I should make more Tekken threads in the future. Anyways: over the weekend, there was a reveal for the upcoming Tekken 7 in the form of a new character: Lucky Chloe. Before I go into detail, take a look at Lucky Chloe for yourself: So yeah. She's your typical genki girl, J-pop star teen idol whatsamajigger with big headphones and in a kitty costume with paws and stuff. Long story short: people, mostly Western fans, raged. And Katsuhiro Harada actually responded to some of it too. Check out this article for the full story: http://www.polygon.com/2014/12/9/7359735/tekken-7-lucky-chloe-reaction-harada Now, I'll be honest here: this is probably the most embarrassing display of fan backlash I've ever seen. I literally cannot fathom why idiots like these have to get salty over this type of thing. I've been a fan of Tekken since I played Tekken 3 way back when (which was also the first game I ever played too), and I have enough experience with the series to say that this type of thing, honestly, isn't that big a deal at all. If you're not in the know, Tekken is a series that has incorporated a lot of weird, ridiculous, and sometimes even funny characters into its rosters, such as dancing bears, boxing kangaroos and raptors, cyborgs, robots, angels, demons, and even vampires. So seeing this genki girl archetype joining the fray is pretty damn tame in comparison. Even so, the fact is that not counting on ridiculous new characters to join a Tekken is like asking a new Street Fighter game to not have more than two or three versions of it. Also, I admire the way that Katsuhiro Harada handled the situation, because frankly, the man deserves as much admiration as he can get overall. He does a damn good job at what he does and he doesn't take shit from ignorant people. He's also a cool enough guy to joke around every once in a while and he doesn't try to bullshit other people either; he tells it like it is. Bottom line: If you don't like Lucky Chloe, than don't play as her. Play with all the other damn characters in the game because there's obviously going to be more, maybe even a couple more new ones too. I'm not gonna lie either, I'll give her a try too. I generally like to try to play as all the characters in a fighting game, not really competitively but just for fun. Anyways, that's my two cents on the matter, what do you think?
