  1. The recent 1.04 and 1.05 updates for Kingdom Hearts III have brought changes to the game, such as changes in enemy AI, increased album storage to 200 photos, Frozen's Slider mini-game prizes appearing on the Gummiphone, check marks on synthesized items, and some bugs fixed. But the most important update was the addition of the Critical Mode, the highest level of difficulty known in the series. Tai Yasue, the co-director of Kingdom Hearts III, has recently been interviewed in-house at Square Enix about the new Critical Mode update for the game. He talks about what has been changed in the highest difficulty mode now available for Kingdom Hearts III, what new things have been added, and has given his top tips to survive the Mode as well as how to challenge yourself to the fullest. Give it a read below! As Yasue mentioned, in this new Critical mode, Sora's maximum HP and MP are halved. In addition to this, the frequency of situation commands and magic is also lowered. The new abilities that Sora can perform are the following: Critical Converter (1 AP) — “Green attraction indicators no longer appear, but filling the gauge always produces a formchange command. Indicators may still appear for certain battles.” Critical Counter (5 AP) — “Deal extra damage with reprisals by blocking right before an enemy attack lands.” Critical Recharge (3 AP) — “Fill situation command gauges more quickly while recharging MP.” Keyblades that are carried over will return to their base strength, but through this optional feature, players can utilize Keyblades otherwise not obtained until later in the game from the beginning. Another change that have been brought by the new updates is the addition of the Proof of Promise and the Proof of Times Past in the inventory." The Proof of Promise is described as “a certificate for those who have collected all of the luck from worlds over.” You can earn it by collecting photos of all 90 Lucky Emblems. The Proof of Times Past is described as “a certificate awarded to those who have endured the most difficult trial of them all," which you can earn when clearing the game on Critical Mode. 3. It has just been announced by the official Kingdom Hearts Facebook and Twitter accounts that Kingdom Hearts III's Critical Mode will be released tomorrow, April 23rd, as a free update! Tetsuya Nomura's message is as follows: In the official Japanese Twitter for the game series, Nomura specifies that the update will be released on April 24th in Japan (JST). You can read the translation by Goldpanner below. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: The Square Enix website has been updated with technical information concerning two upcoming Kingdom Hearts III updates, Update 1.04 and 1.05, and has stated the time of release as 11 AM JST on April 24th (7PM PST on April 23rd), although it seems that 1.05 will be downloadable at a slightly later time. Update 1.04 will contain the Critical Mode updates and some more changes as detailed below; Update 1.05 will implement changes such as carrying over Keyblade from previous game clear data on starting a new game, and increasing the Gummiphone's photo capacity to 200. Read the details below for more information. The Critical Mode is the hardest difficulty for Kingdom Hearts games offered to only a select number of games in the series. This difficulty for Kingdom Hearts III was first announced by co-director Tai Yasue at the 2019 Game Developers Conference last month. Yasue stated that Critical Mode in Kingdom Hearts III would be more than just a value change, referring to the HP, MP, and damage output of Sora, his allies, and the game's various enemies. He also said that Critical Mode is "more technical and offensive," and will be geared toward those who are "good at action games" and at "timing their attacks". He stated that the skill required will change the way that players will play the game. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: According to the website Automaton Media's sources, Critical Mode will include halved HP and MP values, reduced Situation Command and Grand Magic frequency, and new Critical Mode-exclusive abilities. In addition, more abilities will be available at the start of the game, and players with a completed save file will be able to carry existing items and Keyblade upgrades into a new save file, in a fashion similar to a "New Game Plus" feature. UPDATE [Apr 23, 2019]: Square Enix have confirmed that Update 1.04 will release in the West at the same time as in Japan! It will release on April 23 AT 7 PM PT/10 PM ET, and on April 24 at 2 AM UTC. The Critical Mode was recently featured in a 13 minute video on the official Square Enix Japanese YouTube channel. Check it out below.

  5. Hey guys, Cloudmighty here! Today guys I finally completed the second version of a complete level 1 encounter guide for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 (PS4). This guide covers every encounter from every world (including bonus visits such as Space Paranoids 2, Pride Lands 1&2, Olympus Coliseum etc.) But doesn't include optional bosses such as Sephiroth, Data Org or Lingering Will. Optional bosses will be included in a separate playlist, if people want it and assuming this walkthrough is well received! This guide is designed to be for people who have already played through the game but would like to perhaps challenge themselves with a level 1 play through. Each video covers both bosses and any forced encounter you come across during a standard play through. Each strategy is designed to be relatively easy to follow whilst also being efficient, some fights also include an optional 'hard-mode' strategy if you want to challenge yourself further still! I have thoroughly enjoyed this as a personal challenge and hope to help at least one person out there that might be struggling at some point during their level 1 play through. I had previously done this a couple of years ago for the PS3 version of the game. Since that time of course strategies have improved so I am now hoping that this guide is definitive. Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you have any questions or suggestions, send me a message, I am always willing to chat! tl;dr This is a level 1 encounter walkthrough for KH2.5
  6. Hey guys, Cloudmighty here! It's done! The entire walkthrough has now been completed! 100s of hours (most of those hours were me failing - terribly) of work and practice! If this only helps one person, it was worth all the effort. If you have any questions about anything, ask here or in the YouTube comments, I will be happy to answer! Here is the playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXDIYgb3uSgalI3eyTgc5NV-wEMLMeKvH Thank you!
  7. Hey Guys! After a lot of practice and .... a lot of failing I managed to get this done finally!!! This is a video showcase of the Sephiroth fight at Level 1, with just the Kingdom Key and no armor or accessories. Trying to do this without damage taken is so damn hard. Especially since he can teleport next to you and give you literally no time to react! Do be warned! There is some PG18+ language used in this video! Let me know what you think
  8. Last night I had finally completed my Critical Mode level 1 playthrough for KH2FM in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX!!I was so happy when I defeated Final Xemnas in the end! It's quite a lot of difficulty playing on Critical Mode and not leveling up at all but I managed in the end after a lot of raging and stuff It makes me kind of want to do the same for other KH games but part of me is too scared because I'm so attached to Kingdom Hearts II and it's like my no.1 favorite since I had it on PS2 a long time ago :3There's still more for me to do in my Critical LVL 1 playthrough like completing the Cavern of Remembrance and defeating Terra and many other things
  9. [Mild spoilers for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep - Final Mix] This holiday I picked up a preowned PS3, KH 1.5 and 2.5, and Final Fantasy X/X-2 with some money I received. I played KH2 on normal and beat it, and then started BBS and decided I wanted a challenge. So I started it on critical as Ven. It was not particularly hard or easy, it seemed to be a good balance of both. I mean I grinded a lot and got about 10-20 levels higher than the world's level. But then I got to the second to last Vanitas boss fight. Dear Lord, I kept on getting floored and losing thirty seconds into the fight. Eventually by some stroke of luck I was able to defeat him, and then I started the last boss fight. I take back that last fight being hard, that was a piece of cake compared to this fight. My last attempt was January. I would have completed it by now, but I have been at college. So studies come first. But finals are next week. So you can bet that I am going to finish this game soon. So that was my first critical playthrough experience of a Kingdom Hearts game. What was yours?
