  1. Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura has tweeted that the next Kingdom Hearts III trailer is planned for release on December 10, 2018! Nomura adds that on December 18, there will be a "final" - possibly referencing a final trailer - and lastly on December 21 a half-minute commercial movie (for theatres) will be revealed. The full translation of the tweet is provided below, which point to this release plan being provisional. *Previously, after the release of the Together trailer, Nomura tweeted that he was working on a separate version for Japan. Translations have been provided by KH13 Staff Mio-chan, Solis, and NihonScribe. The original tweet follows. [UPDATE]: Kingdom Hearts' (worldwide) official Twitter account recently tweeted Nomura's clarification on the trailers' release dates. You can check his message here below: UPDATE (Dec 7, 2018): Kingdom Hearts Director Tetsuya Nomura has tweeted about the times for the next few trailers. 2. D23, the Official Disney Fan Club, have recently published the Winter 2018 issue of their Disney Twenty Three magazine. Therein is a special Kingdom Hearts III feature, including enlightening comments by director Tetsuya Nomura, as well as the Disney and Pixar representatives who have worked with Square Enix on the game! The magazine is exclusive to D23 Gold Members. Fansite Kingdom Hearts Destiny have published the feature in its entirety in French on their website. Thanks to this, we have paraphrased the interesting comments around the production of the new Disney and Pixar worlds in Kingdom Hearts III. You can read them below. Jason Katz, Story Supervisor at Pixar Animation Studios, had never played a Kingdom Hearts game when he was first approached to work with Square Enix on Kingdom Hearts III. It was Tasha Sounart (Associate Creative Director for Disney Theme Parks and now Kingdom Hearts III consultant) who introduced it to him. Katz didn't comprehend the popularity of the series when he first worked on it - this was until he saw the fans' extreme reactions of appreciation at KH3's D23 Expo 2017 presentation. The feature also recalled series director Tetsuya Nomura's comment about how it has been his heartfelt wish for a long time to have Pixar worlds in Kingdom Hearts. Katz said that the collaboration between Square Enix and Pixar went wonderfully and that Square Enix perfectly delivered Pixar's stories. He said that Pixar nudged them in the right direction and guided them where appropriate. Sounart said that Pixar were involved at every stage: scripts; storyboards, scenes, and character design. As the heart of Toy Story is nostalgia, Katz said that they were interested in the Square Enix development team sharing with them the memories of their childhood toys. In regards to the Infinity Badge Keyblade, this was also a collaboration between Pixar and Square Enix to capture the essence of the Toy Story movies. Sounart explained that they really wanted to reflect Buzz and Woody in the design, describing how items like the sheriff badge and rocket form a perfect design. One thing the Pixar team wanted from the beginning was the alien toy as the Keyring. The Pixar team thought meticulously about where the Kingdom Hearts III arc would canonically fit into the Toy Story timeline to ensure continuity. A question they had to answer to fans and to themselves was, "Why didn't any Toy Story characters mention meeting Sora in the movies?" Katz went as far as to have many exchanges where he stressed the importance of the two types of wallpaper you can see in Andy's Room in the series: the cloud wallpaper in his old house in the first movie, and the stars wallpaper in his new room after his family moves into their new home. As Kingdom Hearts III takes place between Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 while Andy is still young (although it was originally meant to take place right after the first movie before that idea was scrapped), Katz said the stars wallpaper in the game was non-negotiable: "It's nerdy, but still very important for us." Pixar is known to include many Easter Eggs in their movies, and Kingdom Hearts III is no exception. Sounart said, "Keep an eye out for the Pizza Planet truck!" In regards to Monsters, Inc., Sounart said that most monsters do not have a nose, so Sora in his monster design doesn't either. Sully is one of the few monsters to have a nose. There were many other details to consider, such as how would Sora, Donald, and Goofy's clothes be incorporated into the world. Their final designs was another perfect amalgamation between Kingdom Hearts and Monsters, Inc.. Unlike Toy Box with Galaxy Toys, the Kingdom Hearts III world of Monstropolis showcases a location from the movies, the Monsters, Inc. factory. Katz pointed out that in the movies, we really only see the scare floor, the door vault, and the main entrance. In Kingdom Hearts III, there will be an opportunity to see what the basement and the are behind where they store the doors look like, along with visiting the sets shown in the film. Peter Del Vecho, producer of Frozen, said that due to the movie's popularity and huge fanbase, it was only natural for it to meet Kingdom Hearts. Del Vecho said that Square Enix did not only want to make a great game, but they also wanted to make Disney proud. Square Enix was determined to adapt the Disney phenomenon that is Frozen into a Kingdom Hearts world from the very beginning. Del Vecho was impressed in their desire to get fully immersed in the process with overseeing animation, layout, and even some camera movements. Del Vecho's team was amazed at how closely they matched the animation. Del Vecho said that there are many Frozen fans that wanted to continue the adventure in the movies, and now they will have the opportunity to take it home with them. As Elsa interacts with Kingdom Hearts III characters that were not in the movie, Del Vecho would like fans to thus take part in a new storyline by playing Kingdom Hearts III. Katz said that the more he lives the world of Kingdom Hearts, the more he appreciates how fans have welcomed its characters. Because of this, he feels lucky to be able to create art for a living (and bring Kingdom Hearts III's art to life). He finds it incredible that he got to play a small role in a series that so many people have been playing their whole life. A similar feeling about Kingdom Hearts' longevity is shared by Nomura himself, who commented, "I do feel the love towards Kingdom Hearts from all the fans. But I also feel with the passing of time that there are more team members were fans of Kingdom Hearts even before joining the team. It is wonderful to know that we have people on the production side that love the series, as well." The feature concludes by remarking that as Kingdom Hearts' fan base is so important that even the creators are fans, it must be something special, and that, ultimately, that is the same message shared by the Disney stories; Nomura agrees, "I see a kindness in those Disney stories that resonates with everyone. " You can read more statements made by Tasha Sounart and Jason Katz on working on Kingdom Hearts III here. UPDATE [Dec 3, 2018]: Fan Edward Munoz has kindly provided us with scans from the whole Kingdom Hearts III feature in the magazine! You can read the scans in the album below. View full article

  11. Hey everyone. So, after all the excitement of seeing those new trailers and that wondrous box art by Nomura himself, I decided to give another go at creating a concept of the Kingdom Hearts III title screen. I did do one awhile back that basically tried to replicate the style of title screen seen in KH 0.2, however after some more artwork came out fro TGS I decided to see if I could make one with illustrated art and well here are the results: https://youtu.be/oRlSQdidplA

  15. So after reading the Kingdom Hearts 3 Premiere Event Recap, something Nomura said surprised me. When asked about the tone for KH3, specifically relating to its ending, he said this. "If you have been playing Kingdom Hearts Union χ[cross] on your mobile platform, you would know that we have foreshadowed that light will be defeated by darkness. So you may see what happens with that being foreshadowed. I actually do believe it may have some kind of a "difficult ending" that you may find a bit difficult to grasp. It depends on whether or not everyone can go against all odds and overcome what's being foretold." From what he's saying here, is he hinting that Light will indeed fall into Darkness, as Xehanort has been wanting all this time? Could it be that, at the end, Sora does succeed in defeating Xehanort, but in the end, ends up losing all the worlds to darkness? That's the feeling I'm getting from his comments. What do y'all think?

  20. So I have been thinking alot about the Rapunzel world lately and I think I know exactly how the story In this world will happen. If I am right you can send me a cookie in a year (hopefully just a year) so here it goes, we start the level by arriving at rapunzels tower not knowing were they are Sora and his friends decide to look inside the tower, there we find mother Gothel how just has found out that rapunzel is gone. Being mother gothel she tells us "oh Pleaaaassse help me my dearest daughter is gone help me! I am just a poor loving mother" our heros than go into the woods and follow rapunzel long hair that is like a red...well yellow line. After fighting countless heartless we find Rapunzel and Eugene. Rapunzel tells us about her dream, hearing how important it is for her to see the floating lights the gang tells her that they will help her to get to the city and protect her from the heartless. Eugene could than become a Party member as I have no clue how they would pull off Rapunzel. We than would also see some of mother gothels attemps to stop us by using the heartless. while we travel with her she tells us about her live inside the tower and sora begins to questions mother gothels true motives. They arrive in the city and than have to defend it from more attacking heartless. When the it begins to get dark the three decide to leave eugene and Rapunzel alone and watch the lights somewhere else. Than mother gothel kidnaps Rapunzel and ties eugene to the boat. The next morning we help him get out of Prison, he tells us that he is a thieve and stole the crown. We than go and save rapunzel and the level ends with mother gothel as the endboss atleast I hope we can fight her personaly instead of fighting some heartless and than see her die in a cutscene because this woman evil incarnate and I want the satisfaction to punch her in the face! Than Sora and his friends leave having learned a very important lesson not everyone who is close to you has good intentions, evil can wear a mask (which ties into the whole Xehanort birth by sleep story) so what do you think? Could this be The exact Plot of this level? Will we look back on this thread when KH3 comes out and be amazed how accurate it is? Let me hear it.
  21. I understand time travel in Dream Drop Distance for the most part, but there's always been this one thing that I don't really understand. in the game, we are told that the Robed Figure passed on the ability to time travel to Young Xehanort, so that Young Xehanort doesn't have to get rid of his body or something like that. I was confused as to how you can just simply "give" someone the ability to time travel, so I looked into it. I found a Nomura interview where he says this: "to transcend time one must ‘first’ discard their form. As a result of the actions of the Brown Robed Figure, they all were in a state where they had gained the power to transcend time. The Brown Robed Figure explains the facts. The thirteen were summoned at the same time, this time thanks to Young Xehanort who borrowed that power." What does this mean exactly? Am I the only one who has no idea what he's saying here? Could it be the translation that's making it more confusing that it actually is, because I'm not sure what he's trying to say? It seems like he's saying that they all gained the ability to time travel because the Robed Figure was Xehanort reduced to just a heart, but how does that make it so they all have the ability to time travel? Sora and Riku have both been reduced to just a heart before, but they can't just randomly time travel as they please, they need Yen Sid's magic in order to time travel. I thought that you actually need to be a heart while you're time travelling, because that's what Yen Sid said, but Nomura's making it sound like all you need to do in order to be able to time travel is you have to have been just a heart once in your lifetime. That seems way too OP. Plus, it completely contradicts what Yen Sid said. Since this is the case, it makes me believe that's not really what Nomura's saying here, so is there any other way to interpret what he's saying? EDIT: After doing some more digging, I found this in the KH Ultimania: "Discarded his body and became able to travel through time. Traveled back in time to the Destiny Islands and gave Young Xehanort some of his own power. Due to discarding his body and becoming the Robed Figure, all incarnations of Xehanort gained the ability to travel through time. However, the only ones actually able to do so were the Robed Figure and the one he had given his power to, Young Xehanort." I guess it sort of works like how Keyblades work. Just because you have the ability to wield a Keyblade, doesn't mean you have a Keyblade/doesn't mean you know how to summon a Keyblade.. Similarly, just because you have the ability to time travel, doesn't mean you can time travel/doesn't mean you know how to time travel. And what the game really meant by "the Robed Figure gave Young Xehanort the ability to travel through time" is "the Robed Figure shared some of his powers with Young Xehanort". So, it all makes sense...I guess? It "makes sense" in a very Kingdom Heartsy kind of way lol EDIT: Just found this interview with Nomura. What he says he throws me back into confusion: "Nomura: First off, when Young Xehanort made contact with the Brown Robed Figure, that is to say, the Xehanort who called himself Ansem, his abilities were transferred to him. As a result of Master Xehanort tossing his physical body, he was able to exceed time, and this power was carried into the Brown Robed Figure. Thus when Young Xehanort made contact with him, he gained this power. Possessing this power. Young Xehanort functioned as a “portal”, summoning Xemnas and Ansem each time they appeared. That’s why Young Xehanort was there whenever they appeared. Additionally, when Sora and Riku dropped into the worlds of sleep, simultaneously Young Xehanort himself goes into the world of sleep.' I have no idea what Nomura is saying at this point. I really really really hope this gets cleared up in KH3.
