  1. Just watched the Wild Robot yesterday and it was such an amazing film! Made me think if Kingdom Hearts wasn't owned by Disney, a world based on the movie would be really cool with Rozz and Fink being in the party, or just a summon of Rozz would be cool too. What do you all think and also what design of the key blade would look like and the name of it too? I'm thinking of some ideas. This discussion was probably already been opened up but seeing the movie made me think lol. What movies would everyone like to see in Kingdom Hearts? It can be either Disney or non-Disney, who would be in Sora's party and what would the keyblades of those movies would look like and be named?

  3. Which recent Disney or Pixar film do you want to see become a world in Kingdom Hearts?
  4. Do you think we might see other Pixar villains/antagonists in possible future games in the Kingdom Hearts series, besides only just Randall from Monstropolis in Kingdom Hearts III? Well that's the question, Pixar has had several different villains/antagonists from their 23 films so far, but it will depend on Square Enix and especially the crew/team at Pixar on what role the antagonists from the Pixar films will play in the original story exclusive to KH, and whether or not that specific Pixar antagonist would fit within the original story or simply not add them in at all. When compared to the Disney villains (e.g. Maleficent, Pete, Hades, Jafar, Oogie Boogie, Ursula, Scar, etc.) and the original Kingdom Hearts villains (e.g. Xehanort, Ansem Seeker of Darkness, Xemnas, Vanitas, Braig/Xigbar/Luxu, Organization XIII), the Pixar Villains aren't really threatening and they don't pose the same level of malevolence as other villains they can utilize. On top of that, Pixar isn't known for their villains in the first place, as the main conflict in each film is the protagonist's internal/external struggles they face in the film (e.g. Woody's jealousy of Buzz Lightyear in the first Toy Story, Marlin's external struggles on finding his son Nemo, Joy's intrapersonal conflict on not allowing Sadness to touch the Memory orbs, Merida wanting to be independent, etc.) with the antagonists only serving as a foil (e.g. Chef Skinner) or an obstacle (e.g. Terry) to the protagonist. Of course, Pixar does have its well-known villains such as Sid, Hopper, Stinky Pete, Randall, Syndrome, Lotso, and recently Ernesto de la Cruz, but at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter in that front for inclusions or not, I know people really wanted Zurg for Toy Box, but sadly he wasn't represented because he's just a minor character in Toy Story 2. In Randall's case for Monstropolis in Kingdom Hearts III, he was just brought back by Vanitas as a "pawn" so he can collect Negative emotions (Screams) for the Unversed and for Vanitas. Plus, he was just "there" to be kind of antagonizing the situation to Sora and the gang, which would likely explain Pixar being very restrictive on Monstropolis and why we never got to fight Randall as a boss (let alone a mid-boss) in Kingdom Hearts III, which I'm not surprised so I don't blame Pixar's decision on not allowing us to battle him as a boss when compared to Nomura and his team's decision on not making CLU and Gaston bosses in Dream Drop Distance and X respectively. Regarding Ernesto De la Cruz for a potential Coco world, depending if Nomura and his team would retell the events of the movie or have it be an original story (a sequel or a prequel to the film) at Pixar's request, if they have the plot of the world be a prequel to the film it wouldn't make sense for Sora, Riku and/or Kairi (whoever is going to visit the world) to encounter him and know about his true nature that he murdered Héctor and stole his music and songs (cause that goes to Miguel who figures it out himself once he finds out about Ernesto's true nature in the Land of the Dead in the original movie) or literally have him go the same route like what Randall went to in Kingdom Hearts III where he's just antagonizing the situation, although to be honest, I feel Ernesto wouldn't be much of a boss as he literally isn't much of a fighter when compared to Randall. I think the likely route for Ernesto is have the Coco world be a prequel to the film and have him be just indirectly mentioned, or have a small cameo in one to two scenes in the world, cause he does a Sunrise Spectacular at the end of Dia de Los Muertos, but only to have his concert be briefly interrupted by a Giant Nightmare Dream Eater or a Heartless. For The Incredibles, just like with San Fransokyo (Big Hero 6), given that they have the superhero aspect they can put any random threat in the world (e.g. Underminer, Heartless, the OC Villain (Xigbar/Luxu, MoM, one of the Foretellers), etc.), since its most likely going to take place after the events of the 2nd film given that Evelyn Deavor was arrested. Speaking of which, I also wouldn't get my hopes up on battling Syndrome due to his demise in the first film which will disappoint certain players that wanted to battle him in the Kingdom Hearts series only to have their hopes crushed he's not in the game, so that's that, even the same can be said for Hopper (A Bug's Life) due to his demise from his own film. As for Terry from Pixar's Soul, when compared to the other Pixar antagonists, she's more of an "obstacle" than a full fledged villain as her job is counting the number of souls that enter the Great Beyond and dislikes whenever the "count is off" or a soul is missing, so more than likely if we wound up getting a world based on the film she's going to give pursuit to Sora and the gang and be an obstacle much like how she tried to find the soul of Joe Gardner in the film, instead of having her as an actual boss or go through what Randall went through in KH3. Personally, I'm okay with having more original KH centric stories for the Pixar worlds, but if they do have the Pixar villain/antagonist appear and be involved in the original story, I don't want Pixar to continuously be very restrictive like what they did with Randall in the Monster's Inc. world back in KH3. But what do you guys think do you want some Pixar antagonists in a future KH game or just only leave Randall as the ONLY Pixar Villain/antagonist in the series?
  5. I want to create a discussion on which Disney Worlds we may expect to see in the Realm of thhe "Unreality" for the next Kingdom Hearts game after Melody of Memory. As of the Game, Melody of Memory Ansem the Wise mentioned that there are three realms in their realm that they can travel to where many of the KH worlds are explored throughout the series: The Realm of Light (where the majority of the Disney worlds and original worlds like Destiny Islands and Radiant Garden reside) The Realm of Darkness (Where the Realm of Darkness and where worlds that were destroyed by the Heartless end up in) The Realms Between (Where Twilight Town, Traverse Town, Land of Departure/Castle Oblivion and The Mysterious Tower reside) He also mentions the worlds of: Memories Dreams/The Realm of Sleep (Where many of the Disney Worlds that didn't return to the Realm of Light following Ansem Seeker of Darkness' defeat from Sora in the first game appear and also the Final World) Data/Datascapes (Consists of Data worlds from Jiminy Journal or the Book of Prophecies, The Tron worlds (Space Paranoids and the Grid) and Game Central Station (Wreck-It Ralph from Union χ) The Other Side/"Unreality" (The City of Quadratum) - The realm outside of their own reality The world of Game Central Station is one of the obvious Disney worlds to appear in the world of Quadratum (Unreality) likely retelling the events of Ralph Breaks the Internet given that the first film was already covered in Union χ. As of now, were not exactly sure what's going to be the main setting for world exploration in the next KH game it could be the "Unreality" (that Riku is going in), the Realm of Sleep from Dream Drop Distance or the Realm of Light (as Kairi is doing her Mark of Mastery training with Aqua). Other than Wreck-It Ralph, I also could see The Pixar worlds of Coco and Soul along with possibly Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the worlds based on the live-action remakes/reimaginings (e.g. Alice in Wonderland 2010, Maleficent, Mulan 2019, etc.) being possible Disney worlds found in "Unreality" for the next game, it just comes down to how Nomura and his team decide on which Disney and Pixar films they would choose as worlds for the next game, the environment the world can offer and how the world based on the film fits in the game in terms of story and themes cause they like to cherry pick certain Disney worlds. But what do you guys think?

  8. D23, the Official Disney Fan Club, have recently published the Winter 2018 issue of their Disney Twenty Three magazine. Therein is a special Kingdom Hearts III feature, including enlightening comments by director Tetsuya Nomura, as well as the Disney and Pixar representatives who have worked with Square Enix on the game! The magazine is exclusive to D23 Gold Members. Fansite Kingdom Hearts Destiny have published the feature in its entirety in French on their website. Thanks to this, we have paraphrased the interesting comments around the production of the new Disney and Pixar worlds in Kingdom Hearts III. You can read them below. Jason Katz, Story Supervisor at Pixar Animation Studios, had never played a Kingdom Hearts game when he was first approached to work with Square Enix on Kingdom Hearts III. It was Tasha Sounart (Associate Creative Director for Disney Theme Parks and now Kingdom Hearts III consultant) who introduced it to him. Katz didn't comprehend the popularity of the series when he first worked on it - this was until he saw the fans' extreme reactions of appreciation at KH3's D23 Expo 2017 presentation. The feature also recalled series director Tetsuya Nomura's comment about how it has been his heartfelt wish for a long time to have Pixar worlds in Kingdom Hearts. Katz said that the collaboration between Square Enix and Pixar went wonderfully and that Square Enix perfectly delivered Pixar's stories. He said that Pixar nudged them in the right direction and guided them where appropriate. Sounart said that Pixar were involved at every stage: scripts; storyboards, scenes, and character design. As the heart of Toy Story is nostalgia, Katz said that they were interested in the Square Enix development team sharing with them the memories of their childhood toys. In regards to the Infinity Badge Keyblade, this was also a collaboration between Pixar and Square Enix to capture the essence of the Toy Story movies. Sounart explained that they really wanted to reflect Buzz and Woody in the design, describing how items like the sheriff badge and rocket form a perfect design. One thing the Pixar team wanted from the beginning was the alien toy as the Keyring. The Pixar team thought meticulously about where the Kingdom Hearts III arc would canonically fit into the Toy Story timeline to ensure continuity. A question they had to answer to fans and to themselves was, "Why didn't any Toy Story characters mention meeting Sora in the movies?" Katz went as far as to have many exchanges where he stressed the importance of the two types of wallpaper you can see in Andy's Room in the series: the cloud wallpaper in his old house in the first movie, and the stars wallpaper in his new room after his family moves into their new home. As Kingdom Hearts III takes place between Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 while Andy is still young (although it was originally meant to take place right after the first movie before that idea was scrapped), Katz said the stars wallpaper in the game was non-negotiable: "It's nerdy, but still very important for us." Pixar is known to include many Easter Eggs in their movies, and Kingdom Hearts III is no exception. Sounart said, "Keep an eye out for the Pizza Planet truck!" In regards to Monsters, Inc., Sounart said that most monsters do not have a nose, so Sora in his monster design doesn't either. Sully is one of the few monsters to have a nose. There were many other details to consider, such as how would Sora, Donald, and Goofy's clothes be incorporated into the world. Their final designs was another perfect amalgamation between Kingdom Hearts and Monsters, Inc.. Unlike Toy Box with Galaxy Toys, the Kingdom Hearts III world of Monstropolis showcases a location from the movies, the Monsters, Inc. factory. Katz pointed out that in the movies, we really only see the scare floor, the door vault, and the main entrance. In Kingdom Hearts III, there will be an opportunity to see what the basement and the are behind where they store the doors look like, along with visiting the sets shown in the film. Peter Del Vecho, producer of Frozen, said that due to the movie's popularity and huge fanbase, it was only natural for it to meet Kingdom Hearts. Del Vecho said that Square Enix did not only want to make a great game, but they also wanted to make Disney proud. Square Enix was determined to adapt the Disney phenomenon that is Frozen into a Kingdom Hearts world from the very beginning. Del Vecho was impressed in their desire to get fully immersed in the process with overseeing animation, layout, and even some camera movements. Del Vecho's team was amazed at how closely they matched the animation. Del Vecho said that there are many Frozen fans that wanted to continue the adventure in the movies, and now they will have the opportunity to take it home with them. As Elsa interacts with Kingdom Hearts III characters that were not in the movie, Del Vecho would like fans to thus take part in a new storyline by playing Kingdom Hearts III. Katz said that the more he lives the world of Kingdom Hearts, the more he appreciates how fans have welcomed its characters. Because of this, he feels lucky to be able to create art for a living (and bring Kingdom Hearts III's art to life). He finds it incredible that he got to play a small role in a series that so many people have been playing their whole life. A similar feeling about Kingdom Hearts' longevity is shared by Nomura himself, who commented, "I do feel the love towards Kingdom Hearts from all the fans.   11. Hey everyone how's it going, so not too long ago we received two KH3 trailers and one of them just happened to be the official reveal of Monsters Inc. as a world in Kingdom Hearts 3. While the trailer was very good, the only problem was that it wasn't in english, so I've went ahead and created an english version of the trailer. However, unlike the one that someone else on Youtube made for the Toy Story one, which they recorded themselves, this one uses lines from other games and films in order to sound more accurate. Keep in mind that english here is only meant to give an impression of what an english trailer may sound like and isn't actually attempting to match the dialog seen in the subtitles.   13. What other Pixar world would you like to see in Kingdom Hearts III?
  14. So I'm going to assume if you're reading this you've seen the new KH3 trailer(If you haven't go do that now). So we now know that Pixar worlds can be in future Kingdom Hearts installments! It's definitely going to be fun exploring some classic worlds, however there's another benefit you might not know of. In the future, environments from Pixar movies could be taken and put straight into Kingdom Hearts! How would this possible? Pixar is a leader in technology for the animation industry, and one new piece of technology they've developed is Universal Scene Description. So what is USD? It's an open source file format for moving scenes between different 3D programs, since right now every program has its own format on how data is stored. So how does this relate to Kingdom Hearts? KH3 is being developed with Unreal Engine 4, and back in May Epic Games revealed that they are working on USD support for Unreal Engine. As a demo at GDC they showed off a scene from Finding Dory running in real time in Unreal 4. https://youtu.be/K6tRt7c2elU?t=1h8m25s So in the future it's possible we could play KH worlds with environments ripped straight out of the movies! Obviously these would have to be changed a bit to suit gameplay and such, however the potential still has me excited , regardless of how far off KH4 or whatever comes next is.

As Kingdom Hearts fans, we're all excited for D23 because of the new trailer that's going to drop, however, I feel as though we should we should have a discussion about the upcoming announcements from Disney Animation and Pixar, because that's always my highlight for D23. I did this topic in 2015, and I'll do it today. So without further ado, here's what to expect for Disney Animation and Pixar. Disney Animation Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 (2018) Frozen 2 (2019) Gigantic (2020) Pixar Coco (2017) The Incredibles 2 (2018) Toy Story 4 (TBC) Og course, there's surprises, and some movies may have a date change (I swear to god if Gigantic gets delayed further...), but here's the overall lineup. What are thoughts, and what are you excited for?

Now that he is gone, and there is the possibility of Square-Enix including Disney-Pixar's "'Toy Story (1995)'" in "'KINGDOM HEARTS III'",.... ...Would it feel the same without him? I honestly do not know. What do you think?
  17. How excited are you for Cars 3? Never been a huge fan of the Cars franchise, but whoa. Looks like it'll be taking a much more serious route than I thought. Should be interesting! I wonder if the story will be a "recovery" story about McQueen getting over his injuries... Might open up some interesting topics of discussion for animated films!

I know that this is an old news post, however, I feel as though it still has relevance. Firstly, the 2.9 game turned out to be 2.8 (containing Dream Drop Distance HD, 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage and X Back Cover), but more importantly, there's a lot of things to understand with regards to how Kingdom Hearts III is forming. First off, it seems as though that Square Enix are communicating far more frequently with Disney with regards to Kingdom Hearts III (and rightly so seeing as it is a mainline game). This goes to show that the promotion and publicity is a joint effort with Square Enix and Disney with regards to Kingdom Hearts III. 2.8 on the other hand isn't as scheduled and corporately monitored by Disney (as most of the elements of that game is original content with no new Disney properties introduced). Secondly, I'd like to point out the phrase "In-game dialogue writing". A lot of people assumed that those were either grunts or cut scenes, but now that we know that Aqua is able to talk during game play in 0.2, I feel as though that's what in game dialogue is referring too. There was also the question of NPC's in a world. I have a good feeling that we will finally have NPC interaction as X Back Cover showed a crowd of player characters in a cut scene. That's not my strongest point to prove NPC interaction for Kingdom Hearts III, sure, but it ties in with the "in game dialogue" possibilities, for example, Sora talking to a citizen in San Fransokyo. Finally, and here's the big kicker. Pixar. Now, for people who don't know what does on with Disney behind the scenes of their animated movies, During 2006, Disney CEO Bob Iger bought Pixar to be a Disney subsidiary, and as a result, Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter was the creative boss of Disney Animation (the Disney studio that has the movies featured in Kingdom Hearts). So, when it comes to Disney Animation movies from 2008 onwards (starting from Bolt), it's inevitable that Square Enix would have to contact this head honcho. Through sweet talk and mutual appreciation of each others work, Nomura could have convinced Disney to add Pixar in Kingdom Hearts III. So, what's everyone's thoughts on the conclusions that I've made?

  20. Is there anything in The Art of The Good Dinosaur Book, or any other The Good Dinosaur related book for that matter that would have detailed anything related to Bob Peterson's original version? And if so, could anyone please share that information here? I have been collecting any info that I can find concerning this original version and have already collected quite a few pieces of concept art and other information revealed through toys. I also have some info from the Art of Book, which also depicts a young yellow parasaurolophus alongside the other dinosaurs revealed in the article. I name her Lucy because she has no official name, and it seems to fit the same kind of names that the other three (four counting Vivian, another young ankylosaurus that you can get as a toy that comes with a little critter, look her up) cut dinsoaurs.   22. Tetsuya Nomura "Of course, Disney Interactive and Square Enix [are the] publisher. They’re combining their forces to bring Kingdom Hearts. So, the other associated companies under Disney [are] not something that is as simple as us consulting with Disney Interactive. So, unfortunately, the lineup is kind of considered as different". With the possibilities of all the different Disney worlds that could appear in Kingdom Hearts 3, this statement satisfies and scare me at the same damn time. Why you wonder? simple, one word, Pixar. Of course, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar are under the Walt Disney umbrella way before Marvel and Star Wars, however, Pixar has been expressed to be its own separate studio with no direct association with Walt Disney Animation Studio. They do not help each other at all whatsoever with their respective movies. This was agreed upon to distinguish both of these different studios in Disney. Now, it is not all doom and gloom, and you know why? one person: John Lasseter. Now you're wondering, what's so special about him? Oh, for people who do not know, you're going to be surprised... John Lasseter is the animation boss for Pixar when it first started and became the animation boss for Walt Disney Animation Studios after Disney outright purchased Pixar. Okay, that may not be much but let me tell you his legacy: he is the director and creator of Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and A Bugs Life. Now, away from the tangent and back to the main topic at hand, in layman terms... Pixar will be accepted in Kingdom Hearts 3 if John Lasseter accepts Pixar properties in Kingdom Hearts 3. So, do you think that John Lasseter sees the magic of Pixar in kingdom Hearts 3 and allows Square Enix and Disney to implement it?
