Hydros, Pyros, Stratos, and Cyclops would be absolutely fantastic in my opinion. What do you think? Or do you think that'd maybe be too many boss fights for a single world? In my opinion, there's no such thing as "too many boss fights" lol Oh, and also, if we take down all of the Titans from the movie in KH3, then in a future KH game after KH3, we can move on and fight the Titans from the Hercules TV show.
  4. First of all, thanks to an anonymous friend who helped me rip soundfonts from KHII to make this. I saw Moana last weekend and I fell in love, so I decided to make one of those KHIII Imagined songs. This is how I think it'd be the field theme for a possible Moana world, using part of "Where you are" and "How far I'll go". I titled this song "Motunui Undertow" EDIT: Added a download link to the description box!
  5. I really want Sora, Donald, Goof, and any other party member we have in KH3 to talk to each other during gameplay like the characters do in Final Fantasy XV. It would be hilarious to hear Sora and Donald constantly bickering with each other. Imagine if Sora even got upset with Donald if he doesn't heal him or something like that. It would flesh out the characters a whole lot more and make them feel like actual people who you can get to know and relate to along your massive journey.
  6. Do you think the Princesses of Heart could be the Key to Return Hearts? We don't know exactly what it is, but judging by it's name, it has the ability to return someone's heart, whatever that means. This reminds me of the time in KH1 when Kairi hugged Sora's Heartless and was able to bring him back to his regular self. One could say she "returned his heart" back to normal. Nomura said she was able to do this because she has special Princess of Heart light powers. So, maybe the Princesses of Heart can be used to create some kind of Keyblade, like how their hearts were used to create the Keyblade of heart? Maybe the Keyblade of heart is the Key to Return Hearts? It never got an official name, so maybe that's it's official name? The whole thing that made the Keyblade of heart special was that it had the ability to unlock people's hearts, but later in the series, we discover that Keyblade Masters have the ability to unlock hearts, so that makes the Keyblade of heart not seem special anymore. It's sort of special because it allows people who aren't Keyblade Masters to unlock people's hearts, but that isn't really that special or impressive. So maybe the true purpose of the Keyblade of heart is that it can also return people who have succumbed to the darkness back to their original selves? Or maybe it can just "return hearts" in general, which means it can do loads of things? Like being able to make Ven's heart return to his body for example. EDIT: The Keyblade of heart is also special because it also acted as the χ-blade to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness' artificial Kingdom Hearts.
  7. Hey there everyone, how's it going!? So then, as you all know, Nomura was recently interviewed for Famitsu Weekly regarding 2.8, but during this interview, he was asked about KHIII's development status! Here I, The Friendly Neighborhood Webhead, share my thoughts on what he had to say! While I am disheartened, at the same time, I'm okay, because at least Nomura was honest about this with us! And besides, we still have a full year of exciting news and surprises, so I'm sure we'll get enough to bide time till KHIII eventually comes out, ya know?
  8. My final submission. Since my last one was a field theme for a Imagined Moana World, this one was supposed to be the battle theme but I think it works better as a minigame theme, to be honest. This song is titled Moana Koa. I want to thank again a friend who helped me rip KHII soundfonts. And as always, the download link is in the description of the video!
  9. Please do not hate me or love me. I do not deserve praise nor condemnation.
  10. Over time, I had thought of a way that Oswald could effectively be incorporated into Kingdom Hearts III. So, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was originally going to be Disney's mascot instead of Mickey Mouse. Universal and Disney struck a contract and they both owned the rights to this new popular rabbit. Long story short, Universal turned against Disney and many of Disney's animators left the studio to join Universal with Oswald's success. Walt Disney gave up on Oswald and tried to create a character that could beat Universal's lucky rabbit with his now small team. The odds were slim, but then Mickey Mouse was born, and we all know the story from there. Interestingly enough, Disney eventually managed to get the rights back to Oswald from Universal through an extensive trade in 2006. My, how the tables have turned. Oswald is commonly known for his appearances in the Epic Mickey franchise as a antagonist turned to a ally, representing his abnormal history. Now how can Oswald be put into KH3? Disney technically do have the rights to Oswald, so he does have a chance of appearing in Kingdom Hearts III. We can give him a background as brother to Mickey in the game. He is a keyblade wielder like Mickey and was meant to be crowned King of Disney Castle. He was given all of the secrets and important information and history surronding the castle. He was to be king, that is, until Oswald was consumed by the heartless and banished to another world, perhaps Wasteland, the central setting for Epic Mickey. After some time, Maleficent finds Oswald like she did with Pete and sensed his darkness. She thought that having a keyblade bearer with the power of darkness and knowledge upon Disney Castle would be quite useful. Oswald joins Maleficent's side when hearing that he could have a chance of being king again. Time for the brilliance. Perhaps Maleficent had aquired Oswald sometime between KH2 and 3D. We found that in the new Re:coded scene introduced in 2.5 that Maleficent knows about the Book of Prophecies and how it can help her. So in 3D she tries to take the world's data. Maleficent could just ask Oswald to help her find it, but Maleficent worries that if Oswald comes along, then he might be powerful enough to overthrow her. Instead, she tries a forceful approach like in 3D, but fails. Now she sees the only way to get access to the world's data is through Oswald's information in KHIII. Funny thing is, they are successful. In the secret Unchained Zero scene in χ[chi], we see Maleficent in Enchanted Dominion. This normally would be no big deal but she speaks of Sora, and that time period no one should know him. It is suggested and hinted that the entire universe of χ[chi] is being told through the Book of Prophecies. So Maleficent was successful? Also note that in her dialogue she says, "It seems it went well," possibly meaning that Oswald'a lead was right. She also says, "Where in the world did he go to again?" "He" could mean Oswald, and he does have a record of being quick to act, and in another translation Maleficent said "he" was a fool, that could also fall under Oswald. He could continue to have a fierce rivalry with Mickey through the game but learn to fall as allies like in Epic Mickey. So what do you guys think about this? Remember, this is just speculation, but this lucky rabbit's appearance is not entirely impossible.
  11. Spoilers under cut for those whom do not wish to see anything of the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 cinematic, or spoilers of possible KH3. Unofficial discussion!
  12. If I'm talking like an idiot again, I apologize. According to Xehanort at the end of Dream Drop Distance (I'm not believing a single word he says because he lies like a crusty old rug but we don't really have much of a choice at the moment), the original X-Blade was shattered by some unknown means into seven fragments of pure Light and thirteen fragments of pure Darkness and he plans to recreate it with the same method. Question 1A) If, according to Xehanort, the thirteen fragments of Darkness were lost in the Realm Of Darkness for eons, how does using thirteen new Darknesses equate to the same thing? Wouldn't that mean he's creating another fake like he did before? Question 1B) If the seven fragments of Light became the Hearts of the seven Princesses, would that mean the thirteen Darknesses became Hearts of pure Darkness as well? And if so, does that mean the reforging of the the X-Blade will cause the hearts of the heroes and the Seekers to erupt from their chests, join together, and coalesce into the X-Blade, including Xehanort's? How does he expect to wield it it if he more or less dies in the process of its making? Question 2) Let's say Xehanort wins and he get the X-Blade and then proceeds to kick off Keyblade War II, how does he expect that to happen if by that point he's the only Keyblade wielder left? Not really much of a war if it's just one person. Are all the Keyblades in the Keyblade Graveyard suddenly going to fly into the sky, travel to all the worlds, land in people's hands and send them into a universe ending berserker rage?
  13. Just as the Title says. I'm not sure how it could happen, but do you think it will happen? Would you be surprised? Happy? Upset? Confused? Irritable? Hungry? Sleepy? Dizzy? (sorry, I'm on hour 13 of work I'm out of it...) Anyhoo, what do you guys think?
  14. Game Designer Square Enix August 2014 - June 2015 (11 months) | Osaka, Osaka, Japan "Kingdom Hearts III" (PS4, Xbox One) Development (10 Months ) Original-level planning, documentation and execution for 2 Worlds INCLUDING enemy, Item, secrets and event Management. Mockup Creation of 3 Worlds INCLUDING temporary Asset Creation. Game idea planning and documentation. Game Check and balance. Enemy planning and documentation. Gummi Ship system planning and documentation. Multiplayer planning and documentation. Attraction Flow planning and documentation. Main Scenario planning for 2 Worlds. Various in-Game dialogue writing. Translation and Interpretation of Contact Between Involved English and Japanese parties INCLUDING Disney and Pixar. Publicity video Recording and editing. Communication with Outsourced companies. Holding Meetings with Disney and Pixar. Team Management, Meeting Management and Proceeding Recordings. I know that this is an old news post, however, I feel as though it still has relevance. Firstly, the 2.9 game turned out to be 2.8 (containing Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage and X Back Cover), but more importantly, there's a lot of things to understand with regards to how Kingdom Hearts III is forming. First off, it seems as though that Square Enix are communicating far more frequently with Disney with regards to Kingdom Hearts III (and rightly so seeing as it is a mainline game). This goes to show that the promotion and publicity is a joint effort with Square Enix and Disney with regards to Kingdom Hearts III. 2.8 on the other hand isn't as scheduled and corporately monitored by Disney (as most of the elements of that game is original content with no new Disney properties introduced). Secondly, I'd like to point out the phrase "In-game dialogue writing". A lot of people assumed that those were either grunts or cut scenes, but now that we know that Aqua is able to talk during game play in 0.2, I feel as though that's what in game dialogue is referring too. There was also the question of NPC's in a world. I have a good feeling that we will finally have NPC interaction as X Back Cover showed a crowd of player characters in a cut scene. That's not my strongest point to prove NPC interaction for Kingdom Hearts III, sure, but it ties in with the "in game dialogue" possibilities, for example, Sora talking to a citizen in San Fransokyo. Finally, and here's the big kicker. Pixar. Now, for people who don't know what does on with Disney behind the scenes of their animated movies, During 2006, Disney CEO Bob Iger bought Pixar to be a Disney subsidiary, and as a result, Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter was the creative boss of Disney Animation (the Disney studio that has the movies featured in Kingdom Hearts). So, when it comes to Disney Animation movies from 2008 onwards (starting from Bolt), it's inevitable that Square Enix would have to contact this head honcho. Through sweet talk and mutual appreciation of each others work, Nomura could have convinced Disney to add Pixar in Kingdom Hearts III. So, what's everyone's thoughts on the conclusions that I've made?
  15. So...I've complained. I've complained A LOT, about the way KH3 looks since the E3 2015 trailer. Honestly, I could almost say I was let down by Square after seeing the way game looked on the Unreal engine 4 compared to the way it used to look on the Luminous Engine, BUT I'm more than happy to say that my complaints were absolutely pointless. Yep, the 0.2 footage from E3 convinced me that KH3 is going to look just as good as we all want it to look. How? Well let's see! EXHIBIT A: The environments They were never a problem, but it was great to see that the environments are still looking great. The textures, the details, the lighting, EVERYTHING is just perfect. But they looked just as good in the KH3 trailers so...Nothing to complain about here. EXHIBIT B: The particle effects...and other effects x) The magic, the effect it has on the environment it...it all looks so beautiful. Visually, it couldn't get any better. Once again, that's nothing new, it always looked great EXHIBIT C: The character models That was my main issue with KH3's look. The character models. In the very first trailer we were promised the characters would look a certain way and the latest trailers didn't live up to my expectations. They said Sora would look like this: Instead, he looked like that: And then we had terrible character models for Mickey, Riku, Kairi and Yen Sid. They all looked like Barbie dolls. The latest footage for 2.8 has shown immense improvement in the character models. As you can see in this screenshot featuring Ephemera, the character's hair and clothing are a lot more detailed and textured which is great. Their skin also doesn't look as "plasticky" as the previous screenshot which removes the doll effect Strangely, in the 0.2 portion of the trailer, Aqua's model still suffers of the doll effect. Her hair and cloth are really detailed but her skin still looks like plastic. I think that's mainly because of the lighting. It looks like Square has been having a hard time with finding the right lighting for night time with the new engine and that gives the characters like Terra, Aqua, Riku and Kairi a weird look since they were all in "nightime lighting" (Mysterious Tower & Realm Of Darkness are "night themed"). But as we've seen with X Back Cover, the right lighting seems to fix every problem. EXHIBIT D: The Art Direction (See attached files) As I mentioned earlier, with the very first trailer of KH3, Square showcased some graphics and they haven't really delivered what they promised. That's not because the Unreal Engine isn't good enough but because they changed the art direction. It wasn't clear what art direction they were going for with the 2015 trailers for KH3 but, for me, the 0.2 footage we've seen made the art direction clearer and it's actually something they teased in the very first trailer. If you look at the 0.2 cutscenes from the E3 demo, you'll notice that Aqua actually looks a lot like her model from the pre-rendered cutscenes. It doesn't really show in the E3 2016 trailer but it does in the demo. Even Terra, whose model probably isn't finished since it doesn't look very detailed, looks a bit like his pre-rendered counterpart. The main difference with their pre-rendered counterparts is that they look a bit more cartoony in the game. And I think that's exactly what Square is going for. Instead of making the characters look exactly like they do in the pre-rendered cutscenes, they are trying to make them look like their pre-rendered counterparts but with a cartoonish touch to capture the Disney aspect of KH. And they've shown that in the very first trailer, when "KH3D Sora" transitioned into "KH3 Sora". This might not be a revelation to everyone, but it enlightened things for me and I know other people like me complained about the visuals for KH3 so I wanted to show everybody that there is nothing to complain about. Square just has to get the "night lighting" right and everything'll be good I'm satisfied with KH3's look. Share your thoughts
  16. EDIT: This is an old post. There are things in this post that I no longer think or agree with. Read with a grain of salt. PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE COMMENTING Kingdom Hearts is my favorite series and I love many things about it. But, the only thing that actually aggravates me about this series is that death is meaningless. Whenever we kill a villain, they always come back by some bullshit method and whenever a good character dies, we get told that there's a way to bring them back. They act like a character dying is sad and they act like a character dying should make us sad or impact us in some way, but then just bring back the character/say the character can be brought back. This makes death absolutely meaningless and makes it so we feel no emotion when a character dies. Yes, we might feel a little emotion since we're seeing a character watch them die get sad and that rubs off on us, but we know that that character can easily come back so it's no where near as sad as it would be. Maleficent dies but comes back because the three fairies remembered her. Oogie Boogie dies but comes back because apparently Maleficent has the ability to bring people back from the dead. Ursula dies but comes back in some weird phantom form because apparently Xehanort has the ability to make that happen. Xion, Roxas, and Namine "die" but we get told that there's a way to bring them back. Eraqus dies but apparently his heart was able to take refuge within Terra. Xehanort, Lea, Isa, Braig, Dilan, Aeleus, Ienzo, and Even are all back because apparently your original self returns if your Heartless and Nobody are destroyed. Turns out Ansem the Wise didn't actually die, he just got sent to the Realm of Darkness for some reason somehow. Xemnas and Ansem Seeker of Darkness died but they're back because time travel. These are the most bullshit methods I've ever heard. Well, I guess the whole original person returning because Heartless/Nobody getting destroyed isn't that bad, but everything else I mentioned is complete bullshit. I remember playing Kingdom Hearts II when I was like 6 and getting very emotional when Roxas and Namine formed back with Sora and Kairi and I remember playing 358/2 Days when I was like 9 and getting very emotional when Xion died. But, it turns out none of that mattered. It turns out they can just come back. What was the point? What was the point of having those emotional scenes if they can just come back? These characters coming back completely destroys and gets rid of my sad emotions for these characters. It completely undermines the emotional experiences I had playing through those games for the first time. Dream Drop Distance completely destroyed the Kingdom Hearts plot in my opinion. Having Disney villains come back by bullshit means isn't that aggravating since they're considered pretty unimportant when compared to the main characters, but when Dream Drop Distance came along and told us that all these characters came back and told us that all these other characters *can* come back, I was speechless. How could they do this? How could they just completely make all these characters I loved's deaths just mean absolutely nothing when they meant so much to me and impacted me so much? Whenever I'd go replay the games and watch Roxas and Namine fuse back with Sora and Kairi or watch Xion die, I'd get emotional. But now, whenever I see those scenes, I feel nothing, because I know that any character can just come back. I've seen people asking "what would ruin KH3 for you?" People reply with things such as "if the gameplay plays like Birth by Sleep or Dream Drop Distance", "if the graphics are bad", "if the final boss is anticlimactic", and "if it turns out Xehanort isn't the true villain", but the only thing that could ruin Kingdom Hearts III for me is if Xion, Roxas, and Namine return. The only thing that could ruin Kingdom Hearts III for me is if they rip those emotional moments from my past right out of my memories. And the sad thing is is I know they are going to do that. Now don't get me wrong, Kingdom Hearts III looks fantastic. Gameplay looks like it might be the most fun I'll ever have playing a game, graphics look great, cutscenes look interesting and exciting, but man, having Xion, Roxas, and Namine return would really be a downer. It wouldn't completely ruin the game for me, but it would definitely leave a substantial bitter taste in my mouth. Am I the only one who feels this way? I can't be, right? I can think of a few other shows/games where a dead character returns and people are furious, so who else here feels the same way about KH? And I have a question for people who don't feel this way: "Why don't you feel this way?" Did you just not get emotional over their deaths to begin with so you won't care if they return? Sorry for the long post. It's just, I haven't seen anyone else feel this way (I've actually only seen people feel the opposite way), so I had to vent and get this out of my system. Please, Square Enix, let Roxas, Namine, and Xion rest in peace.
  17. I have created a poll for "What Disney Movie Would You Like To Be A World In Kingdom Hearts III The Most?" and have been sharing it around the internet. There are many polls about this, but most of them are generally small polls that don't quite accurately show what most people would like as worlds. Since this is the case, I have created this poll in hopes of it becoming the definitive and most universal and accurate poll for this question. So, please participate in this poll and share it around to as many people as you can. Thank you! Poll: http://www.poll-maker.com/poll771855x0b714d5E-31
  18. After I theorised that Ventus is a potential Dandelion, the first thought that immediately popped into my head is that, the Reincarnation theory is shot down... but then again, the connections between the heroes and Fortellers are too coincidental not to make obvious comparisons. So I considered how else the Foretellers could be connected to the heroes, and then it dawned upon me: what if the heroes are spiritual successors as opposed to literal reincarnations. and Way2Dawn provided the perfect explanation. "Is it possible that we have the reincarnation theory completely backward? The Book of Prophecies projects images and illusions of the future, so is it possible that the Fortellers clothes were stylized based off of the Heroes of today that they felt closely connected to? So someone like Ava saw an image of Kairi being projected by the Book of Prophecies and felt a connection with her, so her robes are styled to fit Kairi's image?" Way2Dawn. Now only does this theory give a more simple and plausible explanation with the Fortellers and heroes, but, it doesn't have to diminish the uniqueness of the Foretellers in the process unlike the Reincarnation theory. So, here are the Kingdom Hearts X characters and the heroes that they molded themselves by using the Book of Prophecies. Master of Masters = Ansem the Wise Master Ava = Kairi Master Ira = Riku Master Aced = Terra Master Gula = Ventus Master Invi = Aqua Master Luxu = Axel
  19. I'm not even surprised, Square Enix were one of the first companies to receive devs kits. Their departments are big enough to simultaneously develop for Kingdom Hearts III whilst being familiar with the Nintendo NX as a console. Update: Despite this image being confirmed as fake, it's still a relevant subject to discuss the possibility.
  20. So I finished this picture today, its of Kairi and a new Keyblade design I call it Frozen Heart from Frozen!
