  1. So I finally watched Onward for the first time the other day and (as I do with any new Disney film these days) immediately started wondering how it might fit into Kingdom Hearts. Feel free to disagree with me but I'm not sure having an Onward world follow the events of the film is the best way to go because either Sora, Donald and Goofy will get in the way of Ian and Barley's brotherly bonding time or they'll end up spending most of the time chasing after Ian and Barley from behind, possibly taking Mrs Lightfoot's place by teaming up with The Manticore, which could end up feeling like a rehash of their time in Arendelle culminating in a battle with the cursed dragon that will be a lot like the Darkubes boss battle from San Fransokyo. Whilst the above ideas could still work if executed well, I think it would be a lot more interesting and original if an Onward world was set before the events of the film as a prequel story. Kind of like how the San Fransokyo world works as a sequel to Big Hero 6 offering closure on the original Baymax. Here's my idea: When Ian meets someone who knew his father, they tell Ian that his father was a bold and confident person, but his mother says that his father wasn't always like that, however doesn't exactly say how he changed. We also know that his father came into possession of a wizard's staff but we never find out how he got it or how he learned to use it. Was it just a family heirloom or did he find it? These mysteries provide the perfect opportunity for Sora, Donald and Goofy to become part of the story. What if the trio landed in Onward's world when Mr Lightfoot was a self-conscious teenager and end up going on an adventure with him where he not only learns to believe in himself thanks to Sora's encouragement but also learns magic from Donald? Not only will this allow Sora and co. to play a meaningful part in a Disney story, rather than being third-wheels or replacing other characters, but it will also allow us to get to know Mr Lightfoot more which would then give more weight to the story of Onward itself. With Disney being a lot more involved in Kingdom Hearts now than they used to be, and with the San Fransokyo, Toy Box and Monstropolis worlds already featuring original stories designed to work as canon to the films they are based on, I think this could be a real possibility. Let me know what you think!
  2. Here's King Mickey arriving in The World That Never Was in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Here's the Replica for Roxas being sent to the Keyblade Graveyard by Ienzo, Even, Ansem the Wise, etc. in Kingdom Hearts III. (Which Roxas' heart comes out of Sora and then goes into the moment it arrives.) It's the exact same method of travel/arriving at a world. They have the same animation of a sparkle in the sky and then a beam of light coming down from where the sparkle was, transporting a person or object to a world.
  3. People often ask why Kingdom Hearts uses terms like "hurt" instead of "pain" or "unreality" instead of "alternate dimension." Or why they use the terms "light" and "darkness" so much. The in-universe explanation for this is that the Kingdom Hearts World works very differently than our universe and has its own set of labels and rules for many things. The real world meta explanation for this though is that Tetsuya Nomura seems to like Kingdom Hearts to sort of establish its own labels and rules for things. And there's a reason why. For example, they're now calling the other side of the World that Yozora comes from "unreality" and "fiction" rather than just saying its another dimension or something. Getting used to these terms and the way they're used can be odd and jarring at times, however that's kind of the point as these unique terms sort of make you think and wonder more about these concepts. Something more mainstream such as Marvel uses more common terms such as other "dimensions" and the "multiverse" to bring characters and worlds together that usually wouldn't make much sense to bring together to make it make more sense and easy to understand for the audience so they can just focus on the characters and worlds that are being brought together instead of focusing on how weird and incomprehensible the concepts of other realities and universes really are. Kingdom Hearts likes to use words such as "unreality" and "fictional worlds" to put more focus on what these concepts actually mean and how weird and incomprehensible these concepts truly are. Instead of shying away from how philosophically weird and trippy some concepts are in order to make things easier for the audience to understand, Kingdom Hearts fully leans into it. So, if they were to just use the term "pain" instead of "hurt," you would think you understand what they're talking about completely and not take a closer look at the concept being talked about, while using the term "hurt" makes you take a closer look and examine what the concept of pain/hurt truly means and makes you wonder if you even do understand what it really means. There are concepts in life that we take for granted and think we know what they truly mean just because we've heard the words and the definitions of the words our entire lives, so we don't really take the moment to really think about it philosophically. If they used the word "pain" it would've just become another sentence that passes by and gets replaced by the next sentence without you taking a deeper look into what's being said. I remember as a young kid playing Kingdom Hearts and some of these odd terms would really make me think more about the underlying philosophy and existentialism of it all rather than just focusing on the more generic aspects that overlie it all. People often make fun of Kingdom Hearts for these odd terms and how often some terms like light or darkness are used, but I really do think there's a point to it. The way these terms are used might seem silly in a conventional way, but Kingdom Hearts has never been about thinking conventionally and has always been about establishing and following its own rules. The stuff with Yozora and Quadratum has made me the most interested in the series' future than I have been in a while. The mystique and intrigue of it is on par with after I saw KH1's secret ending for the first time. It's got the same vibes of what got me so hooked on the series so much as a young kid in the first place. It even brings back the same KH1 opening quote, bringing it back to the roots of what made the series so interesting and stand out. The theme of existential confusion that underlies the whole series. "I've been having these weird thoughts lately, like is any of this for real, or not?" "None of this... makes sense to me." Nomura has even said that the KH1 opening quote is what got KH approved in the first place. Q9: What can you say about the secret boss & episode? Nomura: "The secrets contain my thoughts about the future of the series, but with the information out at present I don't think you'll be able to guess any of it. Some parts of the battle ended up very different from what I requested. But it surprised me in a good way, so take it as it is." Q10: Why did lines from KH1 appear in the final trailer? Nomura: "Those were lines I'd long wanted to put together if I ever got the chance. You may not understand, but the inclusion of those lines is what got the world of Kingdom Hearts approved. There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway." While many aspects of the story weren't planned by Nomura in advance, I definitely believe there has always been underlying themes and meanings that Nomura has rooted in the series and stayed consistent with and has had plans for ever since the first game. And now that the main story that has been going on with Xehanort is finally complete, it seems like he will finally bring out those underlying themes and meanings in full force and bring them to the forefront rather than in the background. Things are going to start getting really existential, meta, and trippy going forward. And I think this is what Nomura has planned for, hoped for, and always wanted to do since the first game. And I think those quotes of his prove that. The ongoing story has concluded. The ongoing mysteries have now been concluded. The time has come for the underlying themes of existential confusion, hearts, fake worlds, data worlds, dreams, other versions of yourself, not knowing what is real, etc. that have been built up and built up to finally explode and to get what Kingdom Hearts has always truly been about. "There is no mystery to solve this time, they stand at the doorway."

  12. Hi there! I'm 13th Vessel, some of you may remember me for some stuff that I found in the past, like the weird rooms in KH3D or the Jungle Book colission file that was inside that same game. This time I wanted to do my research with KH2 and surprisingly I found a lot of unused stuff that was hidden inside the game files. This is a dense research that covers almost every file of the game and it's very interesting because it's strongly tied to Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, so please take a look if you like This video took me a lot of hours, not only the research itself but the video editing too (+15 hours doing the research and +20 making the video). Also, while I was doing the research I noticed that some part of the stuff was previously found by other friends of the KH hacking community, but the thing is that most people ignore it, so I added some names in order to let you know if someone found any of these before. I consider this one of my most ambitious works so I hope you enjoy the video! Lots of regards! 13th Vessel~ This post has been promoted to an article

  15. Now, I understand that the inclusion of Marvel in Kingdom Hearts seems very controversial, but honestly, I'm all for it. Seeing Marvel characters in KH may seem pretty stupid, but then again, isn't a crossover between Final Fantasy and Disney kind of weird and dumb on its own? Honestly, I enjoy when KH can get very weird when it comes to including many of their properties. From Pirates of the Caribbean to The World Ends With You, I see now reason with excluding the Marvel, but the question is: How? The main problem with Marvel is just how massive its universe is, it has such a complex and odd cosmology due having many cooks in the kitchen. There are many characters, dimensions, realms, universes, gods and cosmic entities within it's omniverse. Now there are many routes the KH devs can take. They can either go with the cinematic route, which is basically the cinematic universe of Marvel movies most of you I assume already know. Personally, I don't like going this route, but this seems to be the most likely route, given the popularity of the films and how it introduced many people to Marvel internationally. Another route is creating their own canon of the Marvel universe, I believe this is the best route, since it gives the devs more creative freedom to make their own canon of how the Marvel universe works in the KH universe. Heck, I would love to see Nomura and the art team design their own version of the Marvel characters, wouldn't that be awesome?! How do you guys think it should work?
  16. Hey, Pooh. Better not forget about me this time you little—!
  17. From what we've seen in Kingdom Hearts III trailers so far, we'll be fighting a Heartless boss in each world, and possibly an Organization XIII member in each world. The only Disney villains that we have seen so far, aside from Maleficent and Pete, are Hades and Lythos. I hope we will still be able to fight against the Disney villains for each respective world. I want to fight Zurg from Toy Story. I want to fight Lythos, Hydros, Pyros, Stratos, and the Cyclops from Hercules. I want to fight Randall from Monsters, Inc. I want to fight Mother Gothel from Tangled. And I want to fight Yokai from Big Hero 6. We fought against Heartless bosses in KH2, as well as the Disney villains, but for Beast's Castle, we fought Xaldin instead of Gaston. I hope that the Organization XIII members in Kingdom Hearts III aren't taking the place of the Disney villains for each world like how Xaldin took the place of Gaston. It's possible that we don't even fight the Organization XIII members in the Disney worlds that they show up in in Kingdom Hearts III, and they just appear and talk to Sora to try to manipulate him like they did in Dream Drop Distance, but it seems like they are trying to make the Disney worlds more relevant to the overall plot (which is a good thing), so it seems sort of like the Organization XIII members might be taking the place of the Disney villains in order to make that happen. If we are going to fight the Organization XIII members in the Disney worlds, then I hope it doesn't replace the Disney villain boss fights, and they are just another separate boss fight instead. Another point of concern is the fact that most of the Disney worlds will have new unique original plots that differ or continue from the respective Disney movies. This is a good thing because it's fixing something many people complained about from the previous games, which is having to play through the exact plot from the Disney movies, but it's a point of concern in regards to which characters will appear in the worlds. The fact that some of the worlds are having plots that continue from where the Disney movies left off could mean that we won't be fighting the Disney villains from those worlds, since they were defeated in the movies. I hope they find a way to make the villains return somehow, because not having a boss fight against Yokai in the Big Hero 6 world or a fight against Zurg or Stinky Pete in the Toy Story world would be a really big missed opportunity. I might be overthinking things, but who knows. What are your thoughts on this?
  18. I know you're all thinking about a Farty world but come on guys..
