  1. I'll be a lot of you are surprised and, upon seeing this title, were more than happy to correct me with the irrefutable proof Xion is, in fact, a useless blob, a Mary Sue, and that there are better characters to focus on. Honestly, I agree with the last part. The second part I already wrote an essay against. I suppose one is going to refute the first part. First off, I'm not necessarily advocating Xion's inclusion in Days. I'm not examining her (lack of?) necessity. I'm not decrying nor supporting her role in the story, and whether or not Days truly needed her to carry the story it wanted. That's an argument for the fans and the haters, which can both be pretty obnoxious. The only thing I'm doing is seeing how what is presented fits into KH's story. The conclusion I drew is that Xion is the direct opposite of useless. On the contrary, of the RAX trio, Xion has the most active role. A lot of people are happy to whine at Xion for running away from her friends instead of telling them her problems. They have the idea that all Xion needed to do was confide into her friends and everything would've been hunky dory, that they could have found a better solution if they all worked together, and that her keeping secrets made the whole thing worse because OMG what a stupid selfish bitch!!!1 Um, no. Not really. Okay, Xion keeping secrets wasn't good. At no point did the story present it as the proper thing to do. But when I thought about reasons for why Xion didn't tell them--which were sadly left mostly unexplored within the game proper--the more I realized how Xion had the best grasp of the situation out of everyone. And not only was she was the only one who knew about the situation, she was the only one who actively did something about it. Roxas and Xion needed to go back to Sora. They couldn't coexist without killing each other, either. There was no way around it, and Xion understood that. Her running away and not telling her friends what's going on wasn't the best choice, because KH2 showed Roxas peacefully (though sadly) accepting his fate. They probably could've avoided Roxas needing to kill her altogether and save him a lot of heartache. BUT, there are factors that would make such an outcome really hard to pull off. Axel is the main one. Axel didn't give two shits about Sora. He wanted to keep Roxas and Xion as his friends regardless if Sora got the shaft. Wanting to keep them as his friends wasn't exactly unsympathetic, since friendship is in short supply as a Nobody in Organization XIII. He wanted that friendship so badly he was willing to lie to Roxas and beat up Xion if it meant protecting them. Just like Xion running away wasn't presented as good, neither was Axel's actions. But, it seems weird how many people are quick to demonize Xion's actions while sympathizing with Axel (probably has something to do with the fanbase he had years to acquire). In fact, it's damn near hypocritical to defend Axel on the basis of, "Well, what choice did he have?" while treating Xion as the only one truly in the wrong because hey, it's not like she had no choice either and Axel was the one actually stopping her from setting things right. Had Xion confided into Axel, he really would've stopped both of them. In fact, he would've made things worse for everyone. There was nothing he could've realistically done to help their situation. He couldn't stop how Roxas and Xion's coexistence would kill each other. He wouldn't have let either of them merge back with Sora, whether or not they were willing. He would've tried to talk them out of it, or failing that, keep them by force. But, since he couldn't have done anything about the coexistence thing--and because he couldn't have helped them short of allowing Xion, who understood what she needed to do, to accomplish her goal--the only thing he accomplished was losing Roxas's trust. Xion's a bitch? Please. Axel made the entire situation worse by preventing them from from understanding the situation. For sympathetic reasons, definitely, but I'm sorry--you cannot demonize Xion without demonizing Axel as well. You either sympathize with both or you sympathize with neither. I do the former. Everyone had to draw their own conclusions because Roxas wanted to know the truth about himself, and Xion did know and had to merge back with Sora to set everything right. Axel prevented the both of them from doing so. (Sorry, I'm not a big Axel fan [or a big Xion fan for that matter], so I have no bias goggles on to speak of. I honestly do believe people automatically defend Axel over Xion simply because they like him better, not out of any true examination of who was more right or wrong.) Xion was the only one who knew what was going on, but unlike Axel and Roxas, she actually had solutions to do something about it. She sought out Riku and Namine for help, because she couldn't have trusted her friends. Doing so would've just made things more complicated. She's the only one who actively did something about what was happening to her. Of course, just as many people hate Xion precisely because she does so much, which supposedly takes away the focus on the important characters. Oh well, that's the Kingdom Hearts fanbase for you--no matter what happens, someone bitches about it.
  2. Pandora's Gear is far the strongest Keyblade on Days, well for me... I never heard of Ultima or anything superior on Days besides Oblivion and Oathkeeper. To create Pandora, I need these ingredients, which I cannot find. - Gear Component D; - Premium Orb; I have no idea where to get those. I dunno if it is Heartless who drops it, chest, Day or quest. ____________________________________ There's a boss that is super hard to me on Days. I always had trouble to defeat it. Ruler of Sky is the boss's name, He appears on Mission ' 78 Never Land. - Vanquish the Heartless Threat. ' He flies super fast, carrries skulls and swords. When he hits you, his HP grows, etc... He's too strong to me! I have no idea what Keyblade should I use to beat it, etc... A little help would be good.
  3. Is anyone up for recording a 358/2 Days, Japanese playthrough for us? You will be given an award on your profile and your channel will enjoy increased exposure. No real requirements other than HD 720p and not too many parts.
  4. Kh 358/2 is not playable and only the cutscenes are shown because they had to put there focus on kh3. Nomura said it in a interview if I'm not mistaken
  5. So, I've seen some trailers of 1.5 ReMix and compared some of the scenes with the scenes from Days and... OMG, their voices are SO DIFFERENT! It'll totally kill the moment... Xion's vocie is so wak and emoteless... Roxas is weird, sounding more like Ventus or a bad singer who lost its voice... They used to Pitch and other sound effects on the vocies to fot, but not anymore. I refuse to watch the Days movie with a crappy voice acting. Even Axel's voice is getting lame... what is HAPPENING?! I know that Roxas and Sora's actor are still growing up, but Kairi's voice actress is already an adult! Try to compare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KAWLis7pWvk#at=16 (bad voice) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VjdCEdnLiNk (good voice) What is your opinion about this?
  6. Does watching Axel, Roxas, and Xion eat Sea-Salt Ice Cream make you want some? I know it makes me want some. Lol!
  7. Would anyone be interested in recording a 358/2 Days Japanese or English playthrough for us? We'd like it in HD 720p. And as for how to go about parts, we don't want there to be too many but we also want what's covered in each part to make sense. By doing this you and your channel will experience increased activity (likes, views, subscribers etc.). We'll even give you an award on your profile to show that you helped improve KH13.com's video archive.
  8. For me it would be mickey. he is light and easy to use. YAY MICKEY!! I also love playing as siax, riku, and roxas and xion of course. Who doesn't like duel-weilding roxas!? I mean come on!
  9. Customization. You can physically edit each of your weapons to make it stronger in certain fields and magic actually acts differently at higher levels. Like how Cure heals you, cura heals you over time and Curaga gives off a healing field. I actually found myself using Cura more than Curaga in Days. That's a main concept I'd like to see in future Kingdom Hearts games. And of course the other panels can customize but those are pretty normal abilities for Kingdom Hearts.
  10. This is completely random and most likely irrelevant but it's bugging me. He said who he scouted out for Phil mentioned it would "take him a while to get here" but Phil had met Sora, Ventus, Aqua, and Terra individually. So, who is this mystery person that Hercules scouted? For those of you who haven't played Days in a while, when Roxas was first noticed by Phil he was referred to as the "new trainee that Hercules scouted out." And until the very end, he believes that Roxas is the new scouted out talent, but Hercules says it (obviously) wasn't him.
  11. Even though I haven't played KH3D yet, I think it's pretty safe to say that Days is (by far) my favorite KH game. You get to see what goes on with the "enemy" for once. It gives you a chance to relate with the antagonist. For this game, the bad guy is the good guy. I think that's also why Death Note was such a great anime for me. But in the end, both of them had intentions to help everyone. The organization wasn't really that bad. They just wanted their hearts. Just like with Light, he wanted to rid the world of evil. I may not know everything since I haven't played DDD, but I know enough to know that it wasn't purely evil intentions.
  12. I personally think it's the worst in the series, not that it's a bad thing. I don't think it's terrible, it's just not particullay good. I feel that the gameplay is as good as it ever could be, it works fine and plays fine, just some of design of the bosses and enemies are pretty bad ( Large bodys in Olympus and Leech Grave anyone?) and the levelling up system was really clunky, I feel this was greatly improved in RE: Coded. And now for the story. It seemed a bit too much fan-ficcy for my liking, instead on focusing on the Org as a whole and giving us more context, it introduced Xion as a Mary Sue type character for Roxas, something for him to lose and I felt that was her only purpose and I think the story feels flat because of it. But hey this is my extremely condensed opinion and I do see some good points in the game but it's just not for me. What are your opinions on the game? I'd love to hear them!
  13. Hey everyone, how's it going? Okay, before you point fingers at me and say that I may be too late to realize this, but it's just a curious observation that I had in my sights, and it's something I thought I should share just in case there are people that don't understand. So anyways, when I was playing Days yesterday and when Roxas fell into a deep sleep, Xemnas asked to Saix if they had found the chamber, and Saix said progress is slow, if they had even made any. When I heard this, I immediately thought of Ven. The members that were sent to Castle Oblivion were tasked with trying to bring Sora to their side, but their side mission must have been to try to find the chamber where Ven is sleeping, because they know that Ven would be a vital tool in their plans. But, seeing as how Aqua's the only one who can find him, they failed miserably. Anyways, that's just something that I noticed.
  14. The part where Roxas is wielding the Dual keyblades and taking out the NeoShadows in one hit, is this the result of him being really powerful because he is determined to get Xion? Or a result of the Heartless being weaker, because a friend told me it's the result of the heartless being weaker but I'm not so sure, does anyone know?
  15. Are you guys looking forward to this part of the collection? I sort of have mixed emotions about it. Like I hope it isn't choppily put together. It should flow well
  16. give this a listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpK3h6khT68 In my opinion it's one of the best rendition's of Xion's theme, I've been listening to it for two years now and I just felt like sharing this.
  17. After seeing the rest of KH Days manga, I started to wonder - what if Roxas lost his battle with Saix? What would Organization do with him? They would still need him for collecting hearts, but how if Roxas kept trying to run away? How would the rest of the story end? Roxas's escape plays really big role in Kingdom Hearts. His betrayal of Organization sets the sparkle of important events. I'm actually writing a fanfiction with that theory. Before I finish it and post it here, I wanna hear your thoughts about it. Maybe I can do even more awsome story with your help!
  18. In case you don't know Shard of Truth/Truthkey/Key to Truth is a person known for finding hidden stuffs within the KH games and translating BbS FM. He's the one which discovered the unused Jungle Book world in BbS and has discovered many other things as well. He's most recent discovery is a unused Heartless from KH 358/2 Days. All credits for finding this goes to Shard of Truth. I find his discoveries to be quite interesting and I only wished to share it here.
  19. So I wrote this in a facebook comment and decided I kinda wanna share it here. I wouldn't entirely consider it "spot on", but...well I'll let you guys judge it. The Beauty Of The Illusion Of The Puppet To be honest, it's one thing I've noticed an it's that people's opinion of Xion depends solely on their personalities. For example, a member on the fansite KH13 dislikes Xion and is of the opinion that Xion shouldn't have lied and kept so many secrets from her best friends. And then there's my opinion where I feel that in some cases it's advisable to keep secrets. There's people who dislike her because she was always so depressed and then there's people who like Xion because they feel they can relate to being depressed and confused, like the admin. Now here's the part I like: The above makes it clear that how much you like or dislike Xion depends on the person you are! Where else does that happen? In the game! Saiix is always bitter and so his opinion of and behaviour towards Xion is bitter. Xigbar sees her as Ventus. Xemnas sees her as Sora. Riku and Roxas see her being similar to Kairi. And I'm quite sure Lea is, in a way, connected to Ven so that also connects him to Roxas, which is probably why he sees her the same way Roxas and Riku do. I can conclude with the fact that both, in real life and in the game, people's liking/disliking of Xion depends entirely on past experiences! That is the beauty of the illusion of the puppet.
  20. After my topic expressing my dislike for the game, I recently tried to give it another chance and although the story needs a lot of fine tuning (Good story telling isn't reminding us every 5 seconds that they don't have hearts) This seems more artificial than anything which may be the point of Nobodys but how am I meant to feel for these guys if every 5 minutes they are like WE DON'T HAVE HEARTS WE DON'T HAVE HEARTS. But apart from that, the story isn't that bad, It brings up some key issues and I think I will really enjoy the HD movie to appreciate it more. My problem with the game play is still there, but I may be bitter at the moment considering I'm on Leech Grave, then again I believe Days was the first 3D KH game on a handheld so it may of been hard to tackle this (Or it might of been Coded) Boss designs are very cheap and I think the main focus lies in not the way Roxas controls and plays (I think him and all the Org members play very well) It's the fact that some of the bosses are designed to take a long time to defeat to pad out the game to make it last longer. Speaking of padding I feel this was most apparent in Wonderland, as you have to examine the potion to grow bigger to finish missions, but there would always be a ton of Heartless for you to defeat in order to do so, this padding is unnecessary and I feel it is here only to make missions last longer, and if this is more tedious than fun this is not a good thing. I may sound very critical on Days but after replaying it I definitely enjoy it more then I originally did, I just think it has a lot of flaws which I noticed whilst replaying. Do you guys have any updated opinions on Days? If so let me know! EDIT: I have not made this clear, I AM REPLAYING DAYS at the moment, I've nearly completed it, I'm just giving my updated thoughts thus far, sorry for confusion.
  21. Just a random consideration. When Saix claimed no one would read Roxas's diary, do you think he meant it? It doesn't seem like the Organization would care about privacy, especially when it comes to a central component of their plans. They know Roxas is special, so do you think they actually read his diary in private to gauge his thoughts and progress so they can adapt their plans accordingly? Ask yourself, why would they tell Roxas to keep a diary to begin with? On the surface, it seems a pretty arbitrary thing to make him do. Why would they care for him to put his thoughts down when a thoughtless puppet is better suited for their plans? Maybe they did it because they know Roxas is special--a blank slate, and a direct connection to Sora--so they'd probably want to see his development. A simple way to do that would be through his journal entries. And it's possible the rest of the Organization have their own diaries. Where do the Secret Reports come from? Things like the Ansem Reports are story-related, but what's the nature of the Secret Reports? They all correlate to entries in Roxas's diary, but what are they? Thoughts floating in the ether? Actual documents? Or entries for their own diaries? I can imagine Larxene writing in her diary about how stupid it was to babysit Roxas for that early tutorial mission. The reports don't seem directed towards anyone but themselves, so there's evidence to support the Secret Reports could be their own diaries. In that case, maybe Saix told everyone to keep diaries--which they were told would be private--specifically to spy on their members and see what's up. For all we know, all Saix had to to do confirm Marluxia's eventual betrayal was to sneak a peak at his diary, and send him and the others to Castle Oblivion to get them out of the way. Think about it. Maybe I'm looking too deeply into a mechanic for story recapping purposes, but the Organization being a bunch of voyeurs is something to consider. Seriously, I can just imagine everyone sneaking into Roxas's room, reading his diary, snickering, and sneaking out like they were never there. Xigbar can teleport, if you recall.
  22. The gameplay in my opinion should be given more credit, it was innovative and contained a huge amount of customization, it had tonnes of hours of gameplay and was incredibly loyal to the series in terms of combat, it was linear granted but square did the best they could do with the systems limited capabilities and its replayability made up for it, i would like to know what your highlights of your 358/2 days experience are...
  23. Man I should spend more time in the Information section "Xion's name was coined by Tomoco Kanemaki, one of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days's scenario writers and the writer of the Kingdom Hearts Novels. Tetsuya Nomura took a liking to it and notes that it has many meanings. Xion's name contains the Japanese words for "tide" (潮 shio?), fitting the oceanic naming theme of Kairi and Naminé, and Aster tataricus (紫苑 shion?), which, according to Japanese floriography, means "I won't forget you" or "remembrance". It is also revealed within the Secret Reports that her "original name" was "No.i", her ID as an experiment of the Replica Program. The "i" used here may have been in reference to imaginary numbers. It is also possible that this is a word play on the word ion since this is no.i backwards. This would make sense since an ion is an incomplete particle, much like Xion."
