  1. I loved the reboot and thought Legend and Guardian of Light were okay so I of course decided to play Anniversary. I was let down. The game looks outdated now. It feels outdated. It's also very boring. The story is non existent. It's all puzzle, puzzle, puzzle and the few moments of story the game does have are awful cutscenes. The combat is also basic and boring. If you like that sort of thing that's great, but for me personally this game is terribly boring and outdated.
  2. Hey everyone! Today I would like to share with you my thoughts on Rise of the Tomb Raider, published by Square Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics. I would like to preface this review by saying I will not spoil any of the story, and if you did not like the 2013 reboot, Tomb Raider, then you will not like Rise of the Tomb Raider. Now, if you did like the 2013 reboot, then you are in for a treat. Rise of the Tomb Raider keeps common elements from the previous game: gorgeous environments, upgradeable skills and weapons, and a thrilling, action-packed story. It has been debated as to whether the story becomes too predictable, but I'll say that I did not see the large twist coming, so the story kept me on-edge and wanting more! Aside from bringing back the enjoyable elements that made the previous game great, Rise of the Tomb Raider introduces just a bit more. The most notable of these additions is the inclusion of side quests, or extra missions. There weren't that many, so it did not get repetitive, and the missions were different pretty much every time. It was an interesting addition. Aside from that, combat was much more fluid and crafting weapons/ammo was simple and made gameplay that much better. Lastly, the greatest improvement is the much more tame action. Let me explain: In the first game, it seemed that every jump you make would lead to some disaster in which Lara goes through a near-death experience. It seemed really over-the-top. That doesn't happen nearly as much in this title. Really, the only gripes I have with the game are the occasionally wonky movements (it took a few tries to get the jump placed perfectly to climb the wall, etc.) and the fact that ammo/crafting materials are WAY too plentiful. I never felt the urgency or desperation to collect materials because I was always in full stock. Also, the fact that I could craft ammo means that there really didn't need to be ammo lying around every corner. Other than that, the game was very enjoyable. In conclusion, if you enjoyed the first, you'll love Rise of the Tomb Raider. They didn't fix much, which is fine, and the things they did improve on were for the better. Verdict: 9.4/10
  3. I have Steam codes for the following Tomb Raider games. Just let me know if you want them. Tomb Raider: Legend Tomb Raider: Anniversary Tomb Raider: Underworld That's all. Winners are below.
  4. Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider: Anniversary has been released on Mac via Steam. The port was of course handled by Feral Interactive.
  5. The Tomb Raider Trilogy is a collection consisting of Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Underworld, released exclusively on PlayStation 3 in 2011. The games were originally developed by Crystal Dynamics, in association with Buzz Monkey Software and Nixxes Software BV, and were ported to the PS3 by Buzz Monkey Software. The collection includes the PlayStation 2 versions of Legend and Anniversary remastered in high definition plus Underworld, which was previously released on the PS3 in 2008, all on one Blu-ray Disc. Also included is plenty of trophies with a platinum trophy for each game, bonus Lara Croft and Viking Thrall avatars for use in the now terminated PlayStation Home, a theme pack for the XrossMediaBar, developer diaries for all 3 games and trailers for the previously released Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light. Legend is a quality game however it hasn't aged that well in the past nine years. The faces look very awkward at times and there is texture/graphic issues galore. The platforming isn't perfect either. And the way the game blocks off certain areas just looks strange and ugly. The game is pretty easy and has multiple difficulties including a time trial mode and plenty of collectables. Croft Manor also returns with puzzles and more collectables. Voice acting is fine and so is music and sound effects. However sometimes the voice acting is a little hard to hear over music & sound effects. You can also re-watch the cinematics and view character profiles, object models and more. There's also pistol upgrades, different outfits and cheats. The story is okay, nothing as epic as the reboot though. The game is quite short, only took me about eight hours. Aiming can also be a little off and the puzzles are the same boring stuff. It's a decent game that's worth a playthrough. After playing some of Anniversary and Underworld I'm let down. The platforming is shocking in Anniversary and both are outdated in terms of gameplay and graphics. The remasters appear to do the game's justice but I've never played the originals. If you like the classics you should be fine playing these but they are just too outdated for me personally. 7/10

  9. Tomb Raider has sold over 8.5 million copies worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC & Mac. This is easily the highest selling entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. This is also the third highest selling title in Square/Square Enix history behind Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, it is however likely to fall to fifth if Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy XIII do get ported to PlayStation 4.
  10. The first Tomb Raider game is now available on Android for a very low price. Buy it here.
  11. Square Enix has released Tomb Raider Underworld, Hitman 2, Hitman: Blood Money and Hitman: Contracts on PlayStation Now. The three Hitman titles are of course the three that were included in the Hitman HD Trilogy.
  12. Anyone got some thoughts on the Tomb Raider Trilogy? You know, Legend, Anniversary and Underworld on PS3.
  13. Tomb Raider is a 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC & Mac. It was later ported to PlayStation 4 & Xbox One. Tomb Raider is a reboot to the franchise, a fitting time to do it since it’s the first Tomb Raider game developed since Square Enix acquired Crystal Dynamics. It is also a brand new origins story and features a brand new actress as Lara Croft. These are some of the main reasons why I purchased Tomb Raider. The old Tomb Raider doesn't really interest me, but this new era of Tomb Raider is exciting to me. The game starts off like a good interesting action-adventure game but then when a plane crashes the game picks up and becomes one of the most epic gaming experiences I've ever had. It’s up there with Uncharted 2 & 3, games I loved. The weapons are a ton of fun. I love using the bow & arrow and the various guns. They feel so good. The game also allows you to take the sniping approach with the bow & arrow or to just go all guns blazes like you would usually in an Uncharted game. There are also optional tombs and they will provide a challenge, but personally I didn't dig too deep into these. The pacing could be improved though. You can go through a very exciting part and then feel a letdown. Or at times you’ll be thinking “I want to shoot some enemies” and next thing you know you'll be thinking “How many enemies do I have to face?” I also loved a lot of the ways you can move around the island. And the quick time events change up the already great cinematics. Music and sound effects are top notch. There’s even a few RPG-like elements to enhance the experience. There’s also behind the scenes videos, artwork, Square Enix trailers and more to enjoy. There has been a lot of bad reception to the multiplayer (a first for the franchise) but I personally really enjoyed it, more than Uncharted 2 & 3’s multiplayers. Hardly any trophies are connected to the main story which I personally don't like but I know some people do. There’s also some nice single-player and multiplayer DLC along with outfits and weapons if you want more, but most editions of the game come with the DLC included for free. Tomb Raider is an amazing game and is again up there with Uncharted 2 & 3. I played the PS3 version and will purchase the PS4 version at some stage in the future. Hopefully Rise of the Tomb Raider’s timed exclusive contract isn't that long and we can see this game on PS4 in early 2016. At this stage Uncharted 4 is winning the race but we'll see if Crystal Dynamics has something up their sleeve. 9/10
  14. Former Naughty Dog art director Nate Wells has been hired by Crystal Dynamics. He will have the same job. Wells tweeted the news earlier today. "Wow, you can actually smell trees up here. #crystaldynamics #firstday," tweeted Wells. Wells spent 13 years at Irrational Games and was hired in August 2012 by Naughty Dog. He worked on The Last of Us before leaving Naughty Dog in April of this year. He joined Unfinished Swan studio Giant Sparrow, before being hired today by Crystal Dynamics. Source

  16. Due to the recent announcement of the next Tomb Raider installment being exclusive to Xbox One, Geoff Keighly took it upon himself to ask multiple Microsoft employees about it at Gamescom. According to him, they've told him it's only exclusive for one Holiday season. Aaron Greenberg, the head of Marketing at Microsoft, claims otherwise, but who is telling the truth? I actually believe it's a timed exclusive, as I already made that guess yesterday. What helps here is that other Xbox One exclusives such as Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome are now making their way to PlayStation 4. This is why I didn't complain about it at all. Microsoft sucks at keeping 3rd party exclusives.
