(Lol yeah Axel's just missing him xD)

Axel looked at him, a bit cold for some reason. He didn't mean to but it just looked that way.

"Blue hair? Oh no. You didn't.....Why Saix?!" He asked wanting to smile but he couldn't.

Roxas felt his chest ache just lightly as his eyes softened at the coldness of his expression. Did he do something wrong already?

"Because I figured he'd be the hardest to prank. Dem' had to go on a mission that made it impossible not to fight. I guess it was kind of fun to." He pulled out Saix's eyebrows. "I don't know how we pulled it off." He said, giving a small smile at Axel with a small laugh.

(Poor Axel~ We'll need to buy him a Roxas cosplayer or something xD)

Axel raised an eyebrow at Roxas. "That's kind of mean, babe. Even I don't want to be around when Saix finds out. I guess when he does, he's going to tell Xemnas and then Xemnas is going to have a whole meeting on eyebrows."

Axel got te strands of hair from Roxas and said, "Didnt think you'd do it."

Roxas shrugged a little lightly, sitting down next to Axel carefully and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Really? That'll be an interesting meeting won't it?" He then took the time to scrutinize Axel and narrow his blue eyes. Something seemed off about the red-head. "Axel...is something wrong?"

Axel shook his head once. "Nah. I'm fine." he said in a flat tone. His gaze never wandered from the sun. He just didn't know why he felt this Roxas was such a stranger. He was sure it would pass though.

"So, yeah..." he said, trying to start a stimulating conversation.

Roxas nodded, keeping his concerned gaze on the red head for just a second before looking back to the sunset.

"Okay...so how was your mission?" He quipped, trying to make his tone happy to lighten the mood.

Axel shrugged. "It was pretty easy. Just had to do some recon before Demyx went on his mission." Axel layed back, staring at the sky.

He handed a popsicle stick to Roxas, already biting his own.

Roxas gladly accepted it, nibbling on it gently. He shot a glance at Axel, already chomping on his and giggled.

"You always were the first to finish yours." He pondered slightly, some of his old innocence coming through a bit.

Axel laughed. "Yeah. Everyone else takes their sweet time to get their missions done. I like to get mines over with so I can come up here. No one else has anything to look forward to after work, so I kind of understand where they're coming from. I used to be like that. Before I met you."

Roxas blinked. He had been referring to Axel's ice cream but..that had been a little sweet. He was glad that Axel had misinterpreted his words.

"I...Axel...thank you." He said shyly, turning to look at him.

Axel went back to his unfazed demeanor. "You're welcome."

He sat up again. "I wonder if we'll eer get hearts. I'm starting to get impatient. I mean...I just don't get it...We collect all these hearts and yet... We don't even have ONE..."

Roxas blinked, looking at Axel. He hadn't been expecting that. In a way..he wondered if this was his fault. Had you not been working diligently enough? Was he not collecting the necessary hearts? He just didn't get it.

"I know what you mean. I want a heart...my heart back. So we can have hearts together..."

  • Author

Axel nodded. "Yeah."

He didn't know how he'd feel with a heart. Whole? The same? Can you really FEEL a heart? Or.. is it just there? What emotions come with it?

He needed these answers.

Roxas could tell there were thoughts flying across Axel's mind, troubling him. He took a moment to finish his ice cream and look to the ground as the popsicle fell.

"You can tell me if something's bothering you."

Axel stood.

"We should get back to the castle. We do have a meeting today y'know." He helped Roxas up and flattened out his coat. He gave a slight peck to Roxas lips and departed the tower, fading into darkness.

"Sorry that I can't tell you.."

Roxas frowned, looking after him sadly as Axel walked away. Why were they feeling so...distant? He feel sadness hitting him hard in the gut. Weren't they supposed to tell each other everything? He always did in the end...right? He held himself tightly, looking downcast as he followed after Axel. It seemed even he didn't care anymore. Like he didn't want him. Roxas tried driving those thoughts out of his head but the lingered, eating away at his confidence little by little.

Axel kept walking. He didn't know why he was walkingaway from Roxas so coldly. It just hit him that thins wouldn't be the same. He kept walking through the halls of the castle, wandering to his room. At that point, he wasn't sure of his feelings toward Roxas.

"Did I let last night happen just to fill the void..?"

Roxas had been silently following Axel as they had walked, apparently unnoticed by Axel, hoping to catch a word with him. He wanted to let him know he was still Roxas, that he was trying, that he would do what he could to remember everything. But then he heard Axel muttering to himself and what he said almost physically hurt him.

"Did I let last night happen just to fill the void..?" Roxas could feel his breath coming in shorter spurts as his eyes softened to a hurt expression and he dared himself to make a move to speak.

"I don't know. Did you?" He questioned, the heartache becoming inevitable to hear in his soft voice.

Axel's eyes opened wide. He didn't dare to turn around and see Roxas' hurt expression. His lip quivered when he spoke, as if he was scared of the truth.

"If I did or didn't, it happened. Maybe I regret it, maybe I don't."

The truth was that he didn't know what had caused him to think that way. To think that Roxas was someone else. Was that why he made him stay at the castle? To make sure that Axel wouldn't have to see him at work? And maybe he finished his missions faster to get right back to his room.

He honestly didn't know.

Roxas swallowed hard, glaring just slightly at the pyromaniac. Did he think he could just say something like that and not think Roxas would feel hurt upon that? The blond, clenched his fists at his side, refusing to remove his eyes from the back of Axel's head, half pleading, half scowling at him.

"It just happened, huh? Then would you say that it just happened I walked away and never came back even though I was going to promise you I would do exactly the opposite?" He asked coldly, blue eyes turning icy and brighter with ever moment that caused slight moisture to build up. By now his nails had begun digging into the palm of his hand, drawing blood.

Axel's flat expression didn't change. "That's not what I meant. I loved you when it happened, of course. But I don't know. It's wierd. It felt like... You weren't the Roxas from before. And you're not. I didn't know how to react to it."

Axel finished bantering and moved his eyes slightly to look at Roxas.

"It's not the same. Just like you said."

Roxas felt fire rage within him. Who was Axel to say he wasn't the same Roxas? So what if he didn't have a few memories? He had the ones that were important. The ones that mattered. He had the ones that kept Axel close to his heart. Didn't the red head understand that? Or was...

Was he not enough anymore because there were pieces of him missing?

His face reddened as he fought a losing battle to not cry. To not give in. He wouldn't let himself go running to Axel like he usually did.

"Wh-who's to say I'm not the same? You? Axel...I still have memories. I'm not completely dead and I remember everything that holds you close to me. Don't you get that?" His voice raised slightly, shoulders shaking. "Don't you understand that?! Don't you get that I love you, that I'm still Roxas?!"

  • Author

Axel snapped, his face burning with fury.

"Yes! I do get that! I want you to remember from start to finish!! I want you to remember how we bonded, the conversations we shared! Not jut the big ones, the small ones too! I'm probably asking too much though. It's not like YOU can do anything about it. You probably don't even know how it felt to love. You probably just think you love me... Forcing yourself to believe that..."

And those last few words, those last statements that ran from Axel's mouth hit him so much harder then anything else. His eyes widened dramatically in shock as tears slowly trickled down his cheeks, the feeling in his chest growing unbearable as he shook, taking an involuntary step back.

"You can't believe that...can you?" He asked, his voice raising barely above a tender whisper, ready to be broken at any moment. This couldn't be. Instead of continue back he walked unsteadily forwards, grasping Axel's cloak as he sobbed into his chest desperately. "I-If I do-don't love you then why does it h-hurt to hear you say that?" He cried, squeezing his eyes shut.

Axel didn't move.

"I don't know. You tell me. We Nobodies have no hearts so how should I know why you're feeling? I understand only so much about the heart. I don't een think we'll ever have one. Or.. If I want one for that matter. It only brings pain and other horrid feelings."
