A/N: Hi. I had a bit of a rough sleep last night and so I woke up pretty early today. For some reason this idea popped into my head when I was listening to music (you'll never guess what I was listening to). So I present to you the first piece of KH inspired creative writing I have written in a good two years or so. I may be a little rusty so C&C would be welcomed! Enjoy. My Enemy The feeling came when Riku least expected it. Being able to keep the darkness within him locked away, he was able to feel it creeping up inside his heart. A feeling of suffocation, like chains were wrapped around his heart, pulling it deeper into the abyss. Every moment that passed, the feeling became stronger. Leaking from his heart and coursing through the rest of his body, like a swirl of energy travelling from head to toe, swaying back and forth. The sensation ran through his soul like a river but it would also reside most deeply where he had learned to trap it, within his heart. “How?...” The deep voice in his head asked him. “How are you doing this?” “Ansem... Simple. I'm not afraid of the darkness. And unlike you, I don't surrender to it either.” Riku answered. Enraged but never one to be defeated so quickly, Ansem, much like his human self, Xehanort, always had a back up plan. And in this case he would use her. Her. The one Riku had dived deep into the darkness to rescue in the first place. At the cost of both her heart and Sora's. The one Riku had told himself he had to forget and whose contact dwindled over the past year, never because he forgot about her but because he couldn't forget about her. Her who Riku had blocked out for so long that he almost could not match her fact to her name anymore. Kairi. Riku froze in his tracks, dropping to his knees and slammed the way to the dawn into the ground in frustration. Another secret that Riku had kept to himself, his feelings for her could now be used against him. Ansem had access to his heart and everything connected to it. He knew all about Riku and used the boy's memories against him. Except for the one memory that even Ansem could not access, Riku as a young child talking to a man on Destiny Islands, the man looked familiar but Ansem could not recognize him or see clearly what was happening at the time, but it angered him when he tried to access the memory. “How does it feel knowing you lack the power to save her?” Ansem asked Riku. But Riku knew that she was waiting for him and Sora to return home. In the meantime, he could not let Ansem use his friends against him like this. Placing the memories at the back of his mind he pushed himself up to his feet again, he was in Castle Oblivion after all, the realm of twilight, a place where Riku felt he belonged are both rejecting darkness and being rejected by light. Denying The Rising Ansem left Riku for a moment, to join with his nobody, Xemnas. Xemnas and the rest of the Organisation had Namine and she would be a vital part of their plan. She had the power to control the memories of Sora and those connected to his heart. “News?" Xemnas turned his attention towards his heartless self. Talking with a version of his own self was something he was becoming accustomed to, he never trusted or had the time for anybody else anyway. “He's not submitting.”Ansem said. “My attempts to reach out to the darkness in him, collapse under the light.” The air was silent between the two of them for a moment. Ansem turned to Namine, she spent all her time in the white room, so that's where they had to go to giver her orders. “Bring her in!” Ansem demanded. Riku had just finished fighting a group of heartless. But it didn't take a long for the surge of darkness to return to his heart. Only this time... Itch, itch. Something in his mind. He hated her. She was a means to an end and nothing more. And as for Sora, some best friend he turned out to be, he stole everything away from Riku. The Keyblade, his trust, his friend. Everything but the darkness. “What is?---” Riku's voice broke away mid sentence “They are your enemy.” Ansem finished it for him. Something's happening Mind distracting My pulse is raising The darkness fuelled by the hate, hate towards those who he fought so hard for only to be betrayed in the end. Riku was not an addict but he knew what it was like to have something you care about so much ripped away from your life like that. He needed something to fill the void left by his friendships being destroyed. “Arghhhh!” Only noise came out as Riku let the darkness devour him. Mental Torture Can't escape the paranoia The Way to The Dawn took a different form. The sharp edges, the dark grey colours and legendary demonic face etched just above the handguard. This was master Xehanort's keyblade. Riku was no longer himself. “Now. We will rid you of those who have hurt you. They are your enemy now!” Riku said to himself, his physical appearance and voice had changed. He was Ansem now. He lied to me He's hates me He lied to me He's using me He's dead to me Sora, he is my enemy! And with that Ansem opened up a portal to the dark corridor. Riku was going to find Sora and all the rest of them. One by one they will all fall to his Keyblade. Namine knew what she had done, she could only watch the events unfold now, she felt the same pain inside her that she had caused onto Sora and his friends. But she had a plan. No. She wouldn't let them use her like this. Not again. She began to draw a picture in her notepad. She wasn't the best drawer but her drawings had the power to instil memories in other people. A picture that was worth more than a thousand words. As she finished the drawing, she smiled at it. Sora, Riku and Kairi, sitting on the shoreline of Destiny Islands, watching the waves. The thought of pone day having friendships as strong as that herself made her happy. Ansem was in the corridor of darkness, betwixt and between. When he suddenly felt it. The feeling came when Ansem least expected it. Being able to keep the light within him locked away, he was able to feel it creeping up inside him. Like chains of light around a heart of darkness. “What?!” “No! No not now!” Ansem put his hand over his chest, exactly where his heart would be. The memories came flooding back to him. Friendship. An unbreakable bond between the three that even darkness could not consume. Riku, just like Terra before him, did everything he could to fight for that bond. The light shined bright within him. Ansem had not seen a light as blinding as this since he opened Kingdom Hearts was was equally as stunned that it was there at all. If I speak with human elegance and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I have faith to say to a mountain jump and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give all I earn to the poor Or even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr But I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere So, no matter what I say, no matter what I believe, no matter what I do I’m bankrupt without love. Riku had done it, he had taken back control of his mind, his heart and his body. But the internal struggle was not yet over. Ansem was still floating in front of him. The two squared off, facing each other, not one of them blinking or moving breaking eye contact. Ansem, though furious, stood with his arms folded, he knew it was just a matter of time. “Such a fool. Fight back as much as you want, your heart will eventually betray you. Every light must fade. Every heart return to darkness!” And Ansem, having used the last of his power, faded into the dark abyss. Riku knew he would be back. But for now he had love and friendship to fight for. Darkness was his only enemy.
This is a One-Shot RP, meaning that it is intended to be really short [Think “One mission RP”] and not as open ended as the other RPs here. The main reason for this is because I am new to the role of a roleplay host. Creating this one shot RP will allow me to essentially have a crash course in the roles of the GM and help me improve the guide. If everything works out OK, then depending on how good this RP turns out [and how decent I become at being a host], I might create another RP that immediately follows this one, where it can be slightly more open ended and I can accept more players. Due to the fact that this is intended to be short, accepted players will be extremely limited. I apologize in advance if you and your character sheet are rejected. "Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light. Everyone loved the light. Then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves. And darkness was born in their hearts. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared. But small fragments of light survived, in the hearts of children. With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It's the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps, deep within the darkness. That's why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other. But someday, a door to the innermost darkness will open and the true light will return. So, listen, child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. Your heart will shine with its power and push the darkness away." >>>Warning: Battery Levels Low<<< >>>Triangulating Universal Position<<< World Identified: Destiny Islands [user Authentication data Corrupted. It’s been… Gosh, I can’t even remember how long it has been since the battle for the light has started. It was all so sudden too. Out of nowhere, these dark beings appeared and decimated worlds faster than anything we could ever imagine. When the few scouts came in to report, the descriptions alone made us throw up. These… cruel, heartless… things would consume everything in their path and spare no one who were unfortunate not to escape. So many worlds were lost before we could scrounge up an armada to combat this new adversary. The worlds of Ardendale, Land of Dragons, Atlantica, Olympus, The Deep Jungle, and countless others were lost, and… The reports of what those things do to the princesses are... unspeakable to say the least. An unofficial nickname for these dark beings started circulating within the troops when they were all briefed on this: Heartless. They decided to call ‘em that thanks in part to what they witness: Those things have a knack of maiming people and ripping out their hearts and... well… anyways, Battle after battle to defend our worlds, we suffered massive casualties, but the heartless seemed infinite. Countless times, we’ve seen their leaders, and it turns out that these beings are commanded by people. We don’t know what they want other than the complete obliteration of the light, and we did a darn good job at slowing down their efforts. After those scouts reported, the message was relayed to the remaining worlds to evacuate their princesses to Disney Castle. We thought they would be safe, and that somehow we could win this war and establish a stalemate against the darkness after retaking our lost worlds. A long, bloody stalemate where sacrifices must be made every day to maintain it, but a stalemate nonetheless. But that was years ago. Now, here we are holed up in Disney Castle. We were able to hold them off for a time… And then we started to lose worlds and soldiers. Special warriors who were capable of wielding the magical weapon known universally as the ‘keyblade’ could only lessen the bloodshed by the relentless assault of these heartless. They were magnificent, to say the least, and their capabilities against the darkness were more than a rallying cry for us: They became our symbol of hope. There were the Warriors, who were not afraid to have their armored boots on the ground with us to fight against those heartless up close and personal. Needless to say, they were celebrated by the troopers and field commanders. And then there were those Keyblade Mages, who used immensely powerful magics beyond our imaginations to either support us or really hurt them. There were rumors that the most powerful mages could see into the future and know our fates and… Well, if that were true then we wouldn’t be with our backs against the freaking wall. We all figured that since there was the sword and staff, most of us figured that there should be a keyblade shield so to speak. I’m just saying, we can really use a good defense right about now. Speaking of those keyblade wielders, we lost a good number of them as they fought valiantly to buy some time for the remaining soldiers and civilians to retreat into the core worlds of Twilight Town, Radiant Garden, Destiny Islands, Traverse Town, and of course, Disney Castle. We feared it was inevitable, and we were right; Not long after the mass exodus of civilians, soldiers, and keyblade initiates to these core worlds, The heartless were able to breach our defenses and engulf some of our last worlds. Radiant Garden was the first to fall, With Traverse Town following suit within six hours. We lost half of our armada on that day… Trying to save as many people as we can. That day was… huh… 75 hours ago. All soldiers and what remains of civilians are now refugeeing on Destiny Islands, Twilight Town and the Castle. Everyone is anxiously awaiting their end here in the Castle; the princesses of heart, generals, hell even what remains of the elite soldiers look so somber as we look out to the now empty sky. His majesty is a little enthusiastic though: Reports are coming in that some of the keyblade wielders who stayed behind to buy us time actually survived. Apparently, they’re being ordered to rendezvous here at Disney Castle to concentrate their powers and the King is planning to use them to punch a hole through this sea of enemies. Honestly, I don’t think it’ll work but… Better to try and fail than to just wait for our doom here in the castle, right? Well… wait… There’s a gummi transport landing in the courtyard here. It looks like… yep… It’s them alright. The keyblade wielders themselves. And it looks like many of them survived too! Maybe… Maybe we have a chance after all to take back the worlds we lost and save the princesses. >>>Unknown noise<<< Looks like His Majesty has declared an emergency meeting. Well, I better shut this darn thing off, but before I do, there’s something I should say. In the event that this is the last recording of this conflict, sheesh listen to me…, uh… I just want to tell anyone who may get this in the future: If you can see the sun shine, if you can see stars in the night sky, if you can sleep at night peacefully without worrying about monsters coming out, if you can wake up and see the sun rise, then that means we won. A lot of people have sacrificed themselves to try and stop the darkness from engulfing everything, and all we ask in return is to be remembered. They always say the greatest casualty is being forgotten. If we didn’t win… All I-... what we wanted to know is: Why? What did we ever do to deserve having our existence wiped away? This is General Jason Schindler, Leader of what remains of the Light Armed Forces, signing out for what may be the last time.” >>>End Recording<<< ------------ Greetings prospective RPers! I finally decided to move off my lazy butt and make an RP! This will be a learning experience for me mainly, since being the guy who made the guide, I figured what better way to improve it than to actually take on the role of an RP Host? Please go easy on me and give me suggestions on how to improve on being a host Plotline: [Read the passages above... If it's too long for you, then this one-shot RP is not for you.] Not too long before the Keyblade War, there was a different war in which once again it was the light against the darkness. The light had always been threatened, with sacrifices being made to keep a tedious stalemate against the dark void. But then everything changed when the fire nation attacked darkness seemed to attack in force. The shaky stalemate was immediately shattered, and the darkness consumed most of the known worlds. With the light on its last stand and only a few worlds standing between the darkness and total victory, it is up to the hearts and minds of the few to take back the worlds that were lost. Rules: Since I do participate in traditional tabletop RPGs, some stuff shall be determined by the dices. I highly doubt that there will be any romance involved for [what I intend to be] a short roleplay, so I don't think I have to worry too much about that. Other than that: Standard KH13 rules apply In the unthinkable event that there is romance, keep it tame [no explicit love making scenes please -.-' No godmodding Since everyone is on the side of light [i hope], I don’t have to worry about players killing off other characters. You do have to worry about me offing them though, so be careful. Character Creation: “Sir. These elite warriors are our best hope in this war against the darkness. They may also be our last.” - Second Lieutenant Jacob Snider, Commander of the Light Ground Forces. In this KH based, military themed RP, players are more than free to choose any type of fighter that would fit into KH lore, Keyblade wielder or otherwise. In order to show that you have read everything thus far, kindly add in a notable quote of your character so I can also get a gist of what that character is. However, due to the fact that the light is on it's last stand, all of the remaining survivors are battle-hardened, butt-kicking veterans, since anyone less were killed or engulfed by the darkness. With that in mind, template is as follows: >>>Begin Dossier Decryption<<< Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: Personality: Homeworld: Class: [such as Keyblade wielder, keyblade initiate, light soldier, narwhal hunter, etc] Role: [sub-class, such as medic, squad leader, scout, assassin, messenger, support, skirt-chaser, etc.] Weapon(s): Notable Commands and Abilities: Please go all out on this and list every single move and abilities the character will know. Why? When the RP starts, under no circumstances can this be edited in response to situations thrown against them. On that note: “Learning on the fly” is no justification either, as is making up a new command skill within the RP. This rule applies only to Keyblade wielders, and no one else.
