Forever Starts Now (1x1 RP with Forever Love)

Posted

A friend and I have been doing a RP for a while now, and it has been scattered across several threads on two different sites. It started as a group story (about fast food of all things xP) but then it transformed into something else entirely.

We request that nobody join in this RP or post anything on this thread; if you wanna say how awesome we are, message us some other way. :)

Um...You're free to read this for fun if you want to, but this thread has major Birth By Sleep spoilers. And since we've been doing this for a while, we will probably refer to things we've done in the past and you will have no idea what we're talking about. So if you want to save yourself from confusion, then you probably wanna stay away. If not, hey, whatever.

The plot was discussed and posted on another website, but here's a quick summary of the whole thing: It's the return of Xehanort.

Characters:

Peanut: Sora, Namine, Leon, Aerith, King Mickey, Terra, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.

Forever Love: Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Yuffie, Aqua, Vanitus, Tron, etc.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said...Forever Love, let's get this show on the road, eh? :)

What's the point if you're not going to be happy about it? Riku wondered silently, his eyebrows furrowing as he kept his arms crossed over his chest. Clearly she wasn't pleased, but Lightning didn't need to make it awkward for everyone else. He wasn't sure what would be worse: them staying to see that there was more tension than they realized, or for them to go home and ponder the failure.

Light sighed at the awkward silence, lifting a hand to her forehead. "You guys just picked a bad day to throw a surprise party," she mumbled, though it was loud enough for everybody in the room to hear and understand her. "Excuse me." She lowered her hand and started towards the back of the house, where her bedroom was. She couldn't take that tension too much longer.
Kairi watched Lightning go, but her eyes immediately found Riku. She saw he wasn't happy, and she realized that no one was pleased about anything that just happened. The party was a failure. Her gaze met Riku's and he only shrugged, obviously not knowing what to say on Light's behalf.

Namine looked around the room, seeing that Riku looked ticked too. Lightning had obviously been covering up something just a minute ago, but she didn't know what it was. And it wasn't any of their business. "I guess...we should go," she said softly, looking around. They wouldn't throw a party in Lightning's house if she didn't want to be a part of it.
Roxas nodded, looking to the young lady that he loved. "I'll take you back," he offered softly. He was with Namine before anyway, and he was her mode of transportation. He would escort her back to the Islands.

Lightning quietly shut her bedroom door, not hearing Namine accept Roxas's offer or the others making plans to leave as well. Stupid, she thought, gritting her teeth. Didn't I make it clear I didn't want anything done for my birthday? I don't care that I'm another year older. That date marks another anniversary, and that day was the day I failed my sister and damned myself to become a l'Cie. How's that worth celebrating?
Riku kept his position as he watched his friends start leaving. Kairi put a hand on one of his arms over his chest, and he nodded to her. It's alright, he thought. Go home. They didn't need to stay or anything. He could handle it.

Just don't do something stupid like punching a wall, Lightning thought to herself, her hands in tight fists as she forced herself to sit on the bed, facing away from the door. She was so angry, but she couldn't get downstairs to the punching bag while she had company. She felt the frustration surface at the thought of them, the people she considered friends. I shoved them away again. I didn't try to, but I did. That's just great.
Riku watched his friends go, and he only looked toward the hall. A heavy breath left him through his nose, the boy shaking his head as he lowered his gaze to the floor. He didn't even know if he wanted to talk to Lightning; he'd just get scolded. That wasn't what he wanted to listen to at that moment.

Light didn't hear any noise in the living room, which didn't surprise her. They all left, and Riku probably did too. A person could only take so much of being pushed away. She groaned and laid back on the bed with her feet still on the ground, her eyes shutting. I'm always the screw-up. Things just keep going downhill...
"Clearly you're not up for company," Riku said softly, knowing that no one could hear him since the room was empty. He pushed himself away from the wall, turning for the door. He'd just go home.

Lightning pushed herself up from the bed, starting to walk towards the door to her bedroom. She entered the hall within a few seconds and saw Riku walking out like he was leaving. She leaned a shoulder against a doorway and watched him from her place, though he probably sensed that she was there. She didn't know what to say...except to say sorry. She always told him she was messed up, broken. He just didn't take her word for it, and now he and his friends were offended.
Riku had his hand on the door, though he stopped when he sensed someone else's presence. Because of his time in Darkness, he had the ability to catch her scent. "...What?" he asked, keeping his back to Lightning. She wasn't up for company five minutes ago, so he wasn't up for talking. She hated parties. He got it.

Lightning felt her hands curl into tighter fists. "It's not you, it's me," she said softly, glancing down at the ground. He wasn't the one who did anything wrong or insane. Who didn't like a surprise party? Who didn't like being surprised with a trip to Nautilus? And what kind of a girl didn't want a guy to do something special for her birthday? A normal girl would have loved it, but she didn't. She wasn't normal.
"Original," Riku said, turning his head to speak over his shoulder. "I expect you to break things off now." This was how it always went, in stories or movies. That line--"it's not you, it's me"--was enough to signify a break-up was coming next. It was the last thing he wanted, but who was he to stop Lightning from making her own decisions?
  • Author
Lightning felt her eyes harden, her gaze going back to Riku. "Sorry to disappoint, then," she said. A break-up hadn't even crossed her mind, because she went down this road before with Riku. She had problems she had to face on her own, so she pushed him away and he stuck around to prove they were meant to be together. But if he didn't feel that way, then he could end it now. And break her heart.
"It's not disappointment when you don't want it," Riku said, his eyes going to his hand that still rested on the doorhandle. He didn't want to break up, ever. He just didn't know what to do about this. Nautilus was a bust, as well as dinner. And now this? Could he do anything to please Lightning?

Light nodded ever so slightly. "Then what do you want?" she asked softly, keeping her spot against a doorway. "Scold me for storming out of the restaurant? For pushing away your friends? For ruining your plans yet again?" she asked, listing why he would be mad at her. "I'm all ears." He could scold her as much as he wanted to and she would take it. She was a bad girlfriend, and she deserved this.
"I want you to stop talking," Riku said, his grip tightening on the doorhandle. "Just give me a second." He was starting to lose his temper, and the last thing he wanted was to take it out on someone he loved. If he hurt her, he ended up hurting himself.

Lightning glanced away at Riku's tense words, but she obeyed. She turned so her back was against the doorway, her gaze on the area in front of her. She could tell he was ticked, but she knew that from the start. That was why she had been prepared for him to scold her.
Riku took in a breath and exhaled it quietly and slowly. He had to calm down, that way he could think rationally and not lose it. After a small minute passed, he released the door and turned around. "I don't want to walk away, and I don't want to yell at you," he said, his eyes lifting from the floor to find the woman on the other side of the room. "I just want to know why nothing I do is good enough."

Light shut her eyes, her arms already folded over her chest. "There's nothing wrong with what you do for me," she responded softly. "It's always good enough, and so are you. I'm the problem." Riku was genuine in everything he tried to do for her, but the past few dates, he just...didn't do things that were her taste. A mall, being attacked by chocobos, and going to dinner and have him criticize her for not telling him about her birthday were all bad things, but they were issues she blamed herself for causing. She shouldn't have been so abnormal.
"Then tell me why, Lightning. Stop leaving me in the dark," Riku said. He never hid anything from her, and he still didn't have anything he hadn't told her. There was just one exception, and that was his thoughts on marriage. Of course, he wouldn't mention that until the right time came and he proposed. Other than that, nothing. But she was hiding more than one thing from him, which he found unfair.

Would you stop bossing me around? Lightning thought, eyebrows furrowing slightly as her head lowered. I've lived my life following orders, and you toss them around like their nothing and I always follow them. I at least want the illusion that I have freedom here. That's what I fought for around this time a year ago. She was a fal'Cie puppet, both as a l'Cie and a member of the government's military. She didn't want to be a slave any longer, not to the government, not to Riku...not to anybody.
When Riku didn't get a response, he closed his eyes, lowering his head. He lifted a hand to his hair, not knowing what to say or do. The last thing he wanted to do was walk away from this, because that was what always happened. But if Lightning wasn't going to talk, what other choice did he have? "Light...please."
