  1. Do you have any soft spots for characters in games, shows, books, manga, anime, etc.? And if you feel comfortable with telling us, you may also tell us what makes you feel that way about that character or characters. For me, well, I guess it's a little bit too obvious, isn't it? Well, I have plenty of soft spots for my favorite characters, but I've already explained the one for Veemon like 7 times now, so I'll share a lesser known one of mine. (Not the character itself is less known, but my soft spot for that character is less known) Sonic the Hedgehog. Him and Mario were my first favorite characters of all-time. Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle were the first Sonic games I played, and I just loved playing as Sonic! (And also Tails, but that's a tail for another time. ) Well, that's enough from me for now. How about you? Do you have any soft spots? Rock on!
  2. So for Christmas, I got a $20 Nintendo e-shop gift card. And with that, I got a 2D platformer called Shovel Knight. I initially only played about thirty minutes of it before getting distracted by Super Mystery Dungeon. However, I've recently been playing it a lot more. And I enjoy every second of it. Shovel Knight just does so many things right in terms of what video games are capable of doing, and what many games don't even bother to do. For starters, the game has a great difficulty curve. It's starts off rather easy and somewhat simple. And as you progress through the game, the game gets steadily harder and complex. This seems like something completely natural for video games to do, but these days, it's usually either insanely hard stuff, or a difficulty setting with a static difficulty curve the whole way through. But with Shovel Knight? Nope. It presents its levels, and asks you, the player, to beat it. Not that the game isn't able to be played by everybody. In retrospect, the game is actually quite forgiving, but still punishing. Whenever you die, you get sent back to the last checkpoint and lose a large sum of your current money. However, if you manage to make your way back to where you died, you get the chance to reclaim whatever money you lost the last time you died. This is a very good system, because it gives you a sense of, "get up and try again". And it's much better than a lives system from a game like Mario. You can try as many times as you like without much repercussion. And now, I would like to talk about my favorite thing about Shovel Knight. Once I realized that this game was doing this, I started tearing up. And that's the fact that the game has no tutorials, but still teaches the player. Games these days shove so many tutorials down the player's throat, that you just kinda wish they were just not there. But Shovel Knight comes along and ditches them completely. Rather than tutorials, the game teaches by playing. The best example of this, in my opinion, is in Shovel Knight's stage. One of the reoccurring gimmicks in that stage is ice stuck to the wall. Touching it causes the ice to fall as a platform onto spikes below. So, how does the game teach you this? Well, you fall down a pit, and you fall onto that ice. That's how you learn that touching the ice makes safe platforms. There is no sense of danger at that point, and only in points after that. At that point, if that causes you to die, then it's your fault. The game does this consecutively. It presents a gimmick in a safe environment, and then mixes that with more dangerous situations. This makes every single death not your fault. This is something that I really wish more games did. It truly is a beautiful thing when a game can do this. And that's all I really want to talk about. And for anybody wondering how much I really like this game...well, let's just say that, from a design-only perspective, this is one of the best games I've ever played. I'm not sure what I would rate it on a 1-10 scale, but it would definitely be at least an 8.5. Well, that's all folks! Thanks for reading, if you did!
  3. Article I honesty do not want to know what kind of mentality you have to have to want to do something this. Either way, I hope the management wasn't too pissed off. *rimshot*
  4. https://youtu.be/0RzIDj0FGH0 I was just watching this episode of Extra Credits, and he brings up a good point about one of the pitfalls, and that is throwaway lines. He uses Destiny as an example. Ironically I think KH has actually avoided this one, as the dialogue is only in cutscenes and serves a greater purpose than just filling dead air. What are some of the other pitfalls that you notice when playing games.
  5. So after a very complicated/busy time i have finally found time to play some video games but now i have a problem i have to many games that i want to Platinum / 100% complete but i always seem to get bored quite often when playing the same game. i used to believe that i could complete a game 100% in one playthrough, now i know that, that is quite hard in some and impossible in others without grinding and playing multiple playthroughs so i ask do you guys have any tips / advice on how to grind efficiently and not get too bored? the list: some i have finished, but not 100% Tales of Symphonia Chronicles ( finished symphonia 1 ) : Need to Grade Grind/Level Grind in Symphonia 2 Tales of Xilla ( Finished ) : ^Grade Tales of Xillia 2 ( Almost finished ) : ^Grade Tales of Hearts R ( Almost finished ) : ^Grade Hyperdevotion Noire ( Lily Ranks ) : Need to Get Every character to 100 friendship when there are 30 characters and each kiss grants 1 Atelier Ayesha ( 2nd Playthrough ) : Multiple Endings I know each game is different but is there a way to make the grinding a little more bearable. Thanks!
  6. http://mynintendonews.com/2015/10/29/nintendo-president-says-theres-more-unannounced-titles-for-this-year/ Twilight Princess HD anyone? now it's possible that IF they are in fact working on Twilight Princess HD for the wii u it may end up releasing by the end of this year
  7. So, out of every weapon you've seen in media(video games, anime, movies, etc.), which one do you think is the coolest/most creative? Personally, I would have to go with Nami's(One Piece) weapon, the Clima Tact. I mean, it's a melee weapon that can manipulate the weather in many ways, including producing mirages and thunder clouds to strike her enemy. What isn't cool about that?
  8. Can a video game that that is playable on a next gen console because of backwards compatibility get a remake/remaster on the same system?
  9. use this post that I did on miiverse to tell my either this is really fake or not even though there might be a nintendo direct coming out this month. I just want to solve this mystery once and for all. I just don't know what to think about this rumor anymore. Here's the leak http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Title_database#00050000:_Wii_U_game_titles Here's the post: https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAADVHkiE0r3Vg

  12. Just like the title says, is there any good survival games for the PS3?
  13. I only have three games on this list because I have yet to have a lot of franchises yet. 1. Zelda U 2. The Walking Dead season 3 3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja storm 4 P.S. I would have put Five Night's at Freddy's 3 as number 4 on my list, but the game is probably going to come out in a month or two, so I didn't even bother putting it on there.
  14. I think paper mario sticker star ruined the paper mario franchise big time.
  15. At first I was against the idea that zelda u should be an open world game. I know it's been confirmed though, but now I think that zelda u is going to be a good game without any type of linearity in it. The game might be just like minecraft and skyrim, where the game is so opened and barely has any story(I doubt that zelda u will not have a story and I know that minecraft doesn't have a story at all) that people won't care about it, or won't even think about it. I think this sometimes happens with all games that don't have their primary focus in story. I like linear games more than open world games, but I'm trying to open myself up so I can enjoy non-linear games.
  16. Anyone on here play League? Im bored and want to know because its kinda my life lol My summoner name is Pandora2721 if you ever wanna play~~~
  17. Hi Everyone, as you all know Christmas is creeping up on us and I was just looking for some advice as to what games I should get. The thing is, my brother has offered to buy me a christmas present within the $50-$60 range which I think is pretty resonable and I've decided that I would like to get Pokemon Alpha Sapphire which is being released next month. However, we made an agreement that if I completed Pokemon Black and defeated the Elite Four he woulde get it for me. But lately he's been talking about Pokemon Black 2 and what not and to be perfectly honest, I don't really want the sequel game because I didn't pay $250 to play an Intendo DS game, no I paid all that money to play 3Ds games. I'm not really sure if we're still sticking to the agreement or not so I'll have to ask him about that. If that doesn't work my mother has also offered to buy me something as well. Although, there is another game I am thinking of getting and that is the Sims 4. Now, I know what you're all thinking I'm getting ripped off here and what not. But I've played it and I think its pretty good and since I just lost all of the Sims 3 files thanks to my brother, I am thinking its time to take another step forward. So what do you all think I should do? What other games can you recommend to me and if you like, you can tell me what you would like for Christmas in the comments! Also, have some pony.
  18. The Censors: "Hmm...This game The Witcher 2 sure has a lot of brutality and violence, and that's all fine, But holy sh*t!! Nipples and butts!! Quick! Outlaw this game now!! -------------------------------------------------- And that's why The Witcher 2 was banned!~ ♥
