    The New Divide

(This is the second half of the Union Cross title that is mostly story based) (THIS IS A HEADS UP: THIS STORY IS NOT FINISHED! ALL I KNOW IS THAT THERE ARE A COUPLE OF CHARACTERS THAT ARE, IN A WAY, RELEVANT TO THE OVERALL PLOT. THE THOUGHTS I HAVE AT THE MOMENT ARE ONLY WHAT WAS AVAILABLE AT THE TIME. SO PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND AND TAKE THIS AS A GRAIN OF SALT.) (I WILL NOT SPOIL THE MAJOR STORY ELEMENTS....except for one. I want to point out a personal feeling of a missed opportunity in one of the recent updates while applying my thoughts on Nomura's way of thinking) (Lastly, I don't what else to title this aside form calling it Union Cross LOL So, I guess you can thank Linkin Park for that LOL) --- We go to the next chapter of this timeline. We follow a new group of leaders (The Leader of the Dandelions) after the tragic event that occurred. They try to find ways to prevent their own unions from remembering the event while trying to keep the darkness at bay. --- This is probably going to be the hardest to describe the story, as mentioned, because it is not finished (I don't know how long it'll take for them to actually finish the game's story). All I could do is just express how I feel what I have so far. Because it is a more current story, I felt like I would end up being more surprised whenever there's a new update. The major draw for this title's story was the fact this takes place about 100 years before the events of birth by sleep. This timeline held an important event that became the seed to drive someone to motivation later in the series. What was surprising, however, was the fact that each update we had made one thing clear: it is becoming canon to the lore of the series. If you scream out saying, "why are they adding canon story elements to a mobile game?", then you are right to ask that. Because they try to make it connect to the overall plot of the series, it leaves everyone [who has not caught on to the story] really confused. I cannot say as such on whether or not this will directly connect to KH3 (because KH3 is not out yet nor is this story finish will not be finished by the time KH3 releases). I highly recommend you all to at least check out the plot of this title yourselves before you play KH3, just in case (since we learned there were a couple of characters that are actually important in the series). ((((That being said, I want to address my thoughts on this particular update. I will not say the names of the characters, but I will talk about my thoughts on this update as of is post. So, we are introduced to a couple of certain characters (a guy and a girl). Via rough translations, the guy was looking for his sibling or her sister. Because of the strange translations, we couldn't point whose sister they speak of. This leaves a lot of people speculating and concluding who they feel is the right translation. Turns out, on the next update, it was confirmed to be the guy's sibling. I want to mention that this guy and the girl are actually important characters and I know those characters. I wanted to know more about them and I am getting it. However, I feel is update was a missed opportunity and an example of how Nomura writes his story in Kingdom Hearts. I personally wanted the girl to have s sibling because of her character later n the series and the motivation behind it would've made sense. However, I feel like they had the guy having the sibling because I feel it is a way for Nomura to do everything in his power to make sure it is unpredictable, to which the series is known for. While I do enjoy the unknown future of the story and not know what happens next, I feel that would've been a better motivation for that girl then the guy. Of course, because it is unpredictable, maybe Nomura had something up his sleeve. I actually look forward to it!)))) I really don't have much else to say....simply because, again, this story is not finished. How I feel on what we have so far is honestly interesting. I like seeing what my character had to go through. Kinda seeing myself through these situations at the time is really awesome to see (then again, I am bit bias LOL) [ARTIST NOTES] This was, by the far, the hardest to come up with a concept. As mentioned many time, the story was not finished. So, it was hard to decide the background when it is not the full product. I originally was gonna draw based on KH3. However, due to where it is set, I had to stick with it. I know it is the same background 3 times in a row. The color palettes for the background and atmosphere I try my best to make as different as I can. (I got one more game to cover as of this post! We are getting really close! PLEASE STAY TUNED!!) To start this off, I will first have to explain the differences between all of the "χ" titles of Kingdom Hearts games: Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] was a Japanese-only browser game that is now discontinued. So, in order to experience this title, you can watch all of the story-related cutscenes translated to English in the YouTube playlist here. You can also watch a full English translated playthrough in the YouTube playlist here. Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ was the name of an iOS and Android smartphone game before it got rebranded to "Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]." Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] is essentially a rebranding of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ. You don't have to get Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, because by getting Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross], you are getting Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, since it's a part of the title. They renamed the app to "Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]" to help promote the "season two" of the game, which is titled "Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]." Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is a movie included in the Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue HD collection for the PlayStation 4. Yes, Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] are all different titles. They are not remakes or remasters of each other. Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is a sequel to Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] is a rebranding of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, as well as the name of the "season two" of the game. Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is a movie that tells some of the story of Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], but through the perspective of different characters. These things makes all of these separate Kingdom Hearts titles. It's sort of difficult to explain how Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is a sequel to the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]without spoiling things, so here's an explanation that's light on spoilers and one that's heavy on spoilers: Spoiler-light explanation: Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is a sequel to the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], because at the end of the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], something happened to the characters which causes them to go through their entire journey again, except without the finale (the Keyblade War). Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is you playing as the character from the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] going through their entire journey again, except without the finale. So, as you can see, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ sort of acts as a mobile port of the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], as well as a sequel to it. The "season two" of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, called "Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]" continues the game from after the characters have completed going through their entire journey a second time. Spoiler-heavy explanation: A part of Ava's role given to her by The Master of Masters is to divide the Dandelions into five different Unions with their own Union leaders, just like how the Foretellers were the Union leaders of five different Unions. The five Dandelion Union Leaders are Ephemer, Skuld, Ventus, Brain, and Strelitzia. Marluxia's original self, Lauriam, has killed Strelitzia, took her copy of the Dandelion Union Leader rule book, and then took her spot among the Dandelion Union Leaders. They are to go into the Unchained realm (the realm of sleep) in order to prepare for the world after and to forget their moments of tragedy (their memories of the Keyblade War). To make this happen, the Chirithys owned by the Dandelions will bring their owners into the Unchained realm (they're Dream Eaters, so they can do this) and they have to lie to the Dandelions and say that the Keyblade War was just a dream and they can't tell them they're in the Unchained realm. This is all to make them forget their moments of tragedy because those memories won't be needed in the world after, according to The Master of Masters. The only people who know about these lies that they have to tell the Dandelions are the Dandelion Union Leaders, Ava, The Master of Masters, and the Chirithys. Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is a sequel to the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] that takes place in the Unchained realm. During the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], the Dandelions (as well as the soon to be Dandelion Union Leaders) went into the Unchained realm. The Dandelion Union Leaders then left the Unchained realm and came back to the real world after the Keyblade War ended, while the rest of the Dandelions stayed in the Unchained realm. The Player survived the Keyblade War, and Ephemer and Skuld decided to make the Player a late Dandelion. The Player's Chirithy took the Player to the Unchained realm and had them forget what happened. Now, this is when Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ begins. There, in the Unchained realm, the Player and all the Dandelions are repeating their entire journey from the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] over again in order to have them forget the Keyblade War and make it seem like it was just a dream. They're within their own dreams, just like how Sora was within his own dreams near the end of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Now, in the "season two" of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, called "Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross]," the Player and the Dandelions have finally caught up with and gone through their entire journey from the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] over again (except without the Keyblade War). The Player has begun getting flashbacks from the Keyblade War. They think it's just from a dream though. The group of Dandelion Union Leaders go from the Keyblade Graveyard back to Daybreak Town and decide to celebrate by providing new Spirits for the Dandelions. Ephemer goes with Skuld and Ventus to collect the necessary ingredients, while Brain and Lauriam stay behind in order to prepare. Soon after, a Chirithy approaches the Player and, using some of Player's Chirithy's fur, creates a "pet" Spirit for them. In the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], the Foretellers used the Book of Prophecies to conjure up illusions/projections of worlds of the future. These are the Disney worlds in the game. In these projected worlds, the Keyblade wielders are to destroy Heartless (which are also conjured up projections from the future) in order to gather Lux (light) from the future. In the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], all of the Disney worlds that the characters go to, all of the Disney characters that the characters meet, and all of the Heartless (except for Darklings) are just illusions/projections conjured up by the Book of Prophecies. Since The Master of Masters and Luxu both disappeared and the Foretellers (presumably) died in the Keyblade War, there is no one to conjure up the illusory worlds of the future any more. So, The Master of Masters created data versions of the worlds in advance. The worlds that the Dandelions are going to in the Unchained realm are these data worlds. Maleficent was stabbed by the Keyblade of Heart by Riku in the first Kingdom Hearts. This gave her the ability to time travel. So, she time traveled to the past in order to try and rewrite history and make it so she wasn't defeated. She time traveled to after the Keyblade War and ended up in the data version of Enchanted Dominion. A data version of herself exists there, so she was able to time travel there. She was unaware that it was a data world until a shadowy figure calling himself "Darkness" pointed it out to her. He explained that The Master of Masters knew she was going to do this, and prepared the data version of Enchanted Dominion to trap her in in advance, so that she would not be in the real world. He does not want her in the real world since she possesses memories and knowledge of the future. "Darkness" then explains to her that she needs to return to her own time. If you would like to know how time travel works and how Maleficent was able to time travel since she was stabbed by a Keyblade, you can check out my "Time Travel Explained" post here. And if you would like to know more about the Unchained realm (the realm of sleep), you can check out my "The Realm of Sleep Explained" post here. Here's a simple step-by-step of what you should do to experience the entire "χ" story: 1.) Watch the story-related cutscenes for Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] translated to English. You can watch them in the YouTube playlist here. You can also watch a full English translated playthrough in the YouTube playlist here. 2.) Watch the Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover movie that's included in Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. If you've already seen it, then watch it again since it will now make a lot more sense after watching the story-related cutscenes for Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. 3.) Watch the first cutscene in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage- Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. This cutscene with Luxu takes place after Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover. If you've already seen it, then take a look at it again since it will make a lot more sense now. 4.) Download Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] for iOS or Android. 5.) Play Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] for iOS or Android. If you don't want to play it, then you can just watch the cutscenes. It's very repetitive and long, so I understand if you don't want to play it, but I recommend giving it a shot. If you don't like it and decide to just watch the story-related cutscenes, then you can watch them in the YouTube playlist here. The game is still ongoing, so I will update that playlist whenever new story-related cutscenes come out. And that's it!
  3. Some head portraits of the newly appointed Union leaders in the Kingdom Hearts mobage. Starting from left to right, top to bottom. Skuld - Three Fates Strelitzia - Paradise Glimpse Ventus - Wayward Star Ephemera - Starbright Lauriam - Vain Vines Blaine - Fourth Enigma

  4. I got bored recently and drew up custom Keyblades for the 5 newly appointed Union Leaders. Then... the recent story update sorta put a wrench to that so I had to include Lauriam's. Note: These were all made for fun and based on aesthetics alone so they may or may not reflect their wielders. Especially Lauriam's since we don't know if he has a Keyblade or not during Union Cross.

    Dandelion Keyblades

Custom Keyblades for the newly appointed Union Leaders in Kingdom Hearts Union X. *These designs were purely made out of speculations and aesthetics of each Union Leader and not to be taken as actual material. Ephemera (Starbright) Actually a refinement of the usual Starlight Keyblade seen in the game, it was repurposed to resemble the one Sora wields in Kingdom Hearts 3. Skuld (Three Fates) Designed according to her namesake, being one of the three Fates (or Norn as you prefer) alongside Wyrd and Verdandi. The three streaks of red line represent the thread of fate that the Norn twines; past, present and future. Ventus (Wayward Star) Heavily derived from the Wayward Wind in Birth by Sleep. You know what, I seriously ain't got a clue anymore. Blaine (Fourth Enigma) Ain't got a clue on this one either. Peeps mentioned on how this Blaine fellow resembles Ienzo/Zexion from the past KH games, so his Keyblade was derived from his Book of Retribution in a way. Strelitzia (Paradise Glimpse) Designed after the Bird of Paradise flower as according to Strelitzia's namesake. In addition having bird-like features.

  7. It's been a long time since I last posted a theory, but I feel that this one has a lot of weight behind it. Nomura stated that the new Union leaders would have an entirely different story arc to the previous Fortellers (hence why it's "Season 2"). So, I really thought to myself, how is the conflict going to arise from this new group? They can't possibly reuse the whole "traitor" arc again... and then it hit me. The conflict for the new Union leaders is morality. What do I mean by that? Basically, in the Unchained Realm, it was designed as a world without hurt. Problem is, the new Union leaders would have to create a facade to their followers in order to maintain that. After all, the remaining Dandelions are unaware of the deaths of their fallen comrades once they enter the Unchained Realm. So now you wonder, how is this conflict going to be formed? Well, I believe that there's going to be two members that believe that the Dandelions should not know about the Keyblade War, and there will be two members who believes that it's unethical to lie to the Union members, and will let them know about the truth in some way, shape or form. So which side is in which? I think that's been fairly established already, Ephemer and Skuld want to maintain the Unchained Realm as a world without sadness, whilst Blaine and Ventus are not happy that they have to live a lie to their fellow followers. So what about the fifth member? they're going to be the peacekeeper through the whole situation. The Master Ava of the new group who is split on what to do and who to support.
  8. As the title asks, how do you think the plot of this already bizarre story is going to go about? We've got some weird Unchained world (possibly inside the Realm of Sleep?), Ventus is here for some reason, there are two more people that are going to join Ephemer's crew and we don't know what they're going to do once they're all assembled. Also, the X-blade was noticeably absent from the finale in Kingdom Hearts X. It could be argued that without the χ-blade, the Keyblade War might never have been waged; after all, you cannot possess what you cannot find or unlock. - DDD Glossary Was the X-blade involved in the Keyblade War? Is it what's in the master's box? I personally have no idea what's going to happen, only that I have a particularly bad feeling. The simple fact that Ventus is going to end up an amnesiac in the hands of Master Xehanort implies that the story is going to end in yet another tragedy.
  9. (I originally posted this on KH Insider decided to share with you guys as well) this is kind of completely random but I thought id share though I'm sure someone else has mentioned it. I'm currently doing some research on the 3 Fates and what caught my eye was the fact a person named Skuld was mentioned. Pretty much they were an alternate version of the Fates. One version was that they chose what happens in the future for the children of the men. And the second was that they chose who'd live and die during a war. Which is what pretty much Skuld and the Dandelions are doing/going to do. Save as many of the keyblade wielders from the war. I dunno, random rambling anf i just wanted to share tbh
  10. But wait, you wonder, "Pretty sure that Ventus has an established connection with Aqua and Terra right?" well, Sora has two trio's. The Destiny Island trio with Riku and Kairi and the Disney trio with Donald and Goofy. It's not out of the question for Ventus to be connected with more than one trio. Besides, we know little to nothing about Ventus past before he was in Eraqus' care. So, where am I trying to go with this? what's Ventus relevance to Kingdom Hearts X? well, I believe that he's a dandelion. Just like Ephemera and Skuld, he's not tied to a Union, however, I believe that Ventus had strong darkness habouring in his heart during the era of X. Bear with me with where I'm going... Now somehow, Xehanort eventually found Ventus and decided to train him under his wing not only because he was a person that lived during the era of the Keyblade War, but, he also had habouring darkness that had potential for Xehanort. Remember, when we play Birth by Sleep, Ventus is a being of light as Xehanort extracted all the darkness away from him to create Vanitas. How was Ventus truly like before this? He couldn't have been as much of a hero with a dark half (of what would be Vanitas) that's used to make his personality. It could also justify Xehanort's obsession with Ventus and linking him to the X-Blade.
  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skuld More specifically this bit: ''Snorri informs the reader that the youngest Norn, Skuld, is in effect also a valkyrie, taking part in the selection of warriors from the slain'' ''she who is called Skuld, ride ever to take the slain and decide fights'' What could this mean for her, depending on how much the character is influenced by the original skuld?
  12. So after seeing the new artwork for the 3rd anniversary of Kingdom Hearts X, I decided to do a sketch of the art rendered in pencil and adding a KH3 logo to it. http://
  13. When the likes of Ephemera appeared in Chi, people automatically jumped on the bandwagon that he could be a seeker of darkness. I myself was semi sympathetic; semi skeptical. Carrying on when Skuld was introduced again people jumped on the bandwagon. Yet excluding the rebirth theory ( which off topic I'm still not a fan of) or some more complicated time travel rubbish, it didn't add up how they could appear in modern times. However, I think this has changed without the need for Xehanort to be alive during the chi era adding a realistic prospective for a change. In the last story update Master Ava expressed knowledge of the up coming keyblade war and revealed her plans to create Dandelions ( awful name I know- especially since they are weeds) to send a special group of keyblade wielders to another world to escape the upcoming war. If Square did wish to pursue this to modern times; then this could work within the storyline. Time flows differently depending on what realm you are in, so I propose the dandelions were sent to another realm. We've seen the Realms of light; darkness; sleep, inbetween. so it's extremely plausible there are other unknown realms out there; therefore if such realm exists then time would flow differently to that of the realm of light where the majority of the series takes place. We know the keyblade war is a historic fact and I hate to break it to people but our own individual characters will probably die ( cheery thought). We also know the worlds were remade and were not United anymore; however I question whether the dandelions were successful. Kairi's grandmother in her fairytale story refers to the light of children being the cause for this. I do not believe these were the dandelions at all; after all if that was the case; one would expect a lot more wielders to present or a wider knowledge; also as those of you know fairy tales focus on all aspects and there isn't record of a ' key shaped weapon' or ' valiant Warriors'. Thereby I conclude the dandelions are still where Ava sent them. This links to KH3 due to the fact if they are lost; you could have a hunt to find them. The idea of Xehanort knowing about this isn't unrealistic; especially since his master or the master's master could have been around to remember that individuals disappeared before the keyblade war. Thus making them the subject of legends almost like a concept of hidden treasure. To provide a brief summary- consider the dandelions like King Arthur in British folklore, powerful and wise and waiting for a return. The interesting outcome would be how precious keyblade wielders adapt the new world they might find themselves in and that could be exploited to serve the darkness either as an ally to Xehanort or as a future antagonist

    Skuld KHX onlinever

My take on drawing Skuld. I was going for a Kingdom Hearts/Tetsuya Nomura art style. Please don't repost on any website (except KH13.com).

  16. THERE IS A STORY UPDATE IN DAYBREAK TOOOOWN! IT'S HERE!!!! I haven't touched it yet. But I'm going to! I know all of us are playing Unchained X. But I was going on X[chi] just to check up the "dropbox" and I stumble upon the game's advertisements, bottom left. And-- Skuld and the player are in the waterway. THEY'RE IN THE WATERWAAY! And I think they traveled past the secret pathway! Despite there is no translation, I'm going to do it. EDIT: Scratch that. There is a translation. I should've checked carefully.

  18. The last story update was very, very, very Interesting and made me think think of possible scenarios of ways we could relate this to Kh3 and the upcoming Keyblade War. Firstly I'll provide a summary to serve as a hypothesis for a potential ' Heartless of the Fallen' scenario. Our Avatar encounters a new character called Skuld who appears to have come from the same faction as our missing friend Ephemera. In her dream Ephemera told her to seek out our Avatar and also added that the End is near. We then hear a loud explosion nearby and see 2 Foretellers in full combat; this is where a group of Heartless appear and start to demand for the Lux. Prompting a fight between them and us, the Dark Chirithy then reveals they were ex keyblade wielders that gave into the darkness... Right; let me know explain my ' Heartless of the Fallen' situation ( Later becoming Seeekrs of Darkness) I believe that when a Keyblade wielders becomes a heartless then the ' Fallen wielder' maintains full consciousness and has free will to decide their actions rather than Heartless purely seeking out new hearts to capture. Although a brief defintion; I hope you get the basic drift. Now if they willingly accept darkness then I'd wager that this makes them the amongst the truly first ' Seekers of Darkness'. This is my first small tie in to KH3- I don't believe these new enemies want the Lux to simply eradicate the light; however I think like Xehanort they want the Lux to create an Equilibrium between Light and Darkness. However if one wanted to take another path and believe that our ' Seekers of Darkness' do wish to have the light themselves then we could relate this to the Keyblade War where the light was fought over and seeing as power is a key element to the fall of these wielders then this could explain their motivation. Linking directly to the Keyblade War- I believe that these wielders belong to the same faction as those of the 6th apprentice. Just because they didn't become a foreteller we have no evidence to suggest that they didn't take on apprentices of their own and I believe what we fought were the ex apprentices of the 6th apprentice and that whilst the foretellers probably did clash; I believe these seekers of darkness also contributed to the war and perhaps we'll see a shift from the Foretellers clashing to the original ' Guardians of Light' ( foretellers; our avatar and the other apprentices) vs the 6th apprentice and the seekers of darkness. Not only would this increase the importance of the 6th apprentice; but also directly relate to Kh3. I'd be willing to wager that the second keyblade war will play a similar way to the above. Also and this is the part which may seem controversial; what If either the 12 other seekers of darkness Morphed into what we saw in KH3 and that a fully norted person evolves to one of these beings? Or secondly what if during the final battle with Xehanort; he completely accepts the darkness and becomes a ' seeker of darkness' and this could act as an Almost ' God form' meaning he'd be hard to defeat and that the Lux gathered during CHI provides Sora with the strength to defeat him.
