  1. People often ask why Kingdom Hearts uses terms like "hurt" instead of "pain" or "unreality" instead of "alternate dimension." Or why they use the terms "light" and "darkness" so much. The in-universe explanation for this is that the Kingdom Hearts World works very differently than our universe and has its own set of labels and rules for many things. The real world meta explanation for this though is that Tetsuya Nomura seems to like Kingdom Hearts to sort of establish its own labels and rules for things. And there's a reason why. For example, they're now calling the other side of the World that Yozora comes from "unreality" and "fiction" rather than just saying its another dimension or something. Getting used to these terms and the way they're used can be odd and jarring at times, however that's kind of the point as these unique terms sort of make you think and wonder more about these concepts. Something more mainstream such as Marvel uses more common terms such as other "dimensions" and the "multiverse" to bring characters and worlds together that usually wouldn't make much sense to bring together to make it make more sense and easy to understand for the audience so they can just focus on the characters and worlds that are being brought together instead of focusing on how weird and incomprehensible the concepts of other realities and universes really are. Kingdom Hearts likes to use words such as "unreality" and "fictional worlds" to put more focus on what these concepts actually mean and how weird and incomprehensible these concepts truly are. Instead of shying away from how philosophically weird and trippy some concepts are in order to make things easier for the audience to understand, Kingdom Hearts fully leans into it. So, if they were to just use the term "pain" instead of "hurt," you would think you understand what they're talking about completely and not take a closer look at the concept being talked about, while using the term "hurt" makes you take a closer look and examine what the concept of pain/hurt truly means and makes you wonder if you even do understand what it really means. There are concepts in life that we take for granted and think we know what they truly mean just because we've heard the words and the definitions of the words our entire lives, so we don't really take the moment to really think about it philosophically. If they used the word "pain" it would've just become another sentence that passes by and gets replaced by the next sentence without you taking a deeper look into what's being said. I remember as a young kid playing Kingdom Hearts and some of these odd terms would really make me think more about the underlying philosophy and existentialism of it all rather than just focusing on the more generic aspects that overlie it all. People often make fun of Kingdom Hearts for these odd terms and how often some terms like light or darkness are used, but I really do think there's a point to it. The way these terms are used might seem silly in a conventional way, but Kingdom Hearts has never been about thinking conventionally and has always been about establishing and following its own rules. The stuff with Yozora and Quadratum has made me the most interested in the series' future than I have been in a while. The mystique and intrigue of it is on par with after I saw KH1's secret ending for the first time. It's got the same vibes of what got me so hooked on the series so much as a young kid in the first place. It even brings back the same KH1 opening quote, bringing it back to the roots of what made the series so interesting and stand out. The theme of existential confusion that underlies the whole series. "I've been having these weird thoughts lately, like is any of this for real, or not?" "None of this... makes sense to me." Nomura has even said that the KH1 opening quote is what got KH approved in the first place. Q9: What can you say about the secret boss & episode? Nomura: "The secrets contain my thoughts about the future of the series, but with the information out at present I don't think you'll be able to guess any of it. Some parts of the battle ended up very different from what I requested. But it surprised me in a good way, so take it as it is." Q10: Why did lines from KH1 appear in the final trailer? Nomura: "Those were lines I'd long wanted to put together if I ever got the chance. You may not understand, but the inclusion of those lines is what got the world of Kingdom Hearts approved. There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway." While many aspects of the story weren't planned by Nomura in advance, I definitely believe there has always been underlying themes and meanings that Nomura has rooted in the series and stayed consistent with and has had plans for ever since the first game. And now that the main story that has been going on with Xehanort is finally complete, it seems like he will finally bring out those underlying themes and meanings in full force and bring them to the forefront rather than in the background. Things are going to start getting really existential, meta, and trippy going forward. And I think this is what Nomura has planned for, hoped for, and always wanted to do since the first game. And I think those quotes of his prove that. The ongoing story has concluded. The ongoing mysteries have now been concluded. The time has come for the underlying themes of existential confusion, hearts, fake worlds, data worlds, dreams, other versions of yourself, not knowing what is real, etc. that have been built up and built up to finally explode and to get what Kingdom Hearts has always truly been about. "There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway."
  2. So, I'm new to this forum. But I thought, what's a better way to kick of my profile than to share some of my artworks? \(^-^)/ Fantasy Dream - Wallpaper This one I created a few months ago. And It's arguably the one I'm the most proud of. Download 4K version on DeviantArt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGVVY_5b98c Starry Sora - Wallpaper This one is fairly recent. I found a cool looking illustration of Sora online. And thought that it would look pretty cool if it was made out of stars on the nightsky. Download 4K version on DeviantArt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvbsKPv18LQ A Scattered Dream - Wallpaper This one is also fairly recent. I don't have much to say about this one. I was just bored one day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Download 4K version on DeviantArt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ExSOGaccrQ Sora's Keyblade - 3D Render This one has taken me a long time to create. It's created and rendered in Cinema 4D. Download 4K version on DeviantArt I also made a dedicated thread for the Keyblade model (Added April 5th 2018) Sora imagining himself at the beach - Wallpaper A combination of 3D rendering and Photoshop magic. A satisfying result. Download 4K version on DeviantArt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36H-Wn0fv_E (Added April 20th 2018) Twilight Memory - Wallpaper I've wanted to create a Roxas themed one for a long time. And I finally got around to do it. Download 4K version on DeviantArt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmYdLJ3v-K8 I hope you guys like them! \(^-^)/
  3. I'll explain the Sleeping Worlds/the realm of sleep. (This is a part of my "Explained" series of posts. To view my "Time Travel Explained" post, click here, to view my "Heartless, Nobodies, Unversed, and Dream Eaters Explained" post, click here, and to view my "The Braig/Xigbar Situation Explained" post, click here.) All the "realm of sleep" is, is dreams. Worlds can dream and people can dream. When a world falls to darkness/goes to the Realm of Darkness, they also fall asleep and they dream. The worlds we go to in Dream Drop Distance are dreams of worlds that were freed from darkness, but were not freed from their sleep. Yen Sid sent Sora and Riku back in time to Destiny Islands before it fell to darkness, so that they could sort of "ride" Destiny Islands into darkness, therefore ride it into sleep. Once they rode it into sleep and fell asleep, they unknowingly opened the first Sleeping Keyhole and were transported to the next Sleeping World/the first Sleeping World from the present-day that they need to save. When this happened, Riku unknowingly dove into Sora's dreams and became a Spirit Dream Eater to protect him from Nightmares. So, throughout the game, Sora is in the dreams of the worlds that fell to darkness, but didn't wake from their sleep, and Riku is in Sora's dreams. Things change when they get to The World That Never Was though. The World That Never Was is not a Sleeping World. It's a real world in the Realm Between. There's a cutscene where Yen Sid says that Sora and Riku will eventually end up out of the Sleeping Worlds and into a world that's in the Realm Between. That world was The World That Never Was. It's not a Sleeping World, but when Riku arrived there, he was still in the realm of sleep since he was still in Sora's dreams and has been the whole journey. After Riku defeats Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, he's brought back to the real world and out of the realm of sleep. When Sora arrived at The World That Never Was, he was in the real world and out of the dream. But, Young Xehanort dragged Sora back into the realm of sleep, but this time, he dragged Sora into Sora's own dreams instead of the world's dreams. Then, Xigbar dragged Sora into a second sleep. So, Sora's sleeping body was in Sora's own dreams which is why Riku saw it before he fought Anti Black Coat. Anyways, after Young Xehanort successfully puts Sora into a weird sleep coma by dragging him further and further into dreams, he brings him back to the real world and places him on one of the Organization XIII thrones. Riku still had his Dream Eaters and his Dream Eater powers in the real world of The World That Never Was because Sora was still asleep. He still had a weird Dream Eater connection to him. Nomura said The Mysterious Tower drifts around and doesn't stay in the same place. The Mysterious Tower used to be a part of a world called Symphony of Sorcery. It's drifted away from that world a long time ago though. The world "Symphony of Sorcery" is a Sleeping World. The reason The Mysterious Tower shows up in that world is because the dream is filling in the gaps, just like it fills in the gaps with characters. The Grid is a digital world inside of a computer in a world that we don't know the name of. The world that Sam Flynn is from. Just like how Space Paranoids is a digital world inside of a computer in Radiant Garden. Space Paranoids is a copy of The Grid made by Ansem the Wise. The reason Space Paranoids looks so different than The Grid though is because he copied it a long time ago. Space Paranoids is what The Grid used to look like. The Grid is not a Sleeping World, but the world it's attached to/the world it's a computer on, is a Sleeping World. Which is why Dream Eaters show up there. Country of the Musketeers is simply a world Mickey, Donald, and Goofy traveled to on their adventures. Minnie used to be a resident there, and she later moved to Disney Town to be with Mickey. Also, the Robed Figure was there on Destiny Islands in the first Kingdom Hearts so that he could mark the time traveling Sora with the Recusant's Sigil and so that Young Xehanort can time travel to where the Robed Figure is and follow Sora and Riku into the realm of sleep. So, now that Sora was marked with the Recusant's Sigil and now that Young Xehanort was in the same time period as Sora, he was able to teleport to wherever he was. Oh, and we now know that the official name for the realm of sleep is "Unchained." In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, it was called many different things, it seemed to not have an official name. It was actually called "the realm of sleep" only once. So, yeah, it's the "Unchained" realm.
  4. WAKELESS SHOULD BE A DREAM OR NIGHTMARE? You choose!! MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHA PS Sora96 logged on to vote lmao
  5. I had some weird dream about KH3 ending. Luckily before I forget, I wrote down in my dream journal. Here it is: Sora and Mickey is sitting on a hill in Destiny island Sora: How are your wounds healing, Mickey? Mickey:..... Sora: You should take it easy. Besides, there's no more Xehanort to worry about. Mickey......are you going back to your castle? Mickey:.... Sora:..... Sora:....But we can see each other soon, right? We can hangout together, just like before! Mickey: Sora.... Sora: Hmm? Mickey: You're actually.....You're really.... You don't really don't exist in this dimension! Sora:What? Mickey: I summoned you from your world.....so we could restore the balance of Light and Darkness. Sora: Wha, what are you talking about? Mickey: It's true! This dimension is not your reality! Sora: But....no! But I remember everything! The first time I met you with Donald and Goofy, my friends, Riku and Kairi. It's real! Mickey: They're.....they're fake memories that Ansem the Wise made...you simply believed them. Sora: No...That's a lie! Mickey: It's not. It's the truth. The strange memory that Erauqs spoke of....your presence in our dimension is like a forgotten memory. Sora: No..... Mickey: When all the hearts returned to their bodies, all the heartless disappear, and all the nobody grow hearts, you won't be able to stay in this dimension. Sora: No! I'm not going anywhere! I'm staying! Mickey: Sora.....well, I....but I.... Strange portal appears behind Sora Sora: Huh?! Mickey: Sora....it's time for you to go home. Back to your world. Sora: But, I don't want to! Sora is being pulled in the portal by some unknown force while Mickey looks to the side. Sora: I don't want to go home! Sora is about to enter the portal until Mickey grabs his hand. Mickey: Sora, don't let go! Sora trys to hold on Mickey hand, but lose grip and pulled in the portal. Mickey: Sora!!! Sora: Mickey!!! Portal disappear with Sora. Mickey looks in the sky while credits music plays. Mickey: Sora.... Credits starts to roll Square, make this happen.
  6. The characters will stay in their normal attire until near the end of Disc 2, where they'll (possibly) change into this. Main/Playable Characters ~ Edward, Sora, Alphonse, Kairi and Lan Fan.

  7. Ian Manning

    Alternate Appearances 2

Here's some more alternate looking characters from Kingdom Hearts. 'Marluxia & Zeromus Fusion' ~ I had this idea when I first saw Zeromus in Final Fantasy XII. During this time, Marluxia was one of my favorite villains, so it's only natural for some fans to make some twists with the character. 'Xemnas & Maleficent Fusion' ~ It was a wild idea, BUT I DID IT! 'Saix's New Form' ~ What if Saix made a copy of Sora's DNA and mixed it with his? These drawings were also done in 2006.

© Kingdom Hearts is licensed by Disney and Square-Enix while Final Fantasy is ONLY licensed by Square-Enix.

  8. Ian Manning

    Alternate Appearances 1

Here are some different looking characters from the Kingdom Hearts franchise... 'One-Winged Namine' ~ She was possibly the whitest chick anyone's seen in the franchise. Some would probably confuse her for an angel. 'Werewolf Roxas' ~ This was probably the most ridiculous idea I've had for Roxas. 'Riku's Soul Eater/Way of the Dawn Hybrid' ~ We all want a chance to make characters darker looking than they are now. These drawings were made around 2006. WARNING: Kingdom Hearts is licensed by Disney and Square-Enix.

  9. To signify Xehanort's dedication to Father, he bonded Saix's body with what remained of Envy after he was defeated by Marcoh and the Chimera traitors in Briggs. Now that the two became one, Father gave them a small fragment of the Gate to use as a weapon, hence the Keyblade's arch enemy, the Gatesword. With it, Envaix could summon anything he wanted from the Gate of Truth, including the Unversed! He will appear soon in Fullmetal Kingdom.

  10. So... I was thinking.. since.. I Was thinking that maybe There wil be a Kingdom Hearts 3 + ( Just like 2 Final mix+ that contains Re: Com and 2 final mix) That will contains Kingdom Hearts 3 and Dream Drop Distance(Remake or Only Cutscenes)
  11. So last night I had a dream about to individuals whom I don't know, or even exist. Heck, I wasn't even in the dream. It was like watching a short film about these two people's lives. So, without further delay, here we go. I tried to remember as much as I can. It's a bit of a long read, but otherwise very emotional. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What do you think about this dream? Just curious...
  12. I would have posted this earlier, but I had things to do. So, I had a dream last night about the ending of KH3. There are some things I didn't remember, but I wrote the highlights of it in detail, It's a bit of a long read. So, here we go!! NOTE: This dream makes no sense in the overall events and continuity of the games so far, but hey, it was nice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In all honesty, this is the most fanfiction-y dream that I've ever had EVER. I have mixed feelings about it. It didn't make sense at all, but that dream was all about the emotion of it all. I've been with this series for so long, that seeing everyone have a happy ending really touched my heart. Especially the reunion of Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. What did you think of this dream? Also, what do you think the KH3 ending will be like? Happy, sad, bittersweet, etc? Just curious...
  13. This is a little something for the shonen fans out there. Fans of the other genres can join in too, though. (If that's possible. I mean, I don't know too many battle manga or anime in the shojo genre except Sailor Moon. ) Now, we all have our favorite characters from our favorite anime or manga, and I think all of us can agree that we've thought of two different characters from two different properties duking it out to see who's better. Let's be honest, cross-overs are awesome. That being said: if you were to pick two of your favorite characters to have an old-fashioned melee, who would they be? Are there any stipulations to the fight? And what exactly is the relationship between these characters that entices you to see them fight? I have my own battles, of course, so here they are: Might Gai (Naruto) VS Alex Louis Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist) Both Gai and Armstrong are known to be incredibly enthusiastic and eccrentric men, and can be prone to look silly or even flat out ridiculous at times. However, don't let that fool you, these guys are BEASTS. Gai is the best taijutsu user (which in Naruto is basic hand to hand combat) in the entire world, pretty much, and he has been known to trade blows with the strongest ninja using the power of the Eight Gates, a special power that allows him to increase his speed and power through unlocking specific gates in his chakra network, and through that has mastered powerful taijutsu attacks that will WRECK YOUR SHIT. Armstrong is no slouch either. He's the best built of all the Alchemists in the Ametrisan State Army and easily the strongest in both durability and raw power. With the aid of two metal gauntlets strapped to his fists (both marked with transmutation circles), Armstrong transmutes objects mainly by punching them, and when he punches, you will FEEL IT. Stipulations: Gai can only fight hand to hand, no weapons or ninjutsu; Armstrong's moveset is purely his Alchemy so he's fine. The winner: I'll have to give it to Might Gai. The Eight Gates may have it side effects on the body, but if Might Gai uses enough power, he can one-shot Armstrong in a millsecond. Before he does though, I'm sure these two would have a sure-fire slugfest with each other before Gai uses it as a last resort. Ryuko Matoi (Kill La Kill) VS Casshern (Casshern Sins) Ryuko and Matoi are both experiments gone wrong. They were separated/abandoned by their creator; one searches for their place in life while one struggles to accept the place that they have. But through all that, they both still kick major ass. Ryuko is the protagonist of Kill La Kill, wielding the powerful Scissors Blade, a half-scissors blade that is able to cut Life Fibers, which are otherwise indestructible. and the battle outfit Senkentsu, which when activated increases her power immensely. Casshern is the protagonist of Casshern Sins, a dark gritty reboot of the classic lighthearted series Casshan, an anime that inspired the creation of Mega Man. He's a cybernetic warrior, a former assassin, and a killing machine; his speed is his biggest strength, able to zip in and out of sight faster than the eye can see, while delivering powerful and impactful strikes all the same, making it incredibly hard to even touch him. Stipulations: Ryuko can only use Senketsu and the Scissors Blade at their lowest power, and cannot use any attacks used on Life Fibers since Casshern has none. Casshern is allowed to go into his berserk mode but cannot try to disassemble Ryuko since she is not a robot. The winner: This one, I admit, is a tie for me. Yeah. They're both really strong and almost indestructible. I honestly think they'd beat the hell out of each other until they're both knocked out. Goku (DragonBall) VS Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) Two protagonists of their own popular shonen series who share a number of traits: energy, friendliness, simple-mindedness, grit, determination, and the most notable: they're ability to eat massive amounts of food in one sitting. Goku needs no real explanation. He's f*cking Goku. He's the strongest Saiyan warrior alive, mixing in his martial arts teachings under Master Roshi in the Turtle School (with attacks like the Kamehameha), the teachings of King Kai (with attacks like the Spirit Bomb), his ability to transform into a Super Saiyan, a form that is able to increase his already great power immensely, and overall, being an ace when it comes to punching faces and kicking ass. Luffy is also one with little explanation needed: the leader of the Straw Hat Pirates, he's considering one of the most dangerous pirates alive, given his reckless nature and the power of his Devil Fruit, the Gum Gum Fruit, which has turned his entire body into rubber. This makes him insanely durable to common attacks and he is able to channel his rubberness into powerful strikes, along with the power of Second Gear, a technique that acts as a substitute for steroids essentially and increases his stats immensely. All this and more are in his ever growing amount of moves. Stipulations: Goku must stay in base form as going Super Saiyan might be too much for Luffy to handle; Luffy himself is allow to use Second Gear as it will put him and Goku essentially on equal grounds. The winner: As much as I feel like i'm playing favorites with this one, I'm going with my boy Son Goku. Even with Luffy's Second Gear, Goku is still able to get stronger when he's at near death thanks to his Saiyan genes. So even if Luffy beats him within an inch of his life, he'll still have enough gas to keep going. And Luffy is still human after all; he can be hurt by really powerful attacks. Leave your own dream battles below. NOTE: We're ONLY talking about anime and manga characters here. So no video game character, no comic book character, or anything of the sort. Strictly anime and manga only. If you go and do that anyway, well then, you're dumb.
